PJ:

Hey, welcome back to another episode.

2

:

Tuesday's episode of

the daily Bible podcast.

3

:

Tuesday.

4

:

It's not, we've been

through the shoes today.

5

:

Tuesday.

6

:

Rod: Hey, the Aurora Borealis.

7

:

Dude.

8

:

I am so disappointed.

9

:

I did not say well.

10

:

Okay.

11

:

There's actually still a chance that

as we record this, I might try to

12

:

see it tonight, which is Saturday.

13

:

And if I can, man, I'd be

so stoked, but I'm so sad.

14

:

I missed it on Friday.

15

:

I didn't know.

16

:

There's an option.

17

:

I saw it cause I saw all

over everybody's feeds on.

18

:

On the social media, of course,

but I want to see them person.

19

:

I'm willing, I'm willing to go to bed late

and I'd never do this on a Saturday night.

20

:

Be fully rested for church.

21

:

We have, you know, we

have an important job.

22

:

I want to be my best.

23

:

But I would do it for this.

24

:

So I'm going to see if it's a

possibility and if it is, I'm going to

25

:

drive as far north, as we could do it.

26

:

If I have to go to Oklahoma to

see this thing, I want to see it.

27

:

There's not many other

reasons to go to Oklahoma.

28

:

Right.

29

:

And I

30

:

PJ: looked, this could

be one of them though.

31

:

Yeah.

32

:

Uh, well, the fair.

33

:

So pastor rods there on Sunday morning.

34

:

Or if you're reflecting back now on Sunday

morning, He did look kind of sleepy.

35

:

Rod: That's why it,

that could have been it.

36

:

Yeah.

37

:

If it's a possibility I'm tracking it

right now to see if the solar storm

38

:

is, is still going to be strong in

a couple hours when it gets dark,

39

:

which I guess, you know, eight

o'clock eight 30 is when it gets dark.

40

:

So we'd have to be out there and

then stay for 20 minutes or whatever

41

:

PJ: somebody said.

42

:

They said, if you still have

your glasses from the sore clips

43

:

that you can actually look at the

sun and see some of the flares.

44

:

Oh shooting alphabet.

45

:

No, I don't hide them.

46

:

I think we

47

:

Rod: have overcast

48

:

PJ: today.

49

:

So.

50

:

Probably can't see it.

51

:

Yeah.

52

:

Yeah.

53

:

People in new Braunfels were texting us

last week being like, Hey, you guys okay

54

:

up there and we're yeah, we're fine.

55

:

Because of the solar storm?

56

:

No, because of the storage.

57

:

Remember pastor.

58

:

Send us like the cow and the tornado

that was flying through the air.

59

:

Oh yeah.

60

:

P H train H

61

:

Rod: drain.

62

:

Yeah, they care for us.

63

:

Thank you.

64

:

We're grateful for them back.

65

:

We do.

66

:

Yeah, we're going to be

down there, not too long.

67

:

It's right.

68

:

Next month, we're going to be there for

any, see the national equipped conference.

69

:

Where you're at, you're

preaching about hell and.

70

:

Evolution.

71

:

Not together though, right?

72

:

PJ: No, that'd be a weird sermon.

73

:

Rod: Yeah.

74

:

But that's a good,

that's going to be good.

75

:

I'm excited to see some of the

guys and see some friendly faces.

76

:

Um, I'm sure that we'll see

some people from Avi and.

77

:

Maybe Tustin and HB and.

78

:

New Braunfels, obviously

there'll be there in full force.

79

:

Yes.

80

:

PJ: So our non-California

residents listening to this.

81

:

Avi Elisa VAO HB Huntington beach,

Tustin, Tustin, Tustin, Tustin.

82

:

Yeah.

83

:

Near Irvine.

84

:

Yeah.

85

:

Most people are outside of

86

:

Rod: California, even Southern California.

87

:

I've never heard of testing.

88

:

That's true.

89

:

Justin's kind of a small, I

mean, if you know the area, you

90

:

know, testing, but you're right.

91

:

It's not as popular as the others.

92

:

Yeah, treasure valley

complic, treasure valley.

93

:

They should be there to hopefully.

94

:

PJ: Yup.

95

:

Yeah, I would imagine

at least some of them.

96

:

Yeah.

97

:

That's your bet will be there.

