What if the life you keep working toward is already asking to be noticed?

For high achievers, happiness can become conditional. The next promotion. The next revenue goal. The end of the chaotic month. Peace is always waiting somewhere beyond the next finish line, while the finish line keeps moving.

Amy Lynn Durham and Michele Phillips explore the emotional cost of conditional happiness, high achiever burnout, and a culture that has normalized running on adrenaline instead of alignment. Michele does not ask ambitious people to stop wanting more. She asks a more uncomfortable question: can you still feel satisfaction with where you are while remaining open to what comes next?

Their conversation moves through happiness habits, personal energy, comparison, daily rituals, and the small resets that help leaders return to center when pressure takes over. It also examines the difference between appearing happy and being honest with yourself about what you actually feel.

Inner peace is not a permanent destination. Neither is happiness. Both require a relationship with attention, values, and the stories we repeatedly tell ourselves.

Maybe the goal is not to stop achieving. Maybe it is to stop requiring the next achievement to prove that this life is finally enough.

Moments That Create Momentum:

  1. When Happiness Keeps Moving With the Finish Line – Explore how tying fulfillment to the next achievement can leave high performers constantly striving without ever fully arriving.
  2. Running on Adrenaline Instead of Alignment – Discover why urgency and pressure can feel productive while quietly disconnecting leaders from their body, values, and internal sense of direction.
  3. The Difference Between Looking Fine and Feeling Aligned – Understand why performing happiness for others is different from ignoring your own emotions and disconnecting from what is actually happening inside.
  4. A Full Life Is Not a Full Calendar – See how constant activity can become proof of success, while slowing down reveals whether those experiences actually reflect what matters to you.
  5. The Story You Repeat Becomes the Outcome You Expect – Hear how changing the language you use about yourself can shift attention from old limitations toward more conscious possibilities.

Michele Phillips:

What are the times that you you feel truly? I always say head, heart, gut, soul. Like you just feel like, man, you can't like stop me. I'm in a great place. I want people to identify when are those times that you feel that connection, and then notice when you're faking it. And we all fake it, you know. Sometimes I don't want to get into my problems with you, so I go everything's fine or whatever. But when you fake it, it's okay to fake it once in a while with outer world, but it's not okay to fake it with yourself because when you're faking it with yourself for so long,

Michele Phillips:

you're literally disconnecting from your own source of life and energy.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: Hey, it's Amy. Welcome to Create Magic at Work, where we cast visions for a future of work where business decisions ripple outward to our teams, our communities, the planet, and humanity as a whole. If you're ready to edge walk instead of sleepwalk through your leadership, you're in the right place. So let's start making magic at work. If you lead a team, build a business, or push yourself to achieve big goals, you've almost certainly fallen into the trap of "I'll be happy when fill in the blank. I'll be happy when I land this big proposal I sent through. I'll be happy

Michele Phillips:

when I hit this revenue goal. I'll be happy when I get this promotion. I'll be happy when this chaotic project finally wraps up. And let me also add: I've heard many, many people, including myself, say, "Oh, after this month dies down, then I can take a break and take a breath, and I'll be happy then. So psychologists call this conditional happiness, and for high achievers, it's a treadmill that never stops. We move the goalposts the second we cross the finish line, leaving us stuck in a cycle of constant striving and eventual burnout, or just this sense of no satisfaction. I mean, achieving

Michele Phillips:

a goal and then three seconds later, you're like, "Okay, what's next? But what if waiting for the outcome to bring you joy is the exact reason work feels so exhausting? Our guest today has spent over 25 years inside Fortune 500 boardrooms, proving that happiness isn't the reward at the end of the finish line; it's the fuel that will get you across it. Known to her clients as the Light Lady-that's L-I-G-H-T, the Light Lady. She is an executive coach, organizational development expert, host of the Write Your Outcome podcast, and the award-winning author of Happiness Is a Habit. Today, she's here

Michele Phillips:

with her new book, Energize Your Happiness, to teach us how to stop letting life happen to us, break free from conditional success, and intentionally shape our own personal energy and destiny. Michelle Phillips, thank you for being here.

