The David Spoon Experience dives into the crucial lesson of making decisions that not only benefit ourselves but also consider the impact on others. Highlighting the story of Lot from Genesis, Dr. David Spoon emphasizes how Lot's choice, driven by self-interest and the alluring appearance of the land, ultimately led him toward a dark and sinful environment. Throughout the episode, listeners are encouraged to seek wisdom from the Lord when faced with choices, rather than relying solely on outward appearances. The discussion includes heartfelt calls from listeners like Gary and Joyanne, who share personal stories and seek prayer for their loved ones. This engaging conversation mixes scriptural insights with relatable experiences, reminding us that our decisions should reflect not just personal gain but a broader sense of community and divine guidance.
A key theme of this episode is the contrast between worldly appearances and spiritual discernment. David Spoon reflects on how Lot's choice of the well-watered plains of Jordan seemed logical and advantageous, yet it brought him into the midst of a morally corrupt society. This narrative serves as a stark reminder for listeners to look beyond surface-level opportunities and to seek a deeper understanding of God's will in their lives. Spoon's engaging storytelling is complemented by listener interactions, including reflections from Gary and Cordelia, who share their experiences of seeking divine clarity in their own difficult circumstances. The discussions unfold with humor and warmth, making the episode not only insightful but also relatable, as Spoon connects biblical teachings to modern-day dilemmas and encourages a proactive approach to faith and decision-making.
Takeaways:
And now for something completely different.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.
David Spoon:It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind bending Monday as we join our hearts and minds as one, drawing closer to the King of Kings and glorifying his name.
David Spoon:First, we're going to resume our teaching in Genesis.
David Spoon:Getting close to closing out chapter 13.
David Spoon:We're going to start with verse 12, but actually I'm going to back it up to verse 10.
David Spoon:But basically, Abraham stayed where he was while lot moved towards Sodom.
David Spoon:This is clearly a lesson for us to be cautious about what and who and where we draw close to.
David Spoon:Even though something may appear to be appealing, we need wisdom and guidance from the Lord.
David Spoon:There is great danger in drawing close to evil.
David Spoon:Next, it turns out that the people of Sodom, according to verse 13, were unusually wicked and deeply sinful against the Lord.
David Spoon:There are few cities that have ever received sin such a description.
David Spoon:But the people in this area were overindulging in sin.
David Spoon:Sexual immorality, homosexuality were pervasive in this city.
David Spoon:And it was so severe that as you recall, God couldn't even find 10 righteous people in that place.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Finally, the Lord then makes a promise to Abram Abraham.
David Spoon:He says, look in every direction you can.
David Spoon:North, south, east and west.
David Spoon:I'm going to give you this land.
David Spoon:There was no direction in which Abraham could look where blessings did not await him.
David Spoon:Can I just say that again?
David Spoon:I want you to hear what I just said.
David Spoon:There was no direction in which Abraham could look where the blessings did not await him.
David Spoon:Didn't matter if we went north, south, east or west.
David Spoon:Get that?
David Spoon:In fact, God instructed him to walk in every direction so he could see what he was being given.
David Spoon:Abraham was so blessed and had such a deep connection with God, he built an altar to the Lord that my brothers and sisters is a powerful example for us.

Narrator or Announcer:You're about to hear the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
David Spoon:Lessons for surviving, living and prevailing politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations, spiritual observations, my life's insanities and oy Vey so much more.
David Spoon:Now, remember, it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:I've proved that since the beginning of the show.
David Spoon:But to get that verified, we want to talk to the Lone Ranger of professional radio.
David Spoon:The Lone Ranger.
David Spoon:Hello, Silver Away.
David Spoon:The Lone Ranger, our very own Jam.
David Spoon:And Jacob.
David Spoon:Jammin Jacob is the David Spoon Experience professional radio?
David Spoon:No, it is not.
David Spoon:David, you like that title, Lone Ranger.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:I do like that.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:Lone Ranger, he's in charge.
David Spoon:Okay, so here's the bottom line.
David Spoon:It's not professional.
David Spoon:It's just random radio.
David Spoon:That's all it is.
David Spoon:And so we're just curious how you doing, Want to know what you think, how are things going?
David Spoon:And so what we try to do is create that atmosphere where you can email us during the show, davidemusincrease.org davidemusincrease.org, you can text during the show.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:And when you call that number.
David Spoon:Oh, when you call that number.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Well, by golly, you'll end up talking to Jim.
David Spoon:Talking to Jammin Jacob is like knowing that your spiritual radio family has your back.
David Spoon:Thank you, David.
David Spoon:Happy Monday.
David Spoon:Happy Monday to you.
David Spoon:You know, I like that Billy Joel clip, though.
David Spoon:I do gotta say thank you.
David Spoon:That's one of my favorites.
David Spoon:All right, so anyway, here's the bottom line.
David Spoon:The bottom line is why would you text?
David Spoon:Why would you send an email?
David Spoon:Why would you call us?
David Spoon:Because maybe you've got a praise report.
David Spoon:Has God done any?
David Spoon:Now, listen, you don't have to tell me he didn't.
David Spoon:I already know he has.
David Spoon:This is not me trying to guilt you.
David Spoon:I know the Lord does many marvelous things for everybody all the time.
David Spoon:If you believe that's something you would like to share, we want to give you that opportunity.
David Spoon:That's how we'd say it.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Don't want to manipulate anybody to do it.
David Spoon:If it's on your heart, great.
David Spoon:If you have something you want to share that the Lord has done, that really either got you through it, answered a prayer, deliverance from this, freedom from this.
David Spoon:Got out of this, this changed this, this multiplied whatever it is, praise the Lord that he did it and share it.
David Spoon:Let the redeemed of the Lord say so if you've got a prayer request, let's bring it.
David Spoon:Because prayer changes the universe.
David Spoon:I know there's politicians and people in the media and academia and Hollywood that don't understand that.
David Spoon:But that's their loss.