98

:

Your will.

99

:

I don't know if the rest of them will be.

100

:

Yeah.

101

:

Yeah, so it should be a great time.

102

:

We're looking forward to that.

103

:

That'd be awesome.

104

:

We're going to figure

out what we're doing.

105

:

Cause then I'm leaving town

for two weeks after that.

106

:

And we're going to have to figure

out something to do with the podcast.

107

:

Rod: Yeah, let us know

what you want us to do.

108

:

Do you want pastor PJ

to prerecord two weeks?

109

:

Of podcast episodes.

110

:

Or should we do something different?

111

:

I mean, we're open to the idea,

although I'm nervous because what we

112

:

have here is a good thing and you know

what you don't do to a good thing.

113

:

Mess it up.

114

:

Change it.

115

:

Rearrange change it.

116

:

Yeah.

117

:

We've got a good thing.

118

:

Uh, and so I I'm afraid to, to tamper with

the, uh, with the ingredients in the soup.

119

:

Right.

120

:

And that's fair.

121

:

PJ: You know, if we got.

122

:

M C mark Cogan, N B S M C Mark Hogan.

123

:

I mean, I think he would add

a good flare to the discussion

124

:

or we do, we have Kelly lead it

125

:

Rod: and we both take a couple weeks off.

126

:

Okay.

127

:

Let's not do that.

128

:

Or our wives.

129

:

I mean, that's fine.

130

:

No.

131

:

No.

132

:

What if I got Brahm and Kendall

to lead the podcast for two weeks?

133

:

Yeah.

134

:

Bromley.

135

:

You know, I don't even know

what that would be awful.

136

:

That'd be bad.

137

:

Oh, dude, I think the novella

series of Bromley and Kendall.

138

:

I mean, this could be good.

139

:

It's you've got plots.

140

:

I might start writing it.

141

:

No one else does it?

142

:

I might have to start writing some.

143

:

Okay.

144

:

Fair enough.

145

:

No.

146

:

Novellas.

147

:

Yeah.

148

:

Self publish on

149

:

PJ: Kindle.

150

:

Yeah, by the way, if you refer to

me as pastor Bromley, I'm going

151

:

to excommunicate you on the spot.

152

:

You're just going to be gone.

153

:

Yeah.

154

:

Rod: Yeah.

155

:

Okay.

156

:

We'll see.

157

:

Yeah.

158

:

You just

159

:

PJ: invited people to do that.

160

:

I'm going to go Pharisees

from John chapter nine.

161

:

All right.

162

:

I'm going to be like,

163

:

Rod: you're put out of the synagogue.

164

:

Okay.

165

:

We'll see.

166

:

You've issued the challenge and

now it's, now someone's got a.

167

:

They already have,

168

:

PJ: and you know who I'm sure did.

169

:

Dan.

170

:

It wasn't you, it was Dan Dan

would, but he would follow it

171

:

up with, you know, I love you.

172

:

Thanks a lot, Dan.

173

:

I'm Matt, as you know on Tuesday

and it's not even Tuesday yet,

174

:

and he hasn't even done it yet.

175

:

You haven't even done anything

yet, but we know that you're

176

:

Rod: going to.

177

:

PJ: We have don't

178

:

Rod: let us down.

179

:

We have a premonition.

180

:

Is it a biblical premonition?

181

:

PJ: Would this be called prophecy.

182

:

Is this a word of wisdom?

183

:

No, no, no.

184

:

No.

185

:

Okay.

186

:

Backpedal parachute.

187

:

No.

188

:

All right.

189

:

All right, let's get to the Bible.

190

:

Let's do it.

191

:

All right.

192

:

So we talked about all

the bad stuff yesterday.

193

:

All of it we're done.

194

:

There's no more bad stuff in the Bible.

195

:

You're welcome.

196

:

Yep.

197

:

No, but, uh, that we get the response.

198

:

And so specifically in two of these

Psalms Psalm 32 Psalm 51, uh, we get a

199

:

response of David, some 32, admittedly

it doesn't say in this, the way that

200

:

Psalm 51 does that this was right on

the heels of David's sin with Bathsheba.

201

:

But I think we're on pretty safe

ground to say, it seems like this was

202

:

written right around that same time,

or at least in the ballpark of it.

