Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind bending Monday as we join our hearts and minds as one, drawing closer to the King of Kings and glorifying his name.

First, we're going to resume our teaching in Genesis.

Getting close to closing out chapter 13.

We're going to start with verse 12, but actually I'm going to back it up to verse 10.

But basically, Abraham stayed where he was while lot moved towards Sodom.

This is clearly a lesson for us to be cautious about what and who and where we draw close to.

Even though something may appear to be appealing, we need wisdom and guidance from the Lord.

There is great danger in drawing close to evil.

Next, it turns out that the people of Sodom, according to verse 13, were unusually wicked and deeply sinful against the Lord.

There are few cities that have ever received sin such a description.

But the people in this area were overindulging in sin.

Sexual immorality, homosexuality were pervasive in this city.

And it was so severe that as you recall, God couldn't even find 10 righteous people in that place.

Wow.

Finally, the Lord then makes a promise to Abram Abraham.

He says, look in every direction you can.

North, south, east and west.

I'm going to give you this land.

There was no direction in which Abraham could look where blessings did not await him.

Can I just say that again?

I want you to hear what I just said.

There was no direction in which Abraham could look where the blessings did not await him.

Didn't matter if we went north, south, east or west.

Get that?

In fact, God instructed him to walk in every direction so he could see what he was being given.

Abraham was so blessed and had such a deep connection with God, he built an altar to the Lord that my brothers and sisters is a powerful example for us.

I know the Lord does many marvelous things for everybody all the time.

If you believe that's something you would like to share, we want to give you that opportunity.

That's how we'd say it.

If it's on your heart, great.

If you have something you want to share that the Lord has done, that really either got you through it, answered a prayer, deliverance from this, freedom from this.

Got out of this, this changed this, this multiplied whatever it is, praise the Lord that he did it and share it.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so if you've got a prayer request, let's bring it.

Because prayer changes the universe.

I know there's politicians and people in the media and academia and Hollywood that don't understand that.

But that's their loss.

Why should it be ours?

Not going to happen.

So if you've got something to pray about, let's pray about it.

Let's see the universes and people's lives change as well as the overall universe.

Maybe you got something you just want to share, something on your heart and mind.

Anytime you do that, your life is better.

Now, if you don't want your life to be better, don't spend time with God there.

That'll solve it for everybody.

I'm definitely going to do it between now and Monday of next week.

I promise you it doesn't matter what you think is going on in the political realm.

The truth of the matter is that the media is going to be much more ferocious than they have ever been before.

Everybody's thinking, oh, it's going to go lighter now.

No, it's not.

That's absurdity.

The media, they function as propagandists who try to declare the narrative.

A journalist journals, makes notes of all the things that are happening.

A propagandist tries to create a narrative.

You understand that difference?

We hardly have any media in this country.

We do have a lot of propagandists on all sides.

They're going to try and shame people who stand by the Bible.

But to be ashamed of Jesus or his words will make him ashamed of us.

That's a no go, not happening.

Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

Read Luke 9:26.

Not just the scars that he has as an individual, but the scars that Jesus took upon himself.

And it gives us the opportunity to know him there better.

When I tell them I'm a Christian, they start asking me questions.

Well, did he hang himself or did his bowels all burst out?

I say, well, after a while, hanging there, yeah, his bowels.

I mean, it all happened.

People try to throw you up on that.

See, what they want to do is they want to go, is it A or B?

It's both A and B.

See, anytime there's a question.

I actually had a college professor teach me this.

And it's like, no matter what, he goes, there's more than two.

And so it's like, wow, that's really good.

A great way to think of things right there.

And this is both.

What's so amazing, and you have to love this is how compassionate, though, and graceful that Jesus was.

And I think people will miss this.

Jesus knew he was not, you know, he was not the upper level, and he still let him cover the money.

It's interesting that Jesus put him at that point.

Yeah, there's a lesson there, too.

Yeah, there's just so much there.

