What if anxiety isn't the problem?

What if people-pleasing isn't the problem?

What if overthinking isn't the problem?

What if they're all messengers?

In this powerful Tammy's Takes episode, Tammy explores one of the most important lessons from her conversation with voice coach Barbara McAfee: the emotions, needs, and experiences we suppress don't simply disappear—they often find another way to be heard.

Growing up in dysfunctional homes teaches many of us that having a voice isn't safe. We learn to stay quiet, avoid conflict, suppress emotions, and prioritize everyone else's needs ahead of our own. But while the mind may forget, the body remembers.

In this episode, Tammy explains how unresolved stress, emotional suppression, nervous system dysregulation, and survival patterns often show up through symptoms, triggers, behaviors, and even the voice itself.

You'll also learn how voice frequency analysis through the AO Scan can help uncover hidden stress patterns, emotional burdens, and energetic imbalances that may be affecting your health, relationships, and quality of life.

If you've ever felt disconnected from yourself, struggled with anxiety, chronic stress, people-pleasing, or felt like something was wrong but couldn't quite explain it, this episode is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

• Why many adult children lose their voice

• How suppressed emotions affect the body

• The connection between trauma and nervous system dysregulation

• Why symptoms may be messages rather than problems

• How the body communicates through stress patterns

• What your voice may reveal about your emotional and physical well-being

• How AO Voice Scans can help identify hidden patterns

• Practical ways to begin reconnecting with yourself

The emotions you never expressed, the boundaries you never set, the truth you never spoke, and the needs you never voiced often continue speaking through your body until they're finally heard.

If you're curious about what your body may be trying to communicate, I'd love to help.

My AO Voice Scan analyzes thousands of frequencies from a short voice recording to help identify stress patterns, emotional burdens, energetic imbalances, and areas that may need support.

Speaker:

Welcome back to Tammy's Takes,

where we take powerful conversations

2

:

with our guests and turn them

into practical strategies you

3

:

can use right here, right now.

4

:

So this week, I had the pleasure of

speaking with Barbara McAfee, a voice

5

:

coach who has spent decades helping

people reconnect with something many

6

:

of us lost a long time ago, our voice.

7

:

And no, I'm not just talking about the

voice that comes out of your mouth.

8

:

I'm talking about your ability to

speak up, to express your needs,

9

:

to tell the truth, to be seen,

to be heard, to take up space.

10

:

And if you're an adult child of a

dysfunctional upbringing, chances are

11

:

you know exactly what I'm talking about.

12

:

Because many of us learned at a very

early age that having a voice wasn't safe.

13

:

Maybe you were told all

the time to be quiet.

14

:

Maybe you were ignored.

15

:

Maybe you were punished for

expressing your emotions.

16

:

Maybe you became the peacekeeper,

the people pleaser, the

17

:

fixer, or the invisible child.

18

:

Whatever your role was, there's a

good chance that somewhere along

19

:

the way, you learned to disconnect

from your authentic voice.

20

:

And here's what I wanna talk about today.

21

:

What if your body never forgot

what your voice really reveals?

22

:

One of the reasons I love doing the AO

Voice Scan that I talk about a lot on my

23

:

podcast is because it confirms something

I have believed for a very long time.

24

:

Your body is always talking.

25

:

The question is whether

or not we're listening.

26

:

people often ask me, "Tammy, how

can a voice scan tell you something

27

:

about what's going on in the body?"

28

:

Great question.

29

:

Because your voice isn't just sound.

30

:

Your voice is vibration.

31

:

Every cell in your body

vibrates at a frequency.

32

:

Every organ, every tissue, every

system, every emotional state,

33

:

everything carries frequency.

34

:

We are all frequency

and we are all energy.

35

:

The AO Voice Scan that I do analyzes

over 170,000 frequencies within a

36

:

short voice recording and compares them

to established frequency signatures.

37

:

What makes it fascinating is that many

times it identifies stress patterns before

38

:

people are consciously aware of them.

39

:

I can't tell you how many times

someone says, "Nope, that's not me."

40

:

And then five minutes later

they say, "Well, actually,

41

:

now that you mention it…"

42

:

And suddenly they realize that they've

been carrying something for years.

43

:

Your body tells the truth.

44

:

Barbara talked about being the

secret keeper in her family.