203

:

Uh, the Psalm of David isn't the,

yeah, it doesn't have that, that title

204

:

that helps us say yes, this is what,

but it fits the context of what we

205

:

talked about in yesterday's podcast.

206

:

So, if you haven't listened to yesterday's

podcast, yet, I would encourage you

207

:

to go back, listen to that, and then

come back and listen to this one.

208

:

Uh, but it's a Psalm here that

celebrates the forgiveness and confession

209

:

and, and that's really what it is.

210

:

It's a celebration of these things.

211

:

Blessed is the one whose

transgression is forgiven.

212

:

Bless it.

213

:

Makarios in the Greek.

214

:

Uh, it Barack in the Hebrew means happy.

215

:

And so this is a good thing.

216

:

The one whose transgression are seen

as forgiven, whose sin is covered

217

:

over against whom the Lord counts.

218

:

No iniquity.

219

:

There's no deceit in him.

220

:

Look down at verse five.

221

:

I acknowledged my sometimes.

222

:

When we seen that the, the

enemy, the lie, the enemy tells

223

:

us is you can't confess this.

224

:

You can't bring this to life to shameful.

225

:

It's embarrassing.

226

:

People are gonna think less of you or.

227

:

You've already confessed this one enough.

228

:

You're not going to be forgiven this time.

229

:

And that's just a lie and that's

what we find here from David.

230

:

He says, I acknowledged it.

231

:

I didn't cover it up.

232

:

I confessed it.

233

:

And you four gave the inequity of my sin.

234

:

This is such a good

thing for us to confess.

235

:

And seek forgiveness, but the question

is begged here in Psalm 32 is why.

236

:

Why would God forgive?

237

:

Why would God forgive David's sin

with Bathsheba and everybody else in.

238

:

The murder of your rot.

239

:

Why w what gives.

240

:

Him the rights or the grounds to

go to God and ask for forgiveness.

241

:

For that matter.

242

:

What gives us the right.

243

:

Or the grounds to go to God

and ask for forgiveness.

244

:

And the answer is the cross.

245

:

Uh, the forgiveness that David enjoys

from the Lord here in verse five, when he

246

:

says you forgive the iniquity of my sin.

247

:

Is it forgiveness because of the cross

Davidson was paid for not through the

248

:

blood of bulls and goats, but through

the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.

249

:

So this is an anticipatory, uh,

Forgiveness that God extends to David

250

:

based on David's confidence and trust in

God that ultimately that same sin, his

251

:

sin with Bathsheba, that would happen.

252

:

A thousand years or so before the cross.

253

:

Was a tone for, by Jesus

254

:

Rod: Christ on the cross.

255

:

I would also point out too, that

you'll see in verses three and four,

256

:

that there was clearly a physical

effect to David's lack of confession.

257

:

And I think that's probably still

happening today too, among Christians.

258

:

When we conceal sin again, God disciplines

us because he loves us as a father

259

:

disciplines, his son in whom he delights.

260

:

Proverbs chapter three.

261

:

And so here, David is saying, look, I,

even, when I was sitting on my couch and I

262

:

was just pretending the sin didn't exist.

263

:

As I kept silent, my bones wasted away.

264

:

Through my groaning all day long.

265

:

So there was some elements of

suffering internally, some kind of.

266

:

No internal turmoil that

he was struggling with.

267

:

And then in verse four day and

night, your hand was heavy upon.

268

:

He felt conviction.

269

:

My strength is dried up

as by the heat of summer.

270

:

So he was lethargic.

271

:

His body was.

272

:

Aching, perhaps because his bones

were hurting and then he was just

273

:

feeling like way to conviction.

274

:

And so his energy was sapped.

275

:

There was someone who said

there was no one more unhappy

276

:

than a Christian in his sin.

277

:

And I think David shows us,

even though he's not a Christian

278

:

shows us what that looks like.

279

:

Mm.

280

:

PJ: Hmm.

281

:

Rod: That's good.

282

:

PJ: That's good.

283

:

Well, Psalm 51 then is, uh, again dealing

with similar themes here, but this is

284

:

more of the act of confession for David.

285

:

So I'm 32 is, is kind of

celebrating confession, celebrating

286

:

the benefits of forgiveness.

287

:

This is David.

288

:

Is that the context says when

Nathan the prophet went to him after

289

:

he had gone into the Bathsheba.