So much there.

My brother, can I pray over you?

Couple of months I've been talking in this group defending the gospel, and one guy Asked me that very question.

I said, well, if he hung himself and nobody cut him down, can you imagine.

And I hate to do this to your listeners, but can you imagine just how bloated he got before?

That's right.

That's exactly right.

That's.

No, that's exactly right.

And it's just really.

It's just a whole.

I mean, it's a horrible, horrible death.

Oh, my God.

Well, you can tell me, with your Jewish background, nobody would have wanted to take him down after he hung himself, right?

Yeah, they wouldn't have touched him.

So then the theory is, did the body.

Did it decay out and fall, or did the branch break?

Or.

It's like, that's the stuff you don't know.

And it's like that stuff that doesn't matter.

Here's the key.

He hung himself.

He eventually spilled all his blood into that.

Spilled it into that valley.

And that was the call for the Son of perdition.

And some people said, well, you never know.

Judas might have made it.

And it's like they call him the Son of Perdition.

Don't count on it.

I mean, that's really.

That's kind of how I would say it.

You know, I wouldn't miss that title that he was given.

But we'll just move on from there.

It's like, wow.

Of course it scratched the car to no end.

Remember, I'm Jewish and I'm trying to follow the Christmas holiday.

It's got nothing to do with my Christianity.

I like Christmas, I like the season, and so on and so forth.

I have no problem selling celebrating any specific time, picking a time.

And we're as close as we can be.

Celebrating the birth of Christ.

It's awesome.

It's a great time of year.

But you're talking about me fighting a tree and I'm fighting the tree and I'm fighting the tree and I hack off a few branches and unfortunately what I hacked off with the, with the ax wasn't enough because I was right there again holding the Christmas tree with my feet on the door, trying to pull it in.

Hey, you know what?

The Christmas tree was not coming in.

So you know what I did?

I hacked off a few more pieces, but then instead of just trying to pull the tree in, I hacked off a few more pieces.

By this point, I have decided that Christmas is a pagan holiday that only people who are supporting Christmas presents have created.

And Jewish people who believe in Jesus should not be celebrating Christmas.

And I'm crashing and I've got the act up and I'm crushing and I'm gonna get this tree in.

And you would not believe it, but after doing that for 15 minutes, I still could not get the tree in the house.

Father, we come before you right now and I thank you for my daughter and for my son in law.

And Lord, we just lift up their situation for the kids sake that they could get a stay angel, somebody that can help them.

That is who they are connecting to, who they think would be just best.

As you lead and guide and direct them.

They're both willing to say the same thing.

You've heard them tell me, Lord, not their will, but your will be done.

But Lord, give them that graciousness, please and give them that little bit of a break so that they can breathe a little.

I just ask for your blessing upon them, your encouragement in their hearts and minds.

So watch over yours first and help them.

Imagine yourself on a rocket ship racing at a thousand miles an hour into space.

So the situation for the woman turned out to be fine.

But remember, he's there with Jairus.

And Jairus daughter is dying.

Verse 35.

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader, and said, you, daughter is dead.

Why bother the teacher anymore?

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, don't be afraid.

Just believe this is a situation for Jairus.

That went from Worse to the worst.

You know how we said it can go from bad to worse?

We were talking about that.

Well, it can go from bad to worse to the worst.

And this is the worst.

The guy's daughter died.

Oh.

She wasn't just really saying she died dead.

And they even said to her, what?

There's no point in talking to this guy anymore.

This is over.

Situation done.

And that's how a lot of us process situation done.

But then Jesus does what Jesus does because he's so amazing.

He overheard what they said to him.

They didn't say it to Jesus.

They said it to the guy.

They said it to Jairus.

Right?

And they said to him, why bother the teacher anymore?

Overhearing what they said Jesus said to Jairus.

Don't be afraid.

Just believe there are three things that you can't miss this.

Number one, Jesus is telling the guy whose daughter just died, ignore them.

