Nathan:

Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle?

. . .

3 He who does not backbite . . .

Nor does evil to his neighbor,

Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

The Psalmist. Psalm 15:1-3. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 23 of 30 Days of Psalms. Relational integrity. I want to enter God’s dwelling place one day, finding it a safe and welcome haven. I’m sure you do, too. That means we’d better pay attention to the message in our text. All who are ultimately prepared to live in God’s presence, will share one essential attribute: they will treat others with goodness, not self-interest. They don’t spit back when unkind words are thrown at them. They don’t plot revenge against their neighbor or look for ways to take advantage of her. They will never believe the gossip told about a friend—let alone join the crowd in tearing them down. What’s the secret? I’ll tell you what it’s not: It’s not policing everything we do, say or think—it’s deeper. It is exchanging our corrupt, self-absorbed heart for a new one. Then what we do, say and think will become more and more reflective of God’s own good way of behaving.