Michele Phillips:

I'm so excited to have this conversation with you, Amy Lynn. Thank you.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: I am too. I'm constantly intrigued by happiness and the concept of happiness and what it really means being an SQ21 spiritual intelligence coach. The definition of spiritual intelligence is the ability to maintain

Michele Phillips:

inner and outer peace and make wise and compassionate decisions, even during times of great stress. I often wonder if we aren't looking for happiness, but rather this sense of inner and outer peace. Thoughts on that? Yeah, I think the two could be interchangeable. I mean, that's such a big word. You know, what is inner peace to you? What is happiness to you? For me, it's a sense of satisfaction where you are right now. You know, anyone listening, if I said to you, you know, what if this is it? What if where you live and what you're doing and what you've created is, you know,

Michele Phillips:

can you be okay with that? And to me, that goes hand in hand with inner peace, and it's that feeling of I like where I am, but I still have goals. I still want to do things. I still want to achieve. So it's not. I notice in my work over the years, people live in this black and white: either you're there or you're not, kind of thing. And it's a living, moving, breathing thing. And happiness unfortunately gets a bad rap, and I always tease that my husband can write the tell-all on me because I'm not always happy. And just because you wrote the book doesn't mean you don't feel every

Michele Phillips:

emotion that a human being feels. But when you're able, like you said, in the spiritual definition. To navigate those emotions and get yourself back to center, it's like a, it's an exhale.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: What about the high achievers? It feels like we might be hardwired, and I won't say high achiever. I'll say hyper achiever when we're over indexing. That we're hardwired to be in this, I'll be happy when mode, and that can feel really, really real. I get what all the experts are saying. I understand these spiritual principles of presence and and all of these things, and yet I have this sense within me that I won't be fully fulfilled and happy until fill in the blank.

Michele Phillips:

Everything you said in the beginning, right? When I get to promotion, when I get to this, I'm a human being. I fall into all those same things, and it's. I think the seeing of that is-it's just like any 12-step program. I see that I'm a hyperachiever. I think in our society we've also normalized running on adrenaline versus running on alignment. So I talk a lot about the nervous system, your mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being, so that when you get caught in that, I'm an older woman, and oh my god, I should have been in a better place by now, or I should

Michele Phillips:

have done this, or and it's like when you're able to step out of yourself and see the madness of that, you're conscious. So I always say the evolution of my work was I started with the habits of happy people, based in positive psychology, and when they did things for themselves mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally on a regular basis, they felt better.

Michele Phillips:

Then

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: Yeah, I was going to ask you because your first book is happiness as a habit. Your second book is focusing on energizing your happiness. Is that a linear thing? Is that something that you suggest we start building the habits and then move to energizing, or is can you do them together? What does that look like when we're trying to access this sense of inner peace and happiness.

Michele Phillips:

I think both books are standalones. You can read one or the other. It was the evolution of my life, and you know, or when I was young, I just wanted to be healthy and skinny, and you know, I was let's say I was vain, right? So I wanted to learn how to work out and how to eat right, and then when I got good at that, I wanted to learn my mental fitness, and I started reading like voraciously reading every spiritual book or self development book I could get. And then I worked on my finances and my mental, physical, spiritual, emotional health. And I realized when the carpet got

Michele Phillips:

pulled out under my life, and it had done that a few times, my habits are the things that kept me grounded. It doesn't mean that my life goes perfectly, but when you know you get laid off or you break up, you know my marriage broke up or you lose a loved one. Having those healthy habits help me get up and back on track better doesn't mean I'm not sad. Doesn't mean I mask my. Feelings, so the habits really kept me grounded. Then, the more I practice them, the more what I call I call the magic carpet days, and I use the word magic, and I, I, I feel like we've taken the magic out of the world. And