It's like, can you imagine?

Okay, the doctor just pronounced her dead.

Yep.

Ignore that guy.

What?

He's the doctor.

Ignore that guy.

That's just like the blind man who are like.

People are telling him, be quiet, stop, and stop, and he shouts out all the more.

It's.

At some point, you just got to ignore any external noise that hasn't been sanctioned by God and just go.

The last four weeks have been the worst four weeks of giving we have ever had.

That is because of Christmas and New Year's.

We kind of expected that.

Then we had the snow, so we weren't here live.

And we had this other thing where Noel was sick.

So then we missed three days that week, two days the Christmas week, a week before, and then later this week, I gotta miss a day.

So I'm just telling you right now, we need money.

Don't give because you're being manipulated if it's on your heart.

In fact, when Noel and I give, we talk about where we're giving.

And then the first thing I say to her, is there somewhere on your heart.

We have like 20 plus churches that we give to, plus about 10 ministries and about five people.

So my point in saying all that is we try to really follow it.

And I want you to do the exact same thing.

If the Lord puts it on your heart, do it.

If not, don't worry.

But you gotta pray for us.

There's no excuse not to pray.

Okay?

Second Corinthians 9, 6, 7.

The point is this.

Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly.

Whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully.

Each one must give as he's decided in his heart, not reluctantly nor under compulsion.

Never be manipulated to give.

For God loves a cheerful giver.

And one day there will be a tree of life moment in this process.

But right now, Lord, let the healing balm of Gilead cover his heart.

Cordelia has a cold, so I'm gonna do all the talking now.

All right.

I'm older by one day, so I'm her big sister.

But I'm proud of Cordelia.

She's been such a help.

Hey, Dr.

Dave.

Yep.

A few quick things.

First of all, thank you for all the prayers for everybody.

And you know when you talked about Julianne and Jared needing a stay angel, we were gonna.

We really do need to pray for them on that and your ministry here, you and your beautiful birthday girl, Noel, whose birthday was Friday, by the way.

Yes.

Was Friday, too.

And it was so cool that Gary called in.

We couldn't call in on Friday to wish them a happy birthday because it was a snow day.

And I say, but first, a beautiful verse in regard to generosity and the Lord's heart toward people who are compassionate toward the disabled and the poor.

And Starting at verse 1, Psalm 41, 1, Blessed is He who considers the poor The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth.

You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness.

You will sustain him on his sick bed.

And so that's the first three verses.

But, Dr.

David, you're that kind of person where you have compassion to compassion for the poor.

Not just the financially poor or physically disabled, but spiritually poor and those who are hurting.

So we're just going to pray a big breakthrough through you for you financially and just don't lose heart.

You know, there are a lot of us out there who are listening and we want to give.

We just love your ministry dearly.

So thank you so, so much.

And last week, early last week, you prayed for my dear friends, the Fars, and they had such an incredible breakthrough.

I mean, it was a miracle.

And I emailed you and I texted you and some others in our prayer group.

It was an astounding miracle.

It regards a court situation.

I won't go into the details, but the Lord worked on the judge's heart in such a perfect and beautiful way.

So this is just to say to people, don't lose heart, you know, if you've been fighting a battle over and over again.

And now here I am in my Jesus house.

I'm just so happy here.

I love it.

Now, I did have a cold week last week, and my central unit in the attic wasn't very efficient.

So I took some advice from a class I took at church.

My first Baptist church has discipleship university classes.

And I once took a course called a handyman course, and it told how to work on H vac units, like a little bit.

I went upstairs, I saw that the door of my unit was ajar and hot air was coming into the attic.

It was hotter upstairs than on the main floor.

And I got a whole bunch of silver tape and I just sealed that thing so tight and now it's warm downstairs.

So the Lord helped me to avoid a maintenance, you know.

Yeah, that's a testimony, too.

But thank you so much for your ministry.

We love you dearly.

Well, that's super, super sweet.