290

:

So this is a glimpse into David's heart.

291

:

And the journal entry.

292

:

So to speak from David following

Nathan's confrontation, and David

293

:

is pleading for mercy from God he's

confessing and he's repenting, and

294

:

he's, uh, asking God to remove his sin.

295

:

There's other themes here that

focus on atonement that is that the

296

:

wrath of God is satisfied against

our sin and also a doctrine called

297

:

expiation expiation is that idea

that our seniors removed from us.

298

:

It is expiated from us.

299

:

It almost is a, is one of those

words that sounds like what it is.

300

:

It's, it's drawn out from us.

301

:

It's D it's purged from us as some

of the language David uses here.

302

:

As well as the themes of

mercy and forgiveness.

303

:

Uh, the one that always stands out

to me in Psalm 51 is verse four.

304

:

And, and so often I'll go back to this

in counseling situations and others, but.

305

:

David says against you and you only

have I sent a and he's talking to God

306

:

and right in the rear view mirror is

the dead body of Uriah and Bathsheba.

307

:

And the, the military commanders that he

involved in the murder of Uriah and the

308

:

messengers that he involved in in going

to get Beth she'd been bring her to him.

309

:

All of these people that

David had sinned against.

310

:

And yet David says in 51, 4 against

you and you only have I sinned.

311

:

And the reason being.

312

:

Not that he was denying that he had

sinned against these other people.

313

:

But he understood where the chief

offensive lay and where he first

314

:

needed to be reconciled before he

was reconciled to anybody else.

315

:

And that's the principle

for us, Christian.

316

:

The first op in repentance and

reconciliation, when you have sinned

317

:

to confess is God doesn't mean that you

don't need to go confess to other people

318

:

or to seek the forgiveness of others.

319

:

But your first stop is the stop work gun.

320

:

Rod: And recognize too.

321

:

Verse 12, that when you're in the midst of

your sin, there is you clearly evidently

322

:

lose the joy of your salvation if you're

struggling or feeling dry in your soul.

323

:

Perhaps, perhaps I'm not saying

with certainty, but perhaps there's

324

:

sin in your life that needs to be

confessed and reckoned with so that

325

:

the joy of your salvation can return.

326

:

David says here, uphold

me with a willing spirit.

327

:

Um, make me love you,

Lord, make me desire you.

328

:

I that's how I understand that.

329

:

I think that's a good prayer

for us, whether we're in season

330

:

of great fruitfulness or out of

season, and we're not feeling it.

331

:

Lord make me love you, make me

to, will willingly do for you.

332

:

What I want to do reminds me of

a Philippians two, 12 and 13.

333

:

It is God who works in you to will

and to work for his good pleasure.

334

:

I pray for that and see what God does.

335

:

PJ: Yeah, look at verse 11, right before

that cast me not away from your presence.

336

:

Take not your holy spirit from me.

337

:

Oh, that's an important one for us to

think about as, as Christians, this is not

338

:

something that you should or need to pray.

339

:

Um, the, the relationship of the

holy spirit to the old Testament

340

:

Saint is different than the

relationship with the holy spirit,

341

:

to the new Testament believer.

342

:

We are in dwelt by the spirit

from the moment that we are saved.

343

:

We are sealed with the holy spirit

as a promise of our inheritance.

344

:

As Paul says, in Romans chapter

eight, anyone who does not have the

345

:

spirit does not belong to Christ.

346

:

So there's not a sense in which

you, as a believer should pray.

347

:

God, take not your holy spirit from

me because that's not a possibility

348

:

for you as a, as a follower of Jesus.

349

:

The spirit in the old

Testament think about Saul.

350

:

Uh, th the spirit would rush

upon Saul and then God would

351

:

remove his spirit from Saul.

352

:

And David was cognizant of that.

353

:

Apparently aware of that

in that interaction there.

354

:

And so he's praying and asking

that God would not do to him

355

:

what he had done to solve.

356

:

He's praying that God would not remove his

spirit from him, but that would continue

357

:

to, to protect them and, and have that,

that, uh, source of, of empowerment and

358

:

in presence with him in his reign here in.

359

:

Uh,

360

:

Rod: verse 11, do thank God for

the new Testament work of the

361

:

spirit who will never leave us.