Michele Phillips:

some days, like things just clicked, you know, like the Uber driver was in a good mood, and I got upgraded on the plane, and I had an easy ride to you know the hotel, and I was like, and I realize that those were the days I was really I call it glowing and flowing because my habits are on autopilot. The way I think is, I will find the silver lining in anything, and people can say, "Oh, Michelle, stop! And I'm like, you know what? This works for me. But that practice of that over and over is like, if I went outside today, I always use the example. If I went outside on a sunny day,

Michele Phillips:

and I took a magnifying glass and a pile of leaves, I take all that energy of the sun and I focus it, and I start a fire. We all have this beautiful energy inside us, but we're wasting it on worry and keeping up with the Joneses and complaining and judging. So the second book was when you really focus your energy on what's important to you that makes your life meaningful. What's in your control? Because there's a lot of things in this world that are not in our control, you raise your own vibration, and when you raise your own vibration, you're connecting to others that are also on that

Michele Phillips:

vibration. And it, you know, again, it doesn't mean you don't have a bad day ever. But then you realize it's a day that you cooked up, so to speak, by how you're focusing your energy.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: What are the differences between somebody faking it and somebody tapping into these habits and energizing themselves? And I mean that in a compassionate, non-judgment way. Yeah, a lot of us might be going through something difficult in our lives, and then we show up at work. Everything's fine. Like it's all good. I'm great, and that can lead to toxic positivity and those types of things. Where's the line with the individual where we're putting on this fake happiness or trying maybe a little too hard Versus being authentic in this exploration of daily habits and energizing our

Michele Phillips:

inner peace and happiness.

Michele Phillips:

I always want when I work with my clients, I want them to know what alignment feels like. So I ask them, like, what are the times that you you feel truly? I always say: head, heart, gut, soul. Like you just feel like, man, you can't like stop me. I'm in a great place. And people say to me while cooking, while walking the dog, while dancing. You know, run. You know, runners high. So I want people to identify when are those times that you feel that connection, and then notice when you're faking it, and we all fake it. You know, sometimes I don't want to get into my problems

Michele Phillips:

with you, so I go, everything's fine or whatever. But when you fake it, it's okay to fake it once in a while with outer world, but it's not okay to fake it with yourself because when you're faking it with yourself for so long, you're literally disconnecting from your own source of life and energy, so for me, that's where the habits come in. It's those simple daily rituals, and ritual is something we've lost in our society. Also, like everything is rushed and run, and I love lighting a candle and like a tea service. Or my husband's British, so sometimes we we make the tea in the teapot, and you

Michele Phillips:

put out the nice china, and we're just a kind of grab your Starbucks and go, you know, world. So the ritual of how you go to sleep at night, the ritual of how you wake up in the morning, and creating rituals, I always say that motivate, inspire, and educate you. I know when I sit down in the morning with my cup of coffee and my book, I'm going to read three pages of something. I'm going to journal and I'm going to feel connected. It might take 10 pages. It might, but it just gives me that good feeling. And my biggest thing, Amy, is helping people know that you create this feeling. Nobody can

Michele Phillips:

give it to you, but you already know how to create it unconsciously. I want you to start creating it consciously, and then the biggest thing I've learned over the years, my one last thought on this, is it's not about staying there because I wish I could stay in this happy place. You just don't, you know. I mean, I go online, something in two seconds, you're like, bam, you're out. It's like hitting the rumble strips on the road. You're like, but the the skill is in getting back there. All the resets during the day. There's so many mini resets where you get out of alignment. And for me, I

Michele Phillips:

know when I'm working at my desk and everything starts getting tight because I'm I'm like you. I want to. I'm hyper achieving. I want to get all this stuff done and. And I'm like, you're not breathing, Michelle. Take a walk, get up from your desk, and just that mini reset and many of those during the day just helps people stay centered, grounded, peaceful. Those words you used earlier

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: in the spiritual intelligence language in the SQ21, it almost sounds like you're explaining the recognition of the ego versus the higher self, and being able to operate from your higher self a larger percentage of time if you participate in building these habits and energizing your happiness. There was something also that you said that stood out to me when you said you tell people, "Well, this works for me. If others are pessimistic

