Shownotes

A California man accused in a multimillion-dollar fraud case led authorities on a car chase, abandoned his vehicle, and jumped into a lake with an underwater scooter. The problem? It moved about four miles per hour, and the FBI was waiting for him when he surfaced.

It sounds like a scene from a movie, but it also shows how far we can go trying to escape the consequences of our choices. Why do we sometimes put more effort into running from the truth than we would have spent facing it?

Scripture (ESV): Numbers 32:23 – “But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out.”

Reflection Questions:

Where are you tempted to avoid responsibility instead of facing it honestly?

Why can running from consequences feel easier than changing direction?
