Hey this is Christian Baker from christianbaker.net and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation and encouragement, to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, take purposeful action and achieve the life and the goals that you want, and simply be the best that you can be.
Now, today I want to ask you a question.
"Are you living your life on autopilot or on purpose?"
All too often, we get caught up in the business and the demands of day-to-day life, that we just get in the habit of doing things without even given much thought to why we're doing them, or what those habits are doing for us.
Everything that we do is doing one of two things, it's either moving us towards, or away from the goals and the life that we want to enjoy, achieve and accomplish.
I was chatting with a client the other day, they are a very successful, self-made entrepreneur, and we were talking about his daily routines and habits and it reminded me of how often many of us don't pay enough attention to the things we do, the thoughts, the actions, the habits and routines we do in our life. Or how little time, we take to deliberately choose how we spend our time.
The reality is we all have the same 24 hours in the day, it's up to us to choose, to take the time, to do things that are adding value to our life, to do the things that are helping us move in the direction of accomplishing the life we want.
So, think about your life, think about how you spend your time and ask yourself, is what you're doing on a regular consistent basis, moving you towards or away from the things that you actually want.
Once you have given that some thought, then you can take ownership, then you can take responsibility, then you can choose, decide, and commit to implementing making some shifts in the best direction for you.
Some of these shifts can be quite small. Just start being deliberate and purposeful, decide some of the things that you can do each and every single day, that will help you move in the right direction and closer to what you want.
This could include any number of things, changes to improve your lifestyle, shifts to improve your physical fitness or create habits, daily routines and rituals that help support your mind's fitness.
So, if you aren't where you want to be in your life, if you're not feeling the way you would like to feel, maybe you could look at changing and creating some of your habits and routines. You don't have to change everything at once, just make a start and find what works for you.
Get in the habit of taking some daily time, to reflect and focus your mind on the goals that you want and help keep your momentum in the right direction.
Think about what you actually want to achieve. Think about what you want your life to look like.
Some of the habits and routines you could include are, meditation, you can journal, you can do affirmations, you can read and feed and nurture your mind do more things that are going to help improve your mind fitness. Including so regular physical activity can also be part of your healthy habits and routines.
Simply choose what you are going to do, and then do it!
But don't just do it once of for a few days, do it consistently, it's no good doing something once, or a few times and expecting it to make a significant difference to your life, instead make a commitment to do it consistently.
For years I've encouraged clients to set a 28 Day Challenge (4 weeks), and in my Personal Best members club with have a monthly "Focus 30", the aim is to choose, to decide and commit, to doing one thing every day for 30 days, that helps make a positive difference in your life, to do something that helps create momentum and move your forward in your life.
Or you could start by doing it for the next 7 days, whatever makes it easier for you to get started and keeping going, so if you feel overwhelmed, just break it down and start with today, ask yourself, "What can I do today that will help move me forward/make a positive difference?"
Then keep going for the next few days, 7 days, 30 days and by then if it's habit that's beneficial to you, keep doing it.
The repeat the process, rather than living unintentionally on autopilot and leaving your choices and habits to chance, set and new focus every month, to deliberately implement a new habit or routine, that will benefit you and your life.
Remember when you make small shifts, to your actions, your habits, your behaviours, your thoughts, then it can lead to big impacts. The ripple effect in all areas of your life can be tremendous.
Action Step - Take some time today to think about and ask yourself, "are some of your daily routines and habits working for you?", or is it time to start to deliberately choose to do some things on purpose and with a purpose, that will help move you forward.
Let me know, drop a comment, get in touch and let me know what some of your daily habits are that work for you, and what habits you're going to choose to do from this moment forward, that will help you to be the best that you can be and achieve the life that you want.
Remember what your mind believes you will achieve. so, think differently, believe in yourself, take action, and you can achieve the life that you want and be the best version of you that you possibly can go on.
You can do it, start now and make it happen!
All the best