Michele Phillips:

or skeptical about the things that you're doing, and I want to talk about that because I know that some of us feel like if we aren't all by ourselves, if we're surrounded by other humans at times, and we're getting up and wanting to do these rituals and journaling, and then if somebody says a comment like "Oh gosh, like what is that? or you know, how do we hold our space and not let others affect building those habits and energizing our happiness? Yeah, it's interesting, you know, that you say that. I mean, early in my life when I became so, I tried to be very healthy and

Michele Phillips:

eat healthy, and every my whole family just mocked me all the time. Oh, Michelle's eating a cookie! Oh my goodness, look at her! She's eating a cookie, you know. And I was like, oh my gosh! So, you know, you do get some ribbing, unfortunately, when you're growing like this. So it's finding that safe space. If that safe space is locked in the bathroom, if it's running to a coffee shop for 20 minutes a day, putting your earbuds in, people don't have to know what you're listening to. But then the biggest thing is finding other believers. I always say, look for the believers. Who are the

Michele Phillips:

other communities, the other people that are doing this and getting results? You know, because food is a great analogy. You know, if you're hanging with the fast food crowd, you're going for fast food. But I know if I go to eat with one of my healthy friends, man, we're eating healthy. Their behavior affects my behavior. So it's really looking for your people, not giving up. I've lost some friends over the years over this because you know you're growing in a different direction, but it's it's that that resonance. I tell my clients, I want you to try this on for 90 days, and you be the

Michele Phillips:

judge. This is not about me. My first book is 44 habits that I use. I want you to pick two of them and try them on. Like try it on a coat. Does the coat fit? Do you want to wear it? Does it not fit? Try something else. Do you need it altered? Alter it. I really want people to figure this out for themselves. You know, how much sleep do you need at night? When you wake up on eight hours, do you feel like you got a good night's sleep, or do you need less than that? So people are so willing to look for the experts, and I always say I'm just figuring this out like everybody else. I mean, I've

Michele Phillips:

studied it a long time, but if you really are conscious, you know how much sleep you need. You know when your body's full when you're eating, but when you're unconsciously wolfing a sandwich and eating a bag of potato chips, which I do often, and then you go, "Oh my gosh, where did that bag of potato chips go? I missed it. I wasn't conscious, so I think the slowing down, paying attention to what's working for you, and then being true to yourself. I mean, Amy, I'll tell you just a quick short story. When I was my 20s, I met my first husband was not white, and when I met him, you know, I

Michele Phillips:

was told like you can't date him. We're going to kick you out of the house. It was this whole rigmarole, and somewhere deep in my soul, I knew this man was the best thing that I could do right now. This was the best decision I could make, and I was willing to give up my whole family. And one night, all my grandparents, two sets of grandparents, and my parents like called me down to like called the family jury and said, "Michelle, you know you can't continue seeing this man, and you're going to be blacklisted, and people aren't going to like you, and da da da. And my grandmother stood up for

Michele Phillips:

me, and she said, "Do you love him? What you know?

Michele Phillips:

And she just really started talking to me, and she really taught me in that moment, being true to yourself is hard, but it's worth it. And that was our vows at the wedding. I said, you know it might not have always been easy, but it was worth it. But it's really knowing what's right for you, not for Michelle, not for Amy. People are so quick to you know read what the experts say and just do what they say.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: Reminds me of our friend. I should have mentioned in the beginning, Sandra Barchman. Reminds me of her work on. Ferocious compassion. She's our resident voice and presence coach here at Create Magic at Work, and her quote to have the courage to be disliked. It's one of my favorites and one of my go-tos. Yeah, if the listeners and and leaders of Create Magic at Work are are wanting to shift from this chasing external happiness to cultivating internal inner

