Returning to his father's house, the prodigal son saw himself as a servant, but the Father wasted no time in clothing him in the finest robe. Today - regardless of our past or how we see ourselves right now - when we come to Father God we immediately receive His white robes of righteousness. By His grace alone, the old has gone and the new is here and filled with direction, purpose, infrastructure and peace, as we get to stand firmly on and cling to the rock of Jesus.
But salvation is not a one off event. God loves the new and he is always at work in those who come to Him. We are born again and again and again and again. Wearing white robes we can learn to walk on water, standing firm regardless of what's coming at us externally, or what we need to dispose of internally.
As vessels, Jesus invites us to carry his light burden and be guided by his easy yoke as we continue to mature in Him, and in our white robes.