I mean, it is so, so sweet of you to say.

And we love you guys, too.

And you guys are just a great, a great comfort in the ministry and a great help.

And so we do want to pray.

I want to pray for Cordelia because she's still got a little bit of a cold.

Yes, we want to pray for you and Then one other quick prayer.

We're trying to decide what to do for our younger disabled sister, Yelena.

Big decisions ahead about her care.

Just like with Julianne and Jared, they need a stay angel.

Well, we may be the stay angels for Yelena, but we do need definite wisdom on how to navigate that.

And we don't want to jump into something too quickly if we're really not able.

So thank you for that.

Yeah, I'll shut up.

Let's pray both of those things.

Let's pray for Cordelia's health and then.

And then let's pray for wisdom, because that's what you really need, is the Lord to give you his wisdom on how to handle that.

So let's do it.

Let's do it.

Father, we come before you right now and I thank you for Cordelia and Joanne, for both of them.

They've been a part of this show from almost the very beginning.

And they're a blessing.

They're a blessing for other people to hear the things that they've shared, the honesty, the truthfulness, the forthrightness.

Lord, you have given them that spirit of graciousness that has touched other people, and we thank you for that because we get to be the beneficiaries of that.

So, number one, and right off the bat, Cordelia, not feeling good, not having a cold.

Nobody's running around, Lord, going, ah, Lord, just bring your healing power into her body.

Give her a resuscitation of strength, a resuscitation of energy, of power, of the very anointing that comes from you so that the cold will become less and less and less and be gone.

We ask in the name of Jesus that you would heal Cordelia.

It's not by our power, Lord, it's by your spirit.

And we are asking not by might, not by power, but by my spirit.

That's what your word says in Zechariah 4.

So we ask you to pour that into Cordelia and bring that healing power.

And, Lord, for the situation that involves the younger sister, much more complex, much more deeper scenario, because these decisions affect multiple lives.

And so they just, obviously they want to do the right thing.

They don't want to step in the wrong direction.

Walk ye in it.

And we ask you that that would be the voice that would guide and direct them and that you would give them affirmation or confirmation to that decision making process that it wouldn't just be the decision they make.

But you would give them the secondary that says that is correct.

Please give them that confidence.

Let them be assured and give them a wisdom that is past them, that is in the palm of your hand that you may grant them the right direction to step.

And let them just have confidence that in all of it you are with them.

And Lord, if you're with us, that's all that matters.

So we ask you to pour that upon them and bless their house.

They call it a Jesus house.

Bless their house with your presence, with your praise, with your grace and mercy.

We pray for both of them in Jesus name.

All right, so this is kind of how our show goes.

Most people are like going, don't you do anything normal?

No.

Here's my answer.

No.

All right.

I don't know.

I really can't.

I don't think I can pull off the joke one.

But I do want to do the teaching.

So let me finish this off on a teaching, okay.

And I think it's a really important point.

And I didn't get to.

It was not last week, but it was.

Was it the week before?

Yeah.

I wasn't here on Monday because I knew all.

So the week before I taught on this and I taught on this portion of Genesis, but I didn't get to this one part.

And to me it's kind of critical.

So I want to go back to it.

And then we'll just pick up what we're going to do this week for next week.

It's not that big a deal.

But here in verse 10.

So I'm going to read kind of a ramp up so you can follow the story.

Okay.

That's kind of a big deal.

So you can follow the story itself.

So Abraham talked.

This is verse 8 in chapter 13 of Genesis.

Abraham talked it over with lots.

This arguing between our herdsmen has got to stop.

He said, after all, we're close relatives.

I'll tell you what we'll do.

Take your choice of any section of the land you want and we will separate.

If you want that area over there, then I'll stay here.

If you want to stay in this area, then I'll move to another place.

So what we talked about when we were teaching this has to do with the understanding Just straightforward.

The understanding that Abraham was being very, very accommodating.

Now, Abraham didn't have to be accommodating, and I'd just like to point that out.

He wasn't required to be accommodating.

The promise of God was for him.

But he, in the interest of keeping a sense of unity, he recognized prior.

In that verse, it says that the Perizzites and the Canaanites were also in the land.

So Abraham and his herdsmen and Lot and his herdsmen, they kind of need to stay together just for safety's sake.

But I want to show you this one thing in verse 10, and I think we could probably get to that call, but I can't get to it for about two or three minutes.

Listen to this.

In verse 10, Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar.

The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord or the beautiful land of Egypt.

This was before the Lord had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

So why I want to bring this up, and this is kind of critical for us to maybe get a Grasp on verse 11, Lot chose the land for himself, the Jordan Valley to the east of them.

He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram.

Okay, so it's Abram, not Abraham.

Forgive me for that.

But in verse 10 and 11, something absolutely phenomenal takes place.

And I want you to listen to me, I really do, because I do think this will be an issue for some people.

In verse 10, it teaches that Lot takes a long look at the fertile area of the Jordan Valley.

It was well watered even, similar to the beautiful garden of the Lord or the rich lands of Egypt.

I mean, it's very, very appealing.

And this is before God is going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

We have that information ahead of time.

So we know.

But the verse 11 is the key to the verse.

And I want you to hear this.

Oh, if there is a good lesson out of today's show, this is a big part of it.

Lot chose the land for himself.

He chose what was best for himself.

Instead of considering his uncle or considering others.

He thought that taking care of number one was the wise decision.

Now, you know the story, because he makes the decision.

He makes the pick, right?

And he chooses what's best for himself.

Taking care of number one, that's the best decision.

You could not pick any worse than Lot did.

In fact, these people are exceedingly sinful.

Next week, I'M going to talk about getting too close to exceedingly sinful people.

But what I want you to pick up on is it doesn't appear as though Lot said, you know what, let's ask God, let's find out.

Let's make the best decision we can before the Lord.

Let's honor one another, let's do it right.

Let's approach this right.

He was just like looking out for number one.

And because it looked so appealing, he went for it.

He picked it because it was best for him.

He didn't take into consideration other people in the decision making.

He didn't take into consideration the impact it would have.

He didn't even think past that because all he could see was the outward beauty.

He could not see the darkness that he was choosing towards.

And if you think about the wisdom that it takes.

So here's Joanne and Corday asking for wisdom.

Sometimes you need that wisdom before you make those choices.

Because choosing just based on how it looks and choosing because you're looking out for number one and choosing not thinking about other people can lead to this.

And this was dark.

And I want you to understand how dark it was.

These people were so perverse that not even ten righteous people could be found.

Not even ten in a city.

But what was Lot looking at?

Well, it looked pretty appealing, looked pretty nice to me.

Got good watering, got everything.

Not getting direction from God, not doing this.

I'm not saying that this could have gone different because I don't know that what I am saying is that he looked at the well watered land and that's what the scripture says, and he chose the land for himself.

And sometimes when we choose things for our benefit alone or just our blessing alone, or for our best advantage alone, it doesn't turn out to be the blessed land that we think.

That's why our decisions should be connected to our relationship with the Lord, our directions, our guidance, all of that.

And not always choosing the best for you is what the Lord wants.

Sometimes choosing not the best for you is what the Lord wants.

Because Jesus gave himself up for us.

That was the love and the level of commitment he had.

That's a very powerful lesson.

It's not one lesson that I think you can just go, oh, I get it, I'll just always do that.

I think this is one that takes a lot of time in the Lord making the wisest decision you can.

Recognizing that it's not just about choosing what's best for me.

You understand that sometimes it's just choosing what the Lord would want you to do.

And oftentimes God doesn't tell people to choose what's best for them and not consider others.

If that happened, we would not have a messiah who became one of us.

If you think it through, it's like, yeah, gotta watch that.

That's dangerous.

You got it?

It is.