Michele Phillips:

peace and happiness. What are two or three of your favorite habits from your book that you could share with us that we could try on like a coat and see if we like it, yeah. And it's so simple, and that's what I think. They're not hard things to do. They're hard maybe to do continuously. So the first thing I say, Amy, is if you do something three times a week, it's a habit. Don't beat yourself up if you don't do it every day. But my biggest things are the journaling, reading something in the morning that inspires, motivates, or educates you shifts your energy immediately. So

Michele Phillips:

that's one of them. The other thing is being with nature. I heard a crazy statistic the other day. I think I can't. I'm going to misquote it, but it was very high number of people don't spend any time outdoors. So connecting with the breathing earth, the ground, the trees, all is so good for your nervous system, and and shuts off the monkey brain after a while. So one of my you know things is go outside and play, you know, read, journal, and then gratitude is, you know, another thing that I always say: don't be rote about your gratitude. It's so easy to say I'm grateful for my family. I'm

Michele Phillips:

grateful for my job. I'm grateful for my kids, and move on and think checked it off the list. But I really want you to feel it. That's the difference. I'm grateful for this chair I'm sitting on. I'm grateful that my coffee maker worked this morning. I'm grateful for this fun mug in my hand. Like, and I like to write in my gratitude journal until I feel a shift in my energy, and that's I think Amy the misconnection most people have. We're living too much in our head and not enough connected to our heart and our soul, and our soul. Everyone has all this wisdom and this soulfulness inside them,

Michele Phillips:

and that's why I love the work you're doing. It's bringing soul back to the workplace, you know, don't just be that walking toward what do I call it? Oh my God, walking corporate head, talking corporate head, whatever. You know, bring you to the workplace. Don't leave you in the car.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: So, going out in nature, journaling on gratitude, and what was the first one?

Michele Phillips:

Reading something that inspires, motivates, or uplifts you. I have an Audible.com account. There's so many podcasts like yours out there that will uplift people. I just listened to your last episode on Soul Weary, which was so good. So there's so much good content out there that if you're, you know, I always say, what's your like balance of education versus entertainment? If you're just watching doom and gloom, scary movies, playing video games, scrolling on useless social media sites, you're just it's like a diet of junk food versus giving yourself something that makes

Michele Phillips:

you feel good about humanity and yourself.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: I find it quite interesting that in the era that we live in, with all of the technology that we're surrounded in, that much of the advice and offerings that we all give each other in a good way is basically to be a human, in my humble opinion, when we are giving ourselves permission to breathe, there's breath work classes and meditation, and I know there's a science behind certain ways to breathe and things like that. But I'm like, okay, so now we have monetized breathing. We have monetized water in a good way, right? Because we're surrounded by this technology. But we've

Michele Phillips:

monetized taking people into nature and retreats or things like that. I'm like, wow, this is where we've gotten. We have to remind each other the deeply human piece of what it is to be a human on the planet. I mean, even me, I will work all day and be like, "Oh my gosh, I haven't stepped outside. I had our the host of our show on on our network, Vish. He's a jyotishi in bending the light. He's like, in your Vedic chart, you have to stand on the earth. You have to stand, and and it grounds you, and it helps you with your anger. Because I'm a fiery person, so I'm going to another. Yes, yeah.

Michele Phillips:

Like this is the advice I'm getting: is to stand on earth. I guess how we break through that. Is the things you're talking about, and they're so simple and they're free,

Michele Phillips:

and that's the thing too. I mean, there's a gadget for everything, and you're so right. And we have, you know, I always say meditation is like a $5 million industry, and it's all geared towards shutting our mind down, and you know, it's pushing back, saying enough's enough, which is why I got off the corporate wheel in 2000 because I was like I am not here to you know take you know two weeks off a year out of like you know 52 weeks and just kill myself. I still want to contribute. I always say I wanted a full life, not a full calendar. So it's really owning the simple

Michele Phillips:

things. And you know, it was funny the other day. My husband and I and my granddaughter was here from England, and my stepson and my and his wife, and we went to the beach, and it was just the most beautiful night. We made eggplant sandwiches from the garden with some mozzarella and some basil from the garden, and we went to the beach, and it was the most magical evening of just sitting in beach chairs, breaking bread, you know, jumping off the lifeguard chair with my granddaughter, silly stuff. And then the next day, I ran into a friend, and she said, "What did you do last night? And then I