45

:

That hit me so hard because so

many of us became secret keepers.

46

:

We kept the family secrets.

47

:

We kept the abuse secret.

48

:

We kept the addiction secret.

49

:

We kept the dysfunction secret.

50

:

We kept our feelings secret.

51

:

And eventually we got so good at

hiding from everyone else that

52

:

we started hiding from ourselves.

53

:

But your body doesn't lie.

54

:

Your body keeps the score.

55

:

Your body remembers.

56

:

And this is exactly why so many

people become frustrated with

57

:

traditional personal development.

58

:

They say, "I know what to do.

59

:

I know why I do it.

60

:

I understand my childhood.

61

:

I've read the books.

62

:

I've been to therapy."

63

:

Yet they still feel Because understanding

isn't the same thing as regulation.

64

:

Awareness isn't the same thing

as healing, and insight isn't

65

:

the same thing as integration.

66

:

So one of the most common things I

see in scans is nervous system stress.

67

:

People don't even realize how much

survival mode they're living in.

68

:

Their body's adapted to stress so

completely that it feels normal.

69

:

They're exhausted, they're anxious,

they're people-pleasing, they're

70

:

hypervigilant, they're overthinking,

they're carrying guilt, they're carrying

71

:

shame, they're carrying resentment,

they're carrying old emotional wounds,

72

:

and the scan often reflects what their

body has been trying to communicate.

73

:

Sometimes it shows up in stress markers.

74

:

Sometimes it shows up in hormone patterns.

75

:

Sometimes it shows up

in digestive patterns.

76

:

Sometimes it shows up

in inflammatory markers.

77

:

Sometimes it shows up in

energetic imbalances in general.

78

:

But over and over and over

again, I see the same thing.

79

:

The body tells a story long

before the mind catches up.

80

:

One thing Barbara said that really

stood out to me, she said that often

81

:

the voice people struggle with most

contains the gift they need the most.

82

:

I see something very similar in

my work that I do with my clients.

83

:

The things we avoid are often clues.

84

:

The emotions we suppress are clues.

85

:

The triggers react to are clues.

86

:

The symptoms we ignore are clues.

87

:

The body is constantly trying to

guide us in the right direction.

88

:

Not punish us, not attack

us, simply guide us.

89

:

When we stop looking at

symptoms as enemies and start

90

:

looking at them as information,

everything will begin to change.

91

:

I want you to do something this week.

92

:

Pay attention to your voice.

93

:

Notice how you sound

when you're confident.

94

:

Notice how you sound when you're anxious.

95

:

Notice how you sound when you're around

someone you can trust, and notice how

96

:

you sound when you're around someone

you don't really trust so much.

97

:

Notice how your body feels.

98

:

Notice what happens in your throat, what

happens in your chest, what happens in

99

:

your stomach, because your body is giving

you valuable information all day long.

100

:

Most of us have simply never been taught

how to listen to that information.

101

:

The lesson from Barbara's

episode really isn't about voice.

102

:

It's about permission.

103

:

Permission to be seen, to be heard,

permission to tell the truth, permission

104

:

to take up space, permission to

reconnect with parts of yourself

105

:

that got buried in survival mode.

106

:

And if you've spent years disconnected

from your body, your emotions, or

107

:

your intuition, the AO Voice Scan

can be an incredible place to start.

108

:

Not because it diagnoses you, not

because it magically fixes everything,

109

:

but because it often helps people

see patterns they've been missing.

110

:

It helps create awareness, and

awareness is where change begins.

111

:

. So if you're curious about what

your voice might be revealing about

112

:

your body, your nervous system, your

stress patterns, or your emotional

113

:

health, I would love to help.

114

:

You can book a complimentary

voice scan consultation using

115

:

the link in the show notes.

116

:

We'll walk through your results together

and help you better understand what

117

:

your body may be trying to communicate.

118

:

Because sometimes the answers you're

looking for aren't outside of you.

119

:

They're already inside of you.

120

:

You just need to learn how to listen.

121

:

Until next time, remember, your

symptoms are information, your body is

122

:

communicating, and your voice may be

telling a bigger story than you realize.

123

:

So take care.

124

:

I hope to see you back next

week, and I am looking forward to

125

:

giving those complimentary scans

to as many people as possible.

126

:

So you have a blessed day, and

I will talk to you very soon