362

:

Right?

363

:

He is a gift from the

savior gift from Jesus.

364

:

He will dwell with us forever.

365

:

We never have to fear the

departure of the holy spirit.

366

:

For those of us who have been

truly grafted into the vine.

367

:

PJ: Yeah.

368

:

And.

369

:

Finally as, as the Psalm

concludes verses 16 through 17.

370

:

Uh, David.

371

:

Realizes here that, that atonement doesn't

come from going through the motions.

372

:

And so sometimes again, in the aftermath

of our sin, we can think, well, if

373

:

I do enough, then it's, I'll be okay

if I, if I get enough distance from

374

:

this, if I obey enough, if I show

up at church enough, if I, if I show

375

:

up at community group, if I sing the

songs, if I listened to the sermon.

376

:

If I memorize scripture, if I do my

daily Bible reading enough, then,

377

:

then maybe my sin is just it's.

378

:

It's good.

379

:

I'm fine.

380

:

And in verse 16, David says you will not

delight in sacrifice, or I would get it.

381

:

You will not be pleased

with a burnt offering.

382

:

In other words, that's not where

a true repentant heart lies

383

:

and going through the motions.

384

:

But for 17, the sacrifices of God are

a broken spirit, a broken and contract.

385

:

Harteau God, you will not despise God

desires us to be broken over our sin.

386

:

And so to deal with are seen as

is not to say, okay, well, I just

387

:

need to get a better track record.

388

:

And eventually.

389

:

It'll it'll people will forget about it.

390

:

Like a baseball player who

strikes out four times in a game.

391

:

If he goes out the next five games

and goes, you know, four for five

392

:

and the next five games, nobody's

remembering the fourth strikeout game.

393

:

That's not how it works with God.

394

:

We need to be broken and

contract of our sinfulness.

395

:

And that's where true repentance

lies is in that attitude, not an

396

:

attitude that says, well, if I obey

enough, God will be happy with me.

397

:

Rod: What do you do at

the person who feels.

398

:

Uh, a lack of the level of repentance

that they know that they should have.

399

:

So David here says a

broken and contract heart.

400

:

You're you're not going to despise.

401

:

And there was a yes and amen.

402

:

Now I feel, I feel sorrow for my sin.

403

:

But I don't feel enough sorrow.

404

:

I'm not repentant enough for this.

405

:

How do I know that my

repentance is sufficient.

406

:

To warrant God's positive response.

407

:

PJ: Well, I think there's comfort for

that person in the fact that scripture

408

:

doesn't give us a, uh, a metric by

which to measure our repentance, to say

409

:

you've you're you're repented enough.

410

:

But I think if your desire is to say,

man, I wish I, I grieved over my sin more.

411

:

I think that's a good place

for every Christian to be in.

412

:

And I think the way that we get

there is, uh, appreciating Christ,

413

:

more understanding more of his.

414

:

His holiness, understanding

more of his righteousness.

415

:

Appreciating that the cost of our

forgiveness, more understanding

416

:

the cross and everything that

went in and took place there.

417

:

We're preaching the gospel to ourselves

on a regular basis is a, is a way

418

:

to keep that cost in front of us.

419

:

Um, and, and praying and asking God.

420

:

Okay, got it.

421

:

I'm going to ask that you

would break my heart over this.

422

:

There's a song that, that worship song

break my heart for what breaks yours.

423

:

Um, it's Hillsong.

424

:

Yeah.

425

:

Rod: Jose.

426

:

Yeah.

427

:

PJ: So don't stone us because we

referenced Hillsong in the podcast,

428

:

but it's, it's such a good line.

429

:

It's such a good line because that's man,

that's what I want in, in, in our world.

430

:

It's so easy for us to become numb.

431

:

Did the things.

432

:

Break the heart of dots.

433

:

Right.

434

:

And that goes all the way back to that

discernment sermon from a few weeks ago.

435

:

That's why we have to be careful

about what we're watching.

436

:

We don't want to numb ourselves.

437

:

To these things that God looks

at and says, I hate this, right?

438

:

This is what Christ died for.

439

:

Um, and so having that posture,

praying for those things, going

440

:

back to the gospel, going to Christ.

441

:

It's such a helpful way for us to

442

:

Rod: feel a greater burden of our sin.