Michele Phillips:

said, "I went to the beach. And and then she was like, "Oh, I went to this fancy engagement party, and when you walked in, you got this, and then you got that, and then there was this big tent, and then there was like, you know, I don't even know. It was like the most over the top engagement party I ever heard of, and then I thought to myself, "Is my little beach experience important enough? But then I'm like, "But that made me so happy, and it didn't cost me anything. So nothing wrong with the big over the top engagement party, but it's where is our moral compass? Where are our values? And

Michele Phillips:

really knowing yourself and being okay with that, I think, is where you know we've come as a society. More isn't always better.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: Yeah, I think that's one of the biggest happiness thiefs is comparison, because we lose sight of what's important to us when we fall into this comparison trap, what I'm hearing you say is actually would prefer this beautiful beach dinner that I had with my family over this extravagant party my friend went to, and both can be beautiful experiences, and we can stay out of that comparison, and then just be happy for each other. There was a social media post that you did that I remember thinking I have to ask her about this, and now I can't remember exactly what it was, but

Michele Phillips:

it was something about how you've had the best summer of your life because you said no to a lot of things, and I just came out of a meeting with someone that was talking about how they've said yes to a few things that they are regretting, and this power of saying no is on my mind right now. Do you want to share a little bit about the best summer of your life with us? Now we can get a piece of that. Yeah,

Michele Phillips:

well, let me tell you what I'll tell you what led up to it was crazy two years of running and going. And part of me, when I look at it now, I didn't notice it when I was in it, but I think I was trying to prove like I'm successful and I'm going here and I'm going there. And I was every year. At the end of the year, I make my photo album, and I went through 2025, and I said to myself, "Oh my gosh, you literally went on almost 12 vacations, and they weren't all vacations, but four big vacations in 2025. And then I turned a lot of work trips into extended weekends with my

Michele Phillips:

husband. Oh, we're going to Phoenix. Come to Phoenix. Oh, I'm going to Mexico. Come to Mexico. And when I looked at the year, I thought, okay, what did I gain from moving so fast? And they were all beautiful experiences. But as I said, the evolution of my work is right-the habits, the energy, and then the consciousness. Was I conscious in all those running here, running there? And I said, January 2026, I am going to slow down. I am going to be conscious. I'm not going to say yes to every engagement, every you know, in work. I say yes to pretty much most of the work engagements, but I

Michele Phillips:

also was extending them, and then I was saying yes to every social engagement, and I mean, I got I started painting rocks. Amy, it was the most I called it rock therapy. I thought I'd never even have time to be creative and just play, so I took out my old paints from decades ago. I got some rocks, and I it was the most peaceful experience. I was just like looking forward to it and floating more in the pool with my husband, and not entertaining as much. We live in a place where people want to visit in the summer, and instead of inviting a lot of people, I just said yes to the people that said,

Michele Phillips:

"Can we come out? And that was wasn't as. As many, so we got more weekends with empty calendars where we could just weed the garden and simple, simple, simple things. It doesn't mean that I'm never going to speed up again, but I think it really, you know, showed me, you know, that I think I was trying to prove something. I don't know what I was doing, but I wasn't making conscious decisions.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: I can see that sometimes I've done so many things where I'm like, "Gosh, I wasn't even really there, you know. But it was a beautiful experience. Thank you for modeling that for all of us. It almost gives all of us permission to go out and do the same, which I think is really great to be conscious in those moments. We've kind of talked about this already, but what does one recommend that we can do a ritual to write our own outcome? We're all writing our outcome, so to speak,

Michele Phillips:

and we don't realize it. We're writing our outcomes by the story we're telling. I can never find the right man. I always get you know all my bosses are a jerk. I can't get ahead. Whatever the story we're telling, so I just want people to shift the story. And it doesn't have to be a full out amazing. It could be like I get a little bit better every day. I'm getting better at knowing myself. I'm getting better at making good decisions. I really know what it feels like to be aligned in my personal energy alignment, and I'm getting better at getting there on a regular basis.

