Deep in the tannic stained waters of the Okefenokee swamp lies the beginning of a blackwater river. In a fertile river valley that was once home to many native American tribes this river served as a natural water way for hunting and trade. At 246 miles long the Suwannee river is the 3rd longest river in the state of Florida. The Suwannee is full of unbridled adventure as it cuts its route deep in the limestone of Florida. A history deeply rooted in tales that allude to cursed and unsettle able ground, lore that can be traced back to the wrong doings of the early Spanish conquistadors, Tales of murder and savagry that has lead some to believe the river is haunted. This week we are joined by Steve Christian to hear some not so haunted tales from a river as old as time.
