Today, I want to talk about your mind.

And the episode

everything is affecting our mind, our environment, our

relationships,

our shelter, our clothing, our body,

everything, provides information and nurtures our mind or pulls

our mind into weird directions.

Today, I want to talk about the importance of emptying your

mind.

Unknown:

And this expression comes from

Unknown:

the one and only Bruce Lee. I'm a huge Bruce Lee fan for people

Unknown:

who know me.

Unknown:

You know this about me, but maybe you're just a first time I

Unknown:

hear. And yeah, Bruce Lee, martial artist. And what he left

Unknown:

behind is

Unknown:

a legacy and so many beautiful quotes that

Unknown:

are incredibly nurturing. And they make so much sense and are

Unknown:

so poetic at times. And one of his quotes is Be water my

Unknown:

friend.

Unknown:

And empty your mind at times completely. Empty yourself out.

Unknown:

I want you to notice over the next

Unknown:

couple of days, if not weeks,

Unknown:

how much you consume on a daily basis. And I don't mean food

Unknown:

when I talk about consuming. But what do you stimulate your brain

Unknown:

with? What do you listen to what do you see? Who do you interact

Unknown:

with?

Unknown:

Everything

Unknown:

is being

Unknown:

sucked in through your mind.

Unknown:

And put through filters. You generalize you distort, you

Unknown:

delete, because it's so much information that bombards you,

Unknown:

on a on an hourly basis, we can say even today.

Unknown:

And your brain learns to distinguish what is important

Unknown:

and what not. Sometimes we cut important stuff out.

Unknown:

Because it's new information and it is just too much.

Unknown:

And sometimes we let information in because we think yeah, that's

Unknown:

what we're used to. That's what we think is right that's in

Unknown:

alignment with our values from years ago. And

Unknown:

at the end of the day, it is not serving you 100%. So what I want

Unknown:

to say is that you bring tons of stuff into your mind and some of

Unknown:

the stuff is not really good.

Unknown:

Salsa stuff is really good. But maybe you could make more space

Unknown:

for the good stuff.

Unknown:

So the importance of emptying your mind is what I want to

Unknown:

emphasize today. And we can only reach that when we allow

Unknown:

stillness when we allow nothingness. Right. We are so

Unknown:

caught up and having to do things and conquer projects and

Unknown:

accomplish and achieve and run around and look busy even though

Unknown:

we're not busy, but it's good to be busy because that's what

Unknown:

society wants to see.

Unknown:

And from the early morning hours on from the moment on you wake

Unknown:

up, I want you to observe what is it that you consume first? Do

Unknown:

you look at your phone first

Unknown:

Do you talk to your partner first? To your children?

Unknown:

To your neighbor, to your dog to your cat to any kind of animal,

Unknown:

any kind of pet?

Unknown:

And then where does your mind go?

Unknown:

Imagine yourself laying in bed and just waking up.

Unknown:

Maybe you need an alarm clock, maybe you don't?

Unknown:

What is the first sensation that you feel? Is it? The blanket on

Unknown:

top of you? Is it your pillow?

Unknown:

Do you think about breakfast? Do you think about drinking water?

Unknown:

Do you think about your to do list

Unknown:

that you

Unknown:

have, like ready to

Unknown:

conquer?

Unknown:

Do you think about an argument that you've had not long ago?

Unknown:

You think about your relationships? Do you think

Unknown:

about yourself? Do you see yourself in the mirror? Maybe

Unknown:

when you get up and go to the bathroom?

Unknown:

And then what do you start consuming? Is it the news on

Unknown:

television as a newspaper or is it a podcast.

Unknown:

And what I started doing is that

Unknown:

I take a moment every morning to myself.

Unknown:

I get up I drink water, lots of water, I usually feel dehydrated

Unknown:

in the morning.

Unknown:

And then I go to my little room. I call it my yoga room, my my

Unknown:

little office. And then I spend some time there with myself.

Unknown:

And I wake up, I give myself time to wake up.

Unknown:

And then I usually do a yoga stretch. Sometimes I sit there

Unknown:

and just

Unknown:

meditate or I'm grateful.

Unknown:

But allow I allow this

Unknown:

very sweet stillness.

Unknown:

Maybe everything around you is sleeping stolen and it's dark.

Unknown:

Maybe you want to do that little practice in the evening. Maybe

Unknown:

you are a trained yogi or meditation master.

Unknown:

And this is like old news to you.

Unknown:

But even then I invite you to,

Unknown:

to ask okay, and here just follow a routine. Do you think

Unknown:

you?

Unknown:

Yeah.

Unknown:

Really give yourself a break and stillness?

Unknown:

Or do you think about the perfect position?

Unknown:

The perfect breathing, perfect look.

Unknown:

So to just be there and to observe your thoughts and to

Unknown:

know that you're not your thoughts, you're not what's

Unknown:

going on in your head? What's going on in your head is an

Unknown:

accumulation of stuff that you have consumed not only over a

Unknown:

week, but over the years, over decades, over centuries.

Unknown:

If you are

Unknown:

hundreds

Unknown:

and then you can

Unknown:

notice, okay, what are the thoughts you actually want to

Unknown:

engage in? What is it that you want to drop once and for all?

Unknown:

You see, so often, we run around and we feel exhausted, we feel

Unknown:

tired, we feel irritated, agitated, and we blame it on the

Unknown:

world outside of us.

Unknown:

But all along, we don't see what's going on inside of us.

Unknown:

And we don't realize that if we would take care of what's going

Unknown:

on inside of us, it would also hugely affect

Unknown:

our outside.

Unknown:

Did you ever notice how when you are calm and joyous?