443

:

Amen to that.

444

:

And let me just close

on this one last verse.

445

:

As we prepare to go to the next one

here, verse one, have mercy on Neo God,

446

:

according to my great repentance, right?

447

:

You read that there and some 51 verse one.

448

:

That's excellent.

449

:

Have mercy on me.

450

:

Oh God.

451

:

According to your steadfast love,

according to your abundant mercy, David's

452

:

not pointing at his great repentance,

but on his great savior and the great

453

:

steadfast love and mercy of God.

454

:

That's where your focus should be to.

455

:

Psalm 86.

456

:

PJ: I mean, these are three.

457

:

Great slumps to start off

with and someone 22 is too.

458

:

Don't get me wrong.

459

:

But man, just three of my

favorites right off the bat here.

460

:

86.

461

:

Uh, this is a Psalm where David is

in a time of great need and he cast

462

:

himself on the Lord believing that only

he could and would come to his aid.

463

:

So in the first.

464

:

A handful of verses here

verses one through seven.

465

:

Uh, I've kind of phrased

this David's methodology.

466

:

He he, yeah.

467

:

He's kind of talking about

here's where I am in.

468

:

Things are bad and they're really,

really hard preserve my life.

469

:

I'm godly.

470

:

Lord, save your servant.

471

:

I trust in you.

472

:

Be gracious to me, Gladden me for tea.

473

:

You are good and forgiving

abounding in steadfast.

474

:

Love to all who call upon you.

475

:

And he's talking about his

trouble and he's afflicted

476

:

and he's poor and he's needy.

477

:

And then he shifts his focus

to who God is and remembers his

478

:

theology, which counteracts that.

479

:

That, that despair, that, that despondency

there, and he remembers who God is.

480

:

And he asks the Lord, um, Not

only to deliver him, but also,

481

:

uh, verse 11, teach me Lord in the

midst of this, teach me your way.

482

:

Oh Lord.

483

:

That I may walk in your truth.

484

:

That unite my heart to fear your name.

485

:

Uh, David wants the Lord to instruct

them in the midst of his sorrow so

486

:

that he might be useful to the Lord.

487

:

And in there we get a glimpse into how

the deliverance through trial can be

488

:

useful in ultimately glorifying to God.

489

:

Um, is as we learn our lessons through

our trial, and then we go and impart

490

:

those shoes to other people as the

Lord leads us through these things.

491

:

Rod: I only go in further and

say that it has be, it is through

492

:

trials that God shapes us, forms

us and causes us to depend upon

493

:

him in a variety of circumstances.

494

:

That's true for all of us, no matter what

the situation is, the trial is the way

495

:

that God preserves us and strengthens us

and conforms us to the image of Christ.

496

:

Never try to reject it.

497

:

God will often now.

498

:

It was first Corinthians 10

31 says that no temptation is

499

:

overcoming as overcome you.

500

:

That is not common to man.

501

:

God is faithful.

502

:

He will not let you be tempted beyond

your ability, but with the temptation,

503

:

he will provide the way of escape that

you may be able to endure it, endure it,

504

:

not necessarily escape it, but endure it.

505

:

So just be aware when you're going

through a trial, this is God's design.

506

:

He's doing it for your good.

507

:

PJ: Verse 17.

508

:

Show me a sign of your favor.

509

:

That those who hate me may see and

be put to shame because you Lord

510

:

have helped me and comfort me.

511

:

Uh, pastor rod, is that something

that a Christian should pray?

512

:

God, show me a sign of your favor so that.

513

:

Those who are persecuting me,

are the people responsible for

514

:

the trial that I'm going through?

515

:

Maybe put to shame, uh, because

you're helping me uncover to me.

516

:

Rod: Um, I can tell you what I would pray.

517

:

Okay.

518

:

I would do it.

519

:

Yeah.

520

:

If I, if I felt that it was

being persecuted by, by somebody.

521

:

And I, I knew that it was

because of my faith in Christ.

522

:

I say, Lord, bless me,

protect me care for me.

523

:

And in doing so demonstrate that

I'm not doing this in my own

524

:

power, that it's you behind me.

525

:

And that way, if that's how you shame them

and bring them to a knowledge of their

526

:

own sin, then thank the Lord for that.

527

:

I would be okay with that.

528

:

How would you do that?

