Only Christ Saves

By Tammy Lacock

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there in no law.” (Romans 5:12-13, KJV)

In Romans 5:12-13, Paul explains that sin entered the world through one man, Adam. And ever since, by that sin, death has been passed down to all of us. Death reigned until God gave Israel His law. We must understand, however, that death by sin began by Adam’s choice to disobey God’s law which forbid him to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Therefore, from Adam to the giving of God’s law through Moses, death reigned. Until there was written law, human beings didn’t even know they were sinful. The Ten Commandments gave us a moral compass from which to live. Even Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.

We are all sinners no matter how much we try to keep His commandments. Only by one man, Christ, by His death and resurrection, are we made whole again. He bore all our sins in His body and when He died, our sins died. In fact, our old lives died, too. By believing in Him as our Redeemer from the slavery of sin, He becomes our New Life.

His righteousness is our righteousness.

We are now blameless before God, ready to enter His heavenly Kingdom.