Michele Phillips:

So when you start writing your new outcomes, you know then you start living them. So that's what I mean by write your outcome, and I say every cell in your body is listening to every single thing that comes out of your mouth, and you know what's that funny quote that we wouldn't talk to our friends the way we talk to ourselves. So you know, writing an outcome that you really inspires you and that you want to create.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: I like that. The idea that I'm getting from you sharing this is sitting with what is my story I'm telling myself about this situation that I'm in, or that I think I'm in, and how can I rewrite this story, even if it's something hard that we feel like we're going through, rather than writing about how hard it is. Maybe it's writing about how courageous and resilient you are, and how you will get through it, and how every day something gets better. And this is what you've noticed: just flipping the script a little bit from higher self versus ego versus that place of fear and

Michele Phillips:

defensiveness and the protector, but that might not always need to be there to protect you. That shifting the write your outcome from your inner wisdom and compassion and love, and what does that story sound like to you? That's what I'm getting from your write your outcome. I love that the write your outcome, and I'm so glad you have the right your outcome podcast. Okay, I'm gonna pull a card for everyone listening, isn't this excited? Yeah, we'll see what we get. So before we started recording, Michelle was mentioning how she identifies as an edge walker. I've been living my life as an

Michele Phillips:

edge walker, and I did not even know it had a term. It's one of the five archetypes of change. There's no judgment on any of the five. The edge walker is someone that looks to the future with creative, positive visualization and has a strong sense of the spiritual in their lives. They're really like the true wise and effective change agents in the workplace-the people that can hold opposing views in the same space and create win-win results and and those types of things. So right away, the manifesting card. There's five skills and five qualities of an edge walker, and so

Michele Phillips:

manifesting is a skill of an edge walker. And we got the manifesting card. The definition is the ability to take a thought, idea, or vision, and to take practical, concrete steps to bring it into being, and then the affirmation for everyone listening. This is meant for you and all of us. When you hear this, I clearly articulate my intention. I think and feel that it has already happened. Well, if that's not speaking to write your outcome from what we've been talking about. I don't know what

Michele Phillips:

I love the card. It's beautiful. Yeah, these affirmations are written from Dr. Judy Neal, who created the Edgewalker framework, and then I co-created the deck with her. We used AI to create the the graphics.

Michele Phillips:

Oh, they're gorgeous.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: I clearly articulate my intention. I think and feel that it has already happened. Any final thoughts for us on that idea on that card, Michelle?

Michele Phillips:

Because I want to give you some credit. I want to give you and Sandra, and there was a couple other people that maybe don't know, but. I have been living with one foot in the spiritual world and one foot in the corporate world my whole life, and I think I I use a lot of the language that's more corporate, where you bring in the spiritual language, and because I I take the same thing and I make it palpable and articulate it so someone in a leadership position can accept it and own it. But talking to Sandra and being on her podcast and talking to you and then learning

Michele Phillips:

about Edge Walkers and then another two other people in my life really gave me the courage to create this season's podcast for me, which is walking the edge between business and spirituality for conscious leaders and uplifters. So I listened to that card that you put there, and I didn't maybe have the courage to take that step until you know just recently. So I thank you.

Michele Phillips:

Amy Lynn Durham: Okay, I'm going to say you're welcome because I'm going to receive that instead of kicking back the compliment as I tend to do sometimes. Thank you, and I'm excited to listen to that. That's right in line with everything we love here at Crete Magic at Work and at Magic Thread Media. So thank you. That's going to be an exciting new chapter in your podcast, Write Your Outcome for sure. I'll put the link to your podcast in the description of the show too, Michelle. Thank you so much for bringing some magic to everyone today, and for sharing with us how to create habits and how

Michele Phillips:

to energize our lives, our happiness, and cultivate inner peace. Thank you for being here. Thank you.