Unknown:

Yes, you still might encounter people that are irritated and

Unknown:

angry and aggressive. But you have an effect on the people

Unknown:

around you. If you keep your cool if you keep your sweetness

Unknown:

and I believe that the secret of the people who can keep their

Unknown:

cool.

Unknown:

They engage in that practice

Unknown:

They empty their mind. They completely detached from

Unknown:

everything for a moment.

Unknown:

And it is really important to do when you have a busy life, let's

Unknown:

look at the mom who raises her children and tries to make her

Unknown:

husband's life as comfortable and joyous as possible.

Unknown:

But even if you're single and you live alone, it is important

Unknown:

because I feel the more we are alone, the more weird thoughts

Unknown:

creep up upon us. With self doubt and

Unknown:

self criticism, old stuff might come up or new, anxious

Unknown:

thoughts, depending how you're wired. I feel when we live with

Unknown:

people together, then.

Unknown:

Yeah, we accumulate stuff inside of us. But we're also kind of

Unknown:

involved with with other people's needs, and

Unknown:

what's important to them. So it's, it's important. What I

Unknown:

mean, yeah, that it's important to,

Unknown:

to practice this, no matter how you lifestyles and how busy you

Unknown:

are, or lonely you are.

Unknown:

And it is going to affect your relationships, it is going to

Unknown:

affect the people around you.

Unknown:

It is going to help you maintain a sense of self.

Unknown:

And I find that so incredibly important, especially when you

Unknown:

are in a relationship. But also when you are single, and you

Unknown:

feel like ah should I

Unknown:

don't really enjoy myself like myself, I need to change.

Unknown:

I need to look at beautiful Instagram pictures and get

Unknown:

inspired and blah, blah, blah, we're trying to, to add on,

Unknown:

because we don't feel enough. But I feel we need to strip

Unknown:

away.

Unknown:

To feel better, we don't need to add on, I think we have

Unknown:

everything inside of ourselves

Unknown:

to be successful in any way we want. We are so resourceful. Yet

Unknown:

we don't see it at times. And when you allow stillness when

Unknown:

you allow

Unknown:

your thoughts to float by, and to really pick and choose which

Unknown:

thoughts are beneficial, which habits which behaviors are going

Unknown:

to get you closer to your dreams and your goals,

Unknown:

then you can make very, very wise decisions for yourself.

Unknown:

I'm still here.

Unknown:

I'm just silent for a moment. Because I want you to

Unknown:

have a taste.

Unknown:

And sometimes doing it with another person.

Unknown:

It's a little bit easier than just starting out by yourself

Unknown:

doesn't have to be long, you can set an alarm for two minutes.

Unknown:

And then you can tell your monkey brain, your monkey mind

Unknown:

sorry

Unknown:

that you're just emptying your mind for a moment.

Unknown:

And then you can get back to where you left off.

Unknown:

And then you can increase the minutes

Unknown:

my body usually eggs for a deep breath. As soon as I start that

Unknown:

little practice my body is like ah, this is the part where I

Unknown:

actually get to breathe deeply. Because all day long I breathe

Unknown:

in a shallow way. And now I can breathe deeply.

Unknown:

So it is not only going to affect your mind and your

Unknown:

relationships but it's gonna hugely impact your body, your

Unknown:

physique as well.

Unknown:

You're gonna become more resilient to the BS out there

Unknown:

and all the stress all the change, you will feel more okay

Unknown:

with yourself

Unknown:

more grounded,

Unknown:

more confident.

Unknown:

You can close your eyes

Unknown:

while you can keep them open. Of course you don't do that while

Unknown:

operating machinery or driving around

Unknown:

and another

Unknown:

The thing that is important to mention why you do that

Unknown:

exercise?

Unknown:

If there is something going on outside of you outside, like

Unknown:

children screaming or people having a conversation or you

Unknown:

know sounds just turn the volume down, just know that the world

Unknown:

is spinning.

Unknown:

Even though you are taking a little break.

Unknown:

Of course, if there is an emergency, then

Unknown:

you act upon it. You know what I mean?

Unknown:

And to notice, if there is sounds, how your mind reacts? Do

Unknown:

you get irritated right away? Do you kind of roll your eyes and

Unknown:

I'm like, fuck, I never get a second to myself.

Unknown:

I said so loud.

Unknown:

Was that just the start the irritation?

Unknown:

It will go away with time.

Unknown:

And you will notice that, yeah, stuff can go out on outside of

Unknown:

you. But it doesn't need to bug you. You could change the story

Unknown:

about it.

Unknown:

If it is children screaming and playing just

Unknown:

think to yourself, yeah, you were a child at some point. So

Unknown:

okay.

Unknown:

They are enjoying themselves. And maybe we can learn to be a

Unknown:

little bit more playful on the future. So instead of getting

Unknown:

irritated with

Unknown:

disruptions,

Unknown:

interruptions, try to

Unknown:

make a beautiful story about it. And know that we're all

Unknown:

connected. We're all together in this.

Unknown:

We all feel the feelings from others.

Unknown:

And this is why it's so important to take a break at

Unknown:

times and to allow silence. To be in stillness.

Unknown:

To be with yourself to stop running away from yourself.

Unknown:

Because you can't escape yourself. Yes, you can distract

Unknown:

yourself you can add and distort and you know be really loud and

Unknown:

active about running away from yourself. But you can never

Unknown:

escape yourself.

Unknown:

So why not set with yourself

Unknown:

and see

Unknown:

what's coming up.

Unknown:

befriend

Unknown:

your inner child,

Unknown:

your inner self.

Unknown:
