The paradox of Zen: a practice which is both sudden and gradual. Manseong (Korean, 1897-1975) ordained as a nun in 1936 and received Dharma transmission from Master Mang Gong in 1941. In 1955 she took over leadership at Taeseong-am, a nunnery, and taught there for the rest of her life.