529

:

PJ: Yeah, I would agree with that

because I don't think this is the

530

:

same thing as, as Gideon's fleece.

531

:

This is not.

532

:

Show me a sign because I

want the fleece to be dry.

533

:

Now I want it to be wet.

534

:

And this is not lack of faith.

535

:

In fact, this is David saying,

do something that's only

536

:

explicable by, by pointing to you.

537

:

Right.

538

:

So that they would be put to shame

and go, oh, we were on the wrong,

539

:

we shouldn't have been doing this.

540

:

So, yeah.

541

:

And I think there's there's grounds there.

542

:

All right.

543

:

So 1 22, this SAMO David rejoices

over God's presence in Jerusalem.

544

:

So it was probably written after the

arc was brought to the city, most

545

:

likely, and the song of a sense.

546

:

Yep.

547

:

So.

548

:

Yep.

549

:

As you're smelling things, as you're

walking up to worship in Jerusalem.

550

:

Uh, but verses one through five

joy over being there in Jerusalem

551

:

and then verses six through nine

is your prayer for Jerusalem?

552

:

Uh, not to beat a dead horse, but

man, I can't wait till we get there.

553

:

Yeah.

554

:

I don't think that's what

it would sound like anymore.

555

:

Just think treed beside a dead horse.

556

:

Sounds like.

557

:

Just like that.

558

:

Yep.

559

:

Yeah.

560

:

So, um, but it's, it's such a

cool place that there's something

561

:

different about being there.

562

:

Like I've been to some other

cities I've been to New York.

563

:

I've been to Boston.

564

:

I've been to Philadelphia.

565

:

I've been to Los Angeles.

566

:

But you go to Jerusalem and

it's like, there's something.

567

:

What have you been in

568

:

Rod: Inglewood?

569

:

No.

570

:

Okay.

571

:

Well then when you visit Inglewood that.

572

:

In the staple center.

573

:

So, yes.

574

:

Okay.

575

:

Have you seen Watts towers though?

576

:

No.

577

:

Okay.

578

:

Well, let me know when you go to Watts

towers and then let me know if you

579

:

think Jerusalem is still pretty great.

580

:

Um, I will tell you right now,

I think Jerusalem is better.

581

:

Okay.

582

:

Well, you haven't been to Watts towers

yet, so yeah, withhold judgment.

583

:

This is where we typically see

this, uh, on the Twitter sphere when

584

:

Jerusalem is attacked, you'll see,

pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

585

:

This is where we get it from.

586

:

And that's good.

587

:

We should pray.

588

:

We should still pray for

that protection of Jerusalem.

589

:

We should still care about

the welfare of Jerusalem.

590

:

And not because we think that that's

necessarily going to be the, the

591

:

mechanism that God uses to usher

in his, his, uh, his second coming.

592

:

But we.

593

:

This is God's people.

594

:

The covenants came to them, Romans chapter

two, there, this is how God issue forth.

595

:

The word that we have even

today, we're reading the words

596

:

that come from God's people.

597

:

Now, the church is now

grafted in, so we don't see.

598

:

I want to see that the God's

people as replaced, but we're

599

:

grafted into the vine with them.

600

:

And we trust that God's going to

bring about a great revival where

601

:

he includes many more of them

as a consequence of his return.

602

:

PJ: In fact, if.

603

:

If we see just a sweeping piece

taking place in the middle east

604

:

with somebody heading that up.

605

:

Oh, yeah, that's a bad sign.

606

:

Not a good sign.

607

:

Yeah.

608

:

Yeah.

609

:

That's a sign that maybe

you miss the rapture.

610

:

Oops.

611

:

And Nikolai Carpathia has risen to power.

612

:

That was a good series.

613

:

I don't care what you say, man.

614

:

I, I, I liked it.

615

:

I enjoyed it.

616

:

It was understanding almost as good as

the novella series of Bromley and Kendall.

617

:

Rod: Which is coming

618

:

PJ: out

619

:

Rod: soon.

620

:

PJ: So stay tuned.

621

:

If you're watching, it's going to hit

the shelves of all of your favorites.

622

:

Walmart target.

623

:

Barnes and noble.

624

:

I thanks for tuning in guys.

625

:

We'll be back tomorrow with another

episode of the daily Bible podcast.