David Spoon:Why should it be ours?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:Not going to happen.
David Spoon:So if you've got something to pray about, let's pray about it.
David Spoon:Let's see the universes and people's lives change as well as the overall universe.
David Spoon:Maybe you got something you just want to share, something on your heart and mind.
David Spoon:Dave I read this scripture.
David Spoon:Didn't really catch it before.
David Spoon:I read it after.
David Spoon:I've read it 30 times and I just got it all completely different.
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:Share that.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got an answer to Bible trivia, right?
David Spoon:Maybe you have some kind of response.
David Spoon:Maybe you're the Kimasabe to our very own Lone Ranger and you've got a response.
David Spoon:Which apostle?
David Spoon:You only got 12 of them.
David Spoon:Which apostle acted?
David Spoon:The original 12.
David Spoon:Which apostle acted as treasurer for the group?
David Spoon:Which apostle acted as treasurer for the group?
David Spoon:Was it Thomas, Judas, Andrew, John?
David Spoon:Which one?
David Spoon: Your answer is in John: David Spoon:Which apostle acted as treasurer for the group?
David Spoon:Thomas, Judas, Andrew or John?
David Spoon: The answer is in John: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:I don't think any of the shows replayed didn't have DNA, but that's not the point.
David Spoon:The point is this.
David Spoon:We're doing it live right now.
David Spoon:D stands for Draw Closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:I just.
David Spoon:I don't believe it's not in my heart to be able to say this any better than it says it already.
David Spoon:Every time you and I spend time with God, in prayer, in the Word, in some form of communion with the Lord, where His presence is evident whether you feel it or not, whether it's declared his presence, where it's declared.
David Spoon:Anytime you do that, your life is better.
David Spoon:Now, if you don't want your life to be better, don't spend time with God there.
David Spoon:That'll solve it for everybody.
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:Daily.
David Spoon:Give us this day our daily bread and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:So I don't know if I'm going to do it today.
David Spoon:I'm definitely going to do it between now and Monday of next week.
David Spoon:I promise you it doesn't matter what you think is going on in the political realm.
David Spoon:The truth of the matter is that the media is going to be much more ferocious than they have ever been before.
David Spoon:Everybody's thinking, oh, it's going to go lighter now.
David Spoon:No, it's not.
David Spoon:That's absurdity.
David Spoon:The media, they function as propagandists who try to declare the narrative.
David Spoon:A journalist journals, makes notes of all the things that are happening.
David Spoon:A propagandist tries to create a narrative.
David Spoon:You understand that difference?
David Spoon:We hardly have any media in this country.
David Spoon:We do have a lot of propagandists on all sides.
David Spoon:They're going to try and shame people who stand by the Bible.
David Spoon:But to be ashamed of Jesus or his words will make him ashamed of us.
David Spoon:That's a no go, not happening.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:Read Luke 9:26.
David Spoon:So D draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:Be ready, be ready.
David Spoon:We prayed about that in the very beginning of the show.
David Spoon:Joanne and Corday wanted to be more ready, more willing to share.
David Spoon:We all need that.
David Spoon:We need to present ourselves before the Lord every day.
David Spoon:I'm your kid, you're my dad.
David Spoon:Dad, is there anything you want me to do today?
David Spoon:I'd certainly like to do it to just express just a little bit how much I appreciate you.
David Spoon:That is what we're talking about.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:We do have somebody ready to answer a trivia question.
David Spoon:So let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Cousin J:Hey, David, this is your cousin.
David Spoon:Is this my cousin J?
Cousin J:It is.
David Spoon:How did you know?
David Spoon:How are you, brother?
Cousin J:You know, Dave, the backs getting worse every day, but it is drawing me closer to the Lord daily.
Cousin J:So maybe that's why I have become freer with my ability to disciple, to speak about Christ, the love I have for him, his salvation.
Cousin J:So, you know, older I get.
Cousin J:I'm your older.
Cousin J:I'm your older cousin.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's a great way to put it.
David Spoon:You know, it's funny, I heard a song the other day and I've heard it before, but I never kind of.
David Spoon:I never processed it the right way.
David Spoon:But the gist of the song is, I thank you for your scars because it teaches me your heart.
David Spoon:And it's like, what a great line.
David Spoon:That is not just the Scars.
David Spoon:Not just the scars that he has as an individual, but the scars that Jesus took upon himself.
David Spoon:And it gives us the opportunity to know him there better.
Cousin J:That's.
Cousin J:That's.
Cousin J:That's beautiful.
David Spoon:Isn't that cool?
David Spoon:I love stuff like that.
David Spoon:I love it.
David Spoon:All right, my brother.
David Spoon:Let me.
Cousin J:I'll tell you.
Cousin J:I'll tell you how I remember this, okay?
Cousin J:Because of the other scripture that states that money, it can be the root of all evil, right?
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:The love of money can be the root of all evil.
David Spoon:Correct.
Cousin J:The love of money can be the root of all evil.
Cousin J:So that throws me right into the guy that griped when the lady broke the alabaster jar to prepare Jesus for his crucifixion.
David Spoon:Exactly.
Cousin J:And he grind.
Cousin J:Because they could have sold that for a year's wages or whatever.
David Spoon:Yep.
Cousin J:And it's our same guy.
Cousin J:That people are people.
Cousin J:When I tell them I'm a Christian, they start asking me questions.
Cousin J:Well, did he hang himself or did his bowels all burst out?
Cousin J:I say, well, after a while, hanging there, yeah, his bowels.
Cousin J:I mean, it all happened.
Cousin J:People try to throw you up on that.
Cousin J:It was our guy, Judas.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amanda.
David Spoon:Sir, you are right.
David Spoon:You are also correct in your explanation.
David Spoon:It's really funny because people go, well, did he hang himself or did his bowels fall out?
David Spoon:See, what they want to do is they want to go, is it A or B?
David Spoon:It's both A and B.
David Spoon:See, anytime there's a question.
David Spoon:I actually had a college professor teach me this.
David Spoon:He goes, it's a B or B.
David Spoon:Or it's A and B.
David Spoon:Or it's neither A and B.
David Spoon:And it's like, no matter what, he goes, there's more than two.
David Spoon:And so it's like, wow, that's really good.
David Spoon:A great way to think of things right there.
David Spoon:And this is both.
David Spoon:I mean, they purchased that last time.
Cousin J:I had a test.
Cousin J:It's a B.
Cousin J:Is it a B or both?
Cousin J:Man, you're always going the right way to check both.
David Spoon:Yeah, exactly.
David Spoon:What's so amazing, and you have to love this is how compassionate, though, and graceful that Jesus was.
David Spoon:And I think people will miss this.
David Spoon:Jesus knew he was not, you know, he was not the upper level, and he still let him cover the money.
Cousin J:It's interesting that Jesus put him at that point.
Cousin J:Yeah, there's a lesson there, too.
David Spoon:Yeah, there's just so much there.
David Spoon:So much there.
David Spoon:My brother, can I pray over you?
Cousin J:Couple of months I've been talking in this group defending the gospel, and one guy Asked me that very question.
Cousin J:I said, well, if he hung himself and nobody cut him down, can you imagine.
Cousin J:And I hate to do this to your listeners, but can you imagine just how bloated he got before?
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:That's exactly right.
David Spoon:That's.
David Spoon:No, that's exactly right.
David Spoon:And it's just really.
David Spoon:It's just a whole.
David Spoon:I mean, it's a horrible, horrible death.
David Spoon:Oh, my God.
Cousin J:Well, you can tell me, with your Jewish background, nobody would have wanted to take him down after he hung himself, right?
David Spoon:Yeah, they wouldn't have touched him.
David Spoon:So then the theory is, did the body.
David Spoon:Did it decay out and fall, or did the branch break?
David Spoon:Or.
David Spoon:It's like, that's the stuff you don't know.
David Spoon:And it's like that stuff that doesn't matter.
David Spoon:Here's the key.
David Spoon:He hung himself.
David Spoon:He eventually spilled all his blood into that.
David Spoon:Spilled it into that valley.
David Spoon:And that was the call for the Son of perdition.
David Spoon:And some people said, well, you never know.
David Spoon:Judas might have made it.
David Spoon:And it's like they call him the Son of Perdition.
David Spoon:Don't count on it.
David Spoon:I mean, that's really.
David Spoon:That's kind of how I would say it.
David Spoon:You know, I wouldn't miss that title that he was given.
David Spoon:But we'll just move on from there.
David Spoon:It's like, wow.
Cousin J:So bless you and keep it up.
Cousin J:And as always, I love you and I love your listeners.
Cousin J:I pray just a.
Cousin J:A big prayer over all your listeners, usually daily.
Cousin J:But when I remember, I gotcha.
David Spoon:I got.
David Spoon:Well, let me pray over you with all the listeners joining their faith with mine.
David Spoon:Let me pray a blessing over you.
Cousin J:Oh, that's wonderful.
Cousin J:Thank you.
David Spoon:Let's do it.
David Spoon:Let's do it.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:I thank you for j.
David Spoon:Lord, you know, I pray for him.
David Spoon:That's why it's so funny.
David Spoon:It's so great when people call.
David Spoon:I love it.
David Spoon:I love what you're doing because it's you, you, you.
David Spoon:And we are asking you, Lord, he's going through a lot.
David Spoon:He's going very challenged.
David Spoon:A couple moments where you just look up and go, hello.
David Spoon:But you know what?
David Spoon:Lord?
David Spoon:Let this year open up for him more blessings than he expected.
David Spoon:Not because he doesn't have faith, but because you're generous.
David Spoon:That's why.
David Spoon:Let it be based on your generosity, your graciousness to him, and bless him in ways he did not encounter in his mind.
David Spoon:And then give him that affirmation that you love him and that he's your kid.
David Spoon:We ask you to bless him and those around him in Jesus name, Amen and Amen.
Cousin J:All I need to know, Dave, is four words in the beginning.
Cousin J:God.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:You got it.
Cousin J:Love you.
David Spoon:All right, God bless.
David Spoon:Love you too, bro.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, Excellent call.
David Spoon:You know, see, Mondays can be cool too.
David Spoon:You know.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:I'm just saying, not every Monday's.
David Spoon:You know, it's Monday, right?
David Spoon:Especially when they're on a three day weekend.
David Spoon:I'm just saying it's been a great Monday so far.
David Spoon:So far it's been a blast.
David Spoon:All right, let's break here.
David Spoon:This teaching I got, I'm just.
David Spoon:Oh, I hope I don't mess it up.
David Spoon:All right, let's break here and then we'll come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break, be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
or voice) or a guest speaker:The Christian faith is being attacked.
or voice) or a guest speaker:Fifty years ago, people would disagree with Christianity.
or voice) or a guest speaker:But with a sense of respect, those days are over.
or voice) or a guest speaker:The rage, the flesh the enemy.
or voice) or a guest speaker:And the atmosphere of sin is growing and growing.
or voice) or a guest speaker:Jesus said in Matthew 24, the love of many will grow cold.
or voice) or a guest speaker:And if it's not the end now, it's certainly a lot closer than it was yesterday.
or voice) or a guest speaker:You may be from a Baptist background.
or voice) or a guest speaker:David Spoon has that.
or voice) or a guest speaker:You may have a Pentecostal background.
or voice) or a guest speaker:He has that too.
or voice) or a guest speaker:You may have a non denominational background.
or voice) or a guest speaker:Yep, he's got that as well.
or voice) or a guest speaker:You may be from the Church of Christ, Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination.
or voice) or a guest speaker:But if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, give David a listen for a while.
or voice) or a guest speaker:If you like it, great.
or voice) or a guest speaker:If not, no worries.
or voice) or a guest speaker:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:What is the David Spoon Experience?
David Spoon:Hey, Jingity jing.
David Spoon:It's Dominic the Donkey.
David Spoon:Jingity Jing, the Italian Christmas donkey.
David Spoon:Oh, that is.
David Spoon:You asked for zany, my friend.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Simone Experience.
David Spoon:So we being not completely unlike, you know, Christmas Vacation in Chevy Chase and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:We got a really big tree, slapped it up on the car.
David Spoon:Of course it scratched the car to no end.
David Spoon:Remember, I'm Jewish and I'm trying to follow the Christmas holiday.
David Spoon:It's got nothing to do with my Christianity.
David Spoon:I like Christmas, I like the season, and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:I have no problem selling celebrating any specific time, picking a time.
David Spoon:And we're as close as we can be.
David Spoon:Celebrating the birth of Christ.
David Spoon:It's awesome.
David Spoon:It's a great time of year.
David Spoon:But you're talking about me fighting a tree and I'm fighting the tree and I'm fighting the tree and I hack off a few branches and unfortunately what I hacked off with the, with the ax wasn't enough because I was right there again holding the Christmas tree with my feet on the door, trying to pull it in.
David Spoon:Hey, you know what?
David Spoon:The Christmas tree was not coming in.
David Spoon:So you know what I did?
David Spoon:I hacked off a few more pieces, but then instead of just trying to pull the tree in, I hacked off a few more pieces.
David Spoon:By this point, I have decided that Christmas is a pagan holiday that only people who are supporting Christmas presents have created.
David Spoon:And Jewish people who believe in Jesus should not be celebrating Christmas.
David Spoon:And I'm crashing and I've got the act up and I'm crushing and I'm gonna get this tree in.
David Spoon:And you would not believe it, but after doing that for 15 minutes, I still could not get the tree in the house.
David Spoon:Amazing grace, how sweet.
David Spoon:Oh.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:This Ka Men 770, the Truce Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:I am going to ask people to be praying for Julianne and Jared.
David Spoon:They're trying to get a stay angel, somebody that can help them out and they're having a little bit of a hard time.
David Spoon:And so just in your prayer time, please lift them up and actually I'm going to pray for them so just join with me as well.
David Spoon:But I'd like you guys, it's, you know, it's my daughter and it's my grandchildren and they could use the help.
David Spoon:After spending nine days with them, I know they could use the help.
David Spoon:So let's just pray for them and ask the Lord to help their situation.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and I thank you for my daughter and for my son in law.
David Spoon:I could not have asked for a better son in law.
David Spoon:Great, great guy.
David Spoon:Thank you for that gift.
David Spoon:And Lord, we just lift up their situation for the kids sake that they could get a stay angel, somebody that can help them.
David Spoon:That is who they are connecting to, who they think would be just best.
David Spoon:As you lead and guide and direct them.
David Spoon:They're both willing to say the same thing.
David Spoon:You've heard them tell me, Lord, not their will, but your will be done.
David Spoon:But Lord, give them that graciousness, please and give them that little bit of a break so that they can breathe a little.
David Spoon:I just ask for your blessing upon them, your encouragement in their hearts and minds.
David Spoon:Those are mine, but they're yours first.
David Spoon:So watch over yours first and help them.
David Spoon:And the only name I would ever know to pray in, in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
David Spoon:Amen and Amen.
David Spoon:Okay, so be in prayer for them.
David Spoon:I would greatly appreciate that.
David Spoon:That would be awesome.
David Spoon:Here's your next trivia question.
David Spoon:You guys should be able to get this.
David Spoon:It's coming out of Numbers.
David Spoon:Numbers, what's that?
David Spoon:That's the fourth book in from the beginning, right?
David Spoon:So you got Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and then Deuteronomy.
David Spoon:So Numbers is book number four.
David Spoon:Numbers 22, numbers 22, 23, 20, 26, numbers 22, 23, 26.
David Spoon:Who was trapped against a wall by an angel with a drawn sword in the path of the vineyards?
David Spoon:Was it BAAL Bana, Balaam or Bezer one of the bees?
David Spoon:BAAL Bana Balaam or Bezer, who was trapped against a wall by an angel with a drawn sword in the path of the vineyards?
David Spoon:To refresh your memory, this is where God made it clear that a donkey can do a lot more sometimes than even a prophet of God.
David Spoon:Numbers 22, 23, 26.
David Spoon:Was it Baal Bena, Balaam or Bezer who was trapped against the wall by an angel with a drawn sword in the path of the vineyard?
David Spoon:If you think you know who that was right when he was riding a donkey.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or send an email David that he must increase.
David Spoon:Okay, so I have a couple of different things in my repertoire here.
David Spoon:I've got a couple of jokes and we'll probably get to those in maybe.
David Spoon:I've got history.
David Spoon:We definitely are going to get to that.
David Spoon:I still have not decided yet whether I want to talk to you in depth about this, but I do want to say something.
David Spoon: e world is going to change in: David Spoon:I'm going to say this to every one of you and you know exactly what I'm talking about.
David Spoon:But it is not healthy for Bible believing, born again Christians to put their confidence in mankind.
David Spoon:The Scriptures are very clear and I'm only going to just quote this one, then I'll get into the teaching later.
David Spoon:It's better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
David Spoon:It's Better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in leaders.
David Spoon:Psalm 118, verse 8 through 9.
David Spoon:Consider that a specific word from the Lord.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:In the meantime, we do have somebody who's ready to answer a trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Cousin J:This is Gary.
David Spoon:How are you today?
David Spoon:I'm doing pretty good, Gary.
David Spoon:It's not too bad.
David Spoon:Family was.
David Spoon:Noel was sick for a while, and then she got better, and then the weather was a little unique.
David Spoon:It was kind of like, okay.
David Spoon:But I'm glad to be back in the studio because it's just kind of more of a home.
David Spoon:It's a home for me and my spirit.
David Spoon:You know what I mean?
David Spoon:It's like I feel comfortable here, but I've not forgotten about any of us, including you.
David Spoon:So I want to make sure that we get the trivia question, then get to praying for you.
David Spoon:So before we get there, let's do the triv question, which I know you know this.
David Spoon:Who was trapped against a wall by an angel with a drawn sword in the path of the vineyards?
Cousin J:It was Balaam.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amandosa.
David Spoon:And I know I say it a lot, but I just.
David Spoon:I think it's funnier than people.
David Spoon:So it's just like, you know, the donkey is talking to him.
David Spoon:The guy's getting mad at the donkey.
David Spoon:I mean, if you're there and you're like, you know you're talking to a donkey, right?
David Spoon:I mean, you just want to say.
David Spoon:You just want to say it to him like you're talking to a donkey.
David Spoon:He's talking back to you.
David Spoon:You're not catching that.
David Spoon:I find that amazing.
David Spoon:Sorry.
David Spoon:All right, my brother, let me pray over you for your health.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Anything else?
Cousin J:We can pray for you just about things in general.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:You got it.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:We lift up our precious brother Gary.
David Spoon:And I'm asking you, Lord, it's his health, and it's some of the things that are going all around.
David Spoon:It's the inconveniences, the difficulties he has in accomplishing certain things he wants to get done or his abilities.
David Spoon:Lord, we are asking for favor.
David Spoon:I don't know how to ask you any differently.
David Spoon:You love to give to your kids.
David Spoon:I'm asking you to give your kid favor.
David Spoon:He's your child.
David Spoon:He's yours.
David Spoon:He's your offspring.
David Spoon:And we are asking you to bring that favor in his life.
David Spoon:He needs it physically.
David Spoon:He needs it financially.
David Spoon:He needs it connection wise.
David Spoon:Getting around wise.
David Spoon:He needs it for supplies and simplicities.
David Spoon:He needs your help.
David Spoon:And your word is clear.
David Spoon:Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, shall be rescued.
David Spoon:Well, Gary is a whosoever, and he's calling on your name.
David Spoon:And we're doing it with him, alongside of him, joining him in his struggle.
David Spoon:Lord God almighty, king of the universe, grant Gary favor physically, financially and otherwise.
David Spoon:Give him grace upon grace upon grace upon blessing.
David Spoon:We pray that in the name and authority of Jesus Christ, Amen and amen.
Cousin J:Amen.
Cousin J:Thank you very much.
Cousin J:I prayed for all of you yesterday and I'll continue to pray for you.
David Spoon:Thank you, my brother, and God bless you.
Cousin J:God bless you.
Cousin J:God bless you.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, so I do.
David Spoon:I really do.
David Spoon:Like, I know people get upset when I repeat that story, but I don't care.
David Spoon:It's funny.
David Spoon:God uses a donkey to rebuke a prophet.
David Spoon:So therefore, all the pastors should just be quiet.
David Spoon:He's a donkey.
David Spoon:And then he rebukes a prophet.
David Spoon:It's his way of saying, listen, I'm in charge.
David Spoon:It's so funny.
David Spoon:I'm sorry.
David Spoon:All right, so we are gonna get into this Genesis teaching, but I've got all these other things I gotta do, so we are gonna actually take our break and then come back.
David Spoon:And believe me, you will find it worth it.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break, we'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
:What is the David Spoon Experience?
:Imagine yourself on a rocket ship racing at a thousand miles an hour into space.
:Once there, you can sense the power and the presence of the majestic and the divine.
:You forget about your troubles and your fears, and you just float in peace without a worry.
:In the world, there are no struggles, no pain, no discomfort.
:It's soothing, calm, comfortable.
:But then the show starts and you realize that none of that stuff has anything to do with the show.
:What were you thinking?
:The David Spoon Experience.
:Only for the brave of heart and the bored.
David Spoon:What is the David Spoon Experience?
David Spoon:So the situation for the woman turned out to be fine.
David Spoon:But remember, he's there with Jairus.
David Spoon:And Jairus daughter is dying.
David Spoon:Verse 35.
David Spoon:While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader, and said, you, daughter is dead.
David Spoon:Why bother the teacher anymore?
David Spoon:Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, don't be afraid.
David Spoon:Just believe this is a situation for Jairus.
David Spoon:That went from Worse to the worst.
David Spoon:You know how we said it can go from bad to worse?
David Spoon:We were talking about that.
David Spoon:Well, it can go from bad to worse to the worst.
David Spoon:And this is the worst.
David Spoon:The guy's daughter died.
David Spoon:Oh.
David Spoon:She wasn't just really saying she died dead.
David Spoon:And they even said to her, what?
David Spoon:There's no point in talking to this guy anymore.
David Spoon:This is over.
David Spoon:Situation done.
David Spoon:And that's how a lot of us process situation done.
David Spoon:But then Jesus does what Jesus does because he's so amazing.
David Spoon:He overheard what they said to him.
David Spoon:They didn't say it to Jesus.
David Spoon:They said it to the guy.
David Spoon:They said it to Jairus.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:And they said to him, why bother the teacher anymore?
David Spoon:Overhearing what they said Jesus said to Jairus.
David Spoon:Don't be afraid.
David Spoon:Just believe there are three things that you can't miss this.
David Spoon:Number one, Jesus is telling the guy whose daughter just died, ignore them.
David Spoon:It's like, can you imagine?
David Spoon:Okay, the doctor just pronounced her dead.
David Spoon:Yep.
David Spoon:Ignore that guy.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:He's the doctor.
David Spoon:Ignore that guy.
David Spoon:That's just like the blind man who are like.
David Spoon:People are telling him, be quiet, stop, and stop, and he shouts out all the more.
David Spoon:It's.
David Spoon:At some point, you just got to ignore any external noise that hasn't been sanctioned by God and just go.
David Spoon:I'm not paying attention to that.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAMC, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's K double.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Getting ready for our next trivia question.
David Spoon:And then I'm gonna send you up to the website, because I haven't done that yet.
David Spoon:I'm gonna talk to you about that, but first, let me get the trivia question out.
David Spoon:I think that's a pretty good idea to do.
David Spoon:I think it's a good one.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:What tree did Jesus tell.
David Spoon:Let no fruit grow on thee henceforth forever.
David Spoon:What tree did Jesus tell?
David Spoon:Let no fruit grow unto you henceforth forever.
David Spoon: ,: David Spoon:That's your reference point.
David Spoon: ,: David Spoon:That's number one.
David Spoon: ,: David Spoon:What tree did Jesus say?
David Spoon:Let no fruit grow on you henceforth forever?
David Spoon:Bad tree.
David Spoon:Bad tree.
David Spoon:Was it apple tree, fig tree, olive tree, or sycamore tree?
David Spoon:And some of you should stop thinking it's your money tree, because that's not a reality check.
David Spoon:What tree did Jesus tell that no fruit grew unto thee henceforth forever?
David Spoon:Apple, fig, Olive Sycamore.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or send an email davidhemustincrease.org so now I'm gonna send you up to the website and I just wanna make sure you guys fully hear everything I'm going to say.
David Spoon:Are you ready?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:The last four weeks have been the worst four weeks of giving we have ever had.
David Spoon:That is because of Christmas and New Year's.
David Spoon:We kind of expected that.
David Spoon:Then we had the snow, so we weren't here live.
David Spoon:And we had this other thing where Noel was sick.
David Spoon:So then we missed three days that week, two days the Christmas week, a week before, and then later this week, I gotta miss a day.
David Spoon:So I'm just telling you right now, we need money.
David Spoon:Don't give because you're being manipulated if it's on your heart.
David Spoon:In fact, when Noel and I give, we talk about where we're giving.
David Spoon:And then the first thing I say to her, is there somewhere on your heart.
David Spoon:We have like 20 plus churches that we give to, plus about 10 ministries and about five people.
David Spoon:So my point in saying all that is we try to really follow it.
David Spoon:And I want you to do the exact same thing.
David Spoon:If the Lord puts it on your heart, do it.
David Spoon:If not, don't worry.
David Spoon:But you gotta pray for us.
David Spoon:There's no excuse not to pray.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Second Corinthians 9, 6, 7.
David Spoon:The point is this.
David Spoon:Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly.
David Spoon:Whoever sows bountifully will reap bountifully.
David Spoon:Each one must give as he's decided in his heart, not reluctantly nor under compulsion.
David Spoon:Never be manipulated to give.
David Spoon:For God loves a cheerful giver.
David Spoon:If you can give, great.
David Spoon:If you can't, pray for us.
David Spoon:We love it.
David Spoon:Check it all out on hemustincrease.org prayer request.
David Spoon:Hemosincrease.org praise report hemosincrease.org looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:Hemosincrease.org confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:He must increase.org hemustincrease.org they're moving in herds.
David Spoon:They do move in her.
David Spoon:They move in herds.
David Spoon:Okay, but it's funny, if he would have said something like, they move in hertz, you know, and then be like, hurts rental car.
David Spoon:And then something like that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Somebody ready to answer their trivia question?
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Cousin J:Jurassic Park.
David Spoon:Hello, brother.
David Spoon:How are you?
Cousin J:Good.
David Spoon:Ah, good.
David Spoon:I'm glad to hear that, my brother.
David Spoon:Glad to hear that.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Did you get through last week?
David Spoon:I mean, if you didn't get through, you wouldn't be on the phone, that's for sure.
Cousin J:I went to Michigan, so I was.
David Spoon:Okay, you went to Michigan.
David Spoon:You were trying to get away from the snow by going to the snow.
Cousin J:Yeah, that's the way it is.
David Spoon:All right, my brother.
David Spoon:What tree did Jesus tell.
David Spoon:Let no fruit grow on you anymore.
David Spoon:Bad tree.
David Spoon:Was it apple, fig, olive or sycamore?
Cousin J:Dollar tree.
David Spoon:A dollar tree?
Cousin J:No, it's a fig tree.
David Spoon:It is the fig tree.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:If I know that is a right.
David Spoon:Aroni, right?
David Spoon:Aroni.
David Spoon:That's like rice a roni, you know, that's okay.
David Spoon:Anyway, how art thou?
Cousin J:Hey, good.
Cousin J:Hey, pray for me because today is my sister's birthday that passed away in Los Angeles.
David Spoon:Okay, you got that?
David Spoon:That's got to be just.
David Spoon:That's got to be just uncomfortable.
David Spoon:I mean, there's just no question about it.
David Spoon:So kind of like a bluesy kind of thing, so.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:Let me pray for you on that and that the Lord also bless you.
Cousin J:Thank you.
David Spoon:All right, let's do it.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and we lift up our brother to you and we thank you for him, we appreciate him and we love him.
David Spoon:And we ask you, Lord God, to put your arms around him.
David Spoon:Because loss hurts.
David Spoon:And there's a hope that was deferred.
David Spoon:And your word is clear.
David Spoon:Hope deferred makes the heart sick.
David Spoon:But when it does come, it says the tree of Life.
David Spoon:And one day there will be a tree of life moment in this process.
David Spoon:But right now, Lord, let the healing balm of Gilead cover his heart.
David Spoon:Let the God of comfort, which by you identify yourself, bring that oil of comfort into his heart and mind.
David Spoon:And Lord, let him have confidence not to be afraid.
David Spoon:He's not trying to be afraid.
David Spoon:Just have a greater sense of confidence and expectation that you are going to help him prevail.
David Spoon:I can't prevail without you.
David Spoon:But with you he can do anything.
David Spoon:Bless him in that process and encourage him.
David Spoon:And let him then be an encouragement to others.
David Spoon:We pray that in Jesus name, amen and amen.
Cousin J:Amen.
Cousin J:Thank you, brother.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:God bless you, my bro.
Cousin J:God bless you.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Okay, so that is Sam Samson calling in Just.
David Spoon:Just taking care of business.
David Spoon:So we are going to do a little bit of history.
David Spoon:And so if you got the little history thing ready to go, let's do that.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Not a ton of things, but there's some very funny.
David Spoon:Well, I don't want to say funny things.
David Spoon:I think this is fascinating.
David Spoon:Some people will get really upset about it, but you should recognize the great value that I'm going to share with you.
David Spoon: ght to culture on this day in: David Spoon: On this day in: David Spoon:I'm sorry, I just find that there's no polka music without the accordion.
David Spoon:I'm just pointing that out to people.
David Spoon:Do you like that one?
David Spoon:That was pretty good.
David Spoon:The accordion.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:It is also National Sticker Day.
David Spoon:I don't know what that means.
David Spoon:Is that just like a bumper sticker?
David Spoon:Any kind of sticker?
David Spoon:Is that something?
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:That seems weird.
David Spoon:I think you'll appreciate this.
David Spoon:It's not as many food things I can't.
David Spoon:Can't get you there.
David Spoon:But this one, it is National Rubber Ducky Day.
David Spoon:Rubber Ducky Day.
David Spoon:Rubber Ducky.
David Spoon:You're the one.
David Spoon:You make bath time.
David Spoon:Lots of fun.
David Spoon:Rubber ducky.
David Spoon:You're my very favorite friend.
David Spoon:It's true.
David Spoon:I just have one word to respond to that.
David Spoon:Sure.
David Spoon:Sure, Dave.
David Spoon:Sure.
David Spoon:Whatever.
David Spoon:Two words for you, Dave.
David Spoon:Therapy.
David Spoon:All right, we do have somebody on the line.
David Spoon:Let's go ahead and send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Hi, Dr.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:David.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Cordelia and Joy Ann.
David Spoon:Oh, it's stereo.
David Spoon:It's stereo.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:Hello, ladies.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Cordelia has a cold, so I'm gonna do all the talking now.
David Spoon:All right.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:I'm older by one day, so I'm her big sister.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:But I'm proud of Cordelia.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:She's been such a help.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Hey, Dr.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Dave.
David Spoon:Yep.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:A few quick things.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:First of all, thank you for all the prayers for everybody.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And you know when you talked about Julianne and Jared needing a stay angel, we were gonna.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We really do need to pray for them on that and your ministry here, you and your beautiful birthday girl, Noel, whose birthday was Friday, by the way.
David Spoon:Yes.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Was Friday, too.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And it was so cool that Gary called in.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We couldn't call in on Friday to wish them a happy birthday because it was a snow day.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And I say, but first, a beautiful verse in regard to generosity and the Lord's heart toward people who are compassionate toward the disabled and the poor.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And Starting at verse 1, Psalm 41, 1, Blessed is He who considers the poor The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:You will sustain him on his sick bed.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And so that's the first three verses.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:But, Dr.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:David, you're that kind of person where you have compassion to compassion for the poor.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Not just the financially poor or physically disabled, but spiritually poor and those who are hurting.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:So we're just going to pray a big breakthrough through you for you financially and just don't lose heart.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:You know, there are a lot of us out there who are listening and we want to give.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We just love your ministry dearly.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:So thank you so, so much.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And last week, early last week, you prayed for my dear friends, the Fars, and they had such an incredible breakthrough.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:I mean, it was a miracle.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And I emailed you and I texted you and some others in our prayer group.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:It was an astounding miracle.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:It regards a court situation.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:I won't go into the details, but the Lord worked on the judge's heart in such a perfect and beautiful way.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:So this is just to say to people, don't lose heart, you know, if you've been fighting a battle over and over again.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And now here I am in my Jesus house.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:I'm just so happy here.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:I love it.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Now, I did have a cold week last week, and my central unit in the attic wasn't very efficient.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:So I took some advice from a class I took at church.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:My first Baptist church has discipleship university classes.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And I once took a course called a handyman course, and it told how to work on H vac units, like a little bit.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:I went upstairs, I saw that the door of my unit was ajar and hot air was coming into the attic.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:It was hotter upstairs than on the main floor.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And I got a whole bunch of silver tape and I just sealed that thing so tight and now it's warm downstairs.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:So the Lord helped me to avoid a maintenance, you know.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Yeah, that's a testimony, too.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:But thank you so much for your ministry.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We love you dearly.
David Spoon:Well, that's super, super sweet.
David Spoon:I mean, it is so, so sweet of you to say.
David Spoon:And we love you guys, too.
David Spoon:And you guys are just a great, a great comfort in the ministry and a great help.
David Spoon:And so we do want to pray.
David Spoon:I want to pray for Cordelia because she's still got a little bit of a cold.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Yes, we want to pray for you and Then one other quick prayer.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We're trying to decide what to do for our younger disabled sister, Yelena.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Big decisions ahead about her care.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Just like with Julianne and Jared, they need a stay angel.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Well, we may be the stay angels for Yelena, but we do need definite wisdom on how to navigate that.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:And we don't want to jump into something too quickly if we're really not able.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:So thank you for that.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Yeah, I'll shut up.
David Spoon:Let's pray both of those things.
David Spoon:Let's pray for Cordelia's health and then.
David Spoon:And then let's pray for wisdom, because that's what you really need, is the Lord to give you his wisdom on how to handle that.
David Spoon:So let's do it.
David Spoon:Let's do it.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and I thank you for Cordelia and Joanne, for both of them.
David Spoon:They've been a part of this show from almost the very beginning.
David Spoon:And they're a blessing.
David Spoon:They're a blessing for other people to hear the things that they've shared, the honesty, the truthfulness, the forthrightness.
David Spoon:Lord, you have given them that spirit of graciousness that has touched other people, and we thank you for that because we get to be the beneficiaries of that.
David Spoon:So, number one, and right off the bat, Cordelia, not feeling good, not having a cold.
David Spoon:Nobody's running around, Lord, going, ah, Lord, just bring your healing power into her body.
David Spoon:Give her a resuscitation of strength, a resuscitation of energy, of power, of the very anointing that comes from you so that the cold will become less and less and less and be gone.
David Spoon:We ask in the name of Jesus that you would heal Cordelia.
David Spoon:It's not by our power, Lord, it's by your spirit.
David Spoon:And we are asking not by might, not by power, but by my spirit.
David Spoon:That's what your word says in Zechariah 4.
David Spoon:6.
David Spoon:So we ask you to pour that into Cordelia and bring that healing power.
David Spoon:And, Lord, for the situation that involves the younger sister, much more complex, much more deeper scenario, because these decisions affect multiple lives.
David Spoon:And so they just, obviously they want to do the right thing.
David Spoon:They don't want to step in the wrong direction.
David Spoon: our word teaches us in Isaiah: David Spoon:Walk ye in it.
David Spoon:And we ask you that that would be the voice that would guide and direct them and that you would give them affirmation or confirmation to that decision making process that it wouldn't just be the decision they make.
David Spoon:But you would give them the secondary that says that is correct.
David Spoon:Please give them that confidence.
David Spoon:Let them be assured and give them a wisdom that is past them, that is in the palm of your hand that you may grant them the right direction to step.
David Spoon:And let them just have confidence that in all of it you are with them.
David Spoon:And Lord, if you're with us, that's all that matters.
David Spoon:So we ask you to pour that upon them and bless their house.
David Spoon:They call it a Jesus house.
David Spoon:Bless their house with your presence, with your praise, with your grace and mercy.
David Spoon:We pray for both of them in Jesus name.
David Spoon:Amen and amen.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Amen.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Praise the Lord.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We receive that.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Thank you, Dr.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:David.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Well, we'll keep listening.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:We're loving the show.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Loving everybody too.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Who's listening?
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Thank you, sir.
David Spoon:You're more than welcome.
David Spoon:God bless you guys.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Thank you.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Take care.
Cordelia and Joy Ann:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, so this is kind of how our show goes.
David Spoon:Most people are like going, don't you do anything normal?
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:Here's my answer.
David Spoon:No.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:I really can't.
David Spoon:I don't think I can pull off the joke one.
David Spoon:But I do want to do the teaching.
David Spoon:So let me finish this off on a teaching, okay.
David Spoon:And I think it's a really important point.
David Spoon:And I didn't get to.
David Spoon:It was not last week, but it was.
David Spoon:Was it the week before?
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:I wasn't here on Monday because I knew all.
David Spoon:So the week before I taught on this and I taught on this portion of Genesis, but I didn't get to this one part.
David Spoon:And to me it's kind of critical.
David Spoon:So I want to go back to it.
David Spoon:And then we'll just pick up what we're going to do this week for next week.
David Spoon:It's not that big a deal.
David Spoon:But here in verse 10.
David Spoon:So I'm going to read kind of a ramp up so you can follow the story.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:That's kind of a big deal.
David Spoon:So you can follow the story itself.
David Spoon:So Abraham talked.
David Spoon:This is verse 8 in chapter 13 of Genesis.
David Spoon:Abraham talked it over with lots.
David Spoon:This arguing between our herdsmen has got to stop.
David Spoon:He said, after all, we're close relatives.
David Spoon:I'll tell you what we'll do.
David Spoon:Take your choice of any section of the land you want and we will separate.
David Spoon:If you want that area over there, then I'll stay here.
David Spoon:If you want to stay in this area, then I'll move to another place.
David Spoon:So what we talked about when we were teaching this has to do with the understanding Just straightforward.
David Spoon:The understanding that Abraham was being very, very accommodating.
David Spoon:Now, Abraham didn't have to be accommodating, and I'd just like to point that out.
David Spoon:He wasn't required to be accommodating.
David Spoon:The promise of God was for him.
David Spoon:But he, in the interest of keeping a sense of unity, he recognized prior.
David Spoon:In that verse, it says that the Perizzites and the Canaanites were also in the land.
David Spoon:So Abraham and his herdsmen and Lot and his herdsmen, they kind of need to stay together just for safety's sake.
David Spoon:But I want to show you this one thing in verse 10, and I think we could probably get to that call, but I can't get to it for about two or three minutes.
David Spoon:Listen to this.
David Spoon:In verse 10, Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar.
David Spoon:The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord or the beautiful land of Egypt.
David Spoon:This was before the Lord had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
David Spoon:So why I want to bring this up, and this is kind of critical for us to maybe get a Grasp on verse 11, Lot chose the land for himself, the Jordan Valley to the east of them.
David Spoon:He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram.
David Spoon:Okay, so it's Abram, not Abraham.
David Spoon:Forgive me for that.
David Spoon:But in verse 10 and 11, something absolutely phenomenal takes place.
David Spoon:And I want you to listen to me, I really do, because I do think this will be an issue for some people.
David Spoon:In verse 10, it teaches that Lot takes a long look at the fertile area of the Jordan Valley.
David Spoon:It was well watered even, similar to the beautiful garden of the Lord or the rich lands of Egypt.
David Spoon:I mean, it's very, very appealing.
David Spoon:And this is before God is going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
David Spoon:We have that information ahead of time.
David Spoon:So we know.
David Spoon:But the verse 11 is the key to the verse.
David Spoon:And I want you to hear this.
David Spoon:Oh, if there is a good lesson out of today's show, this is a big part of it.
David Spoon:Lot chose the land for himself.
David Spoon:He chose what was best for himself.
David Spoon:Instead of considering his uncle or considering others.
David Spoon:He thought that taking care of number one was the wise decision.
David Spoon:Now, you know the story, because he makes the decision.
David Spoon:He makes the pick, right?
David Spoon:And he chooses what's best for himself.
David Spoon:Taking care of number one, that's the best decision.
David Spoon:You could not pick any worse than Lot did.
David Spoon:In fact, these people are exceedingly sinful.
David Spoon:Next week, I'M going to talk about getting too close to exceedingly sinful people.
David Spoon:But what I want you to pick up on is it doesn't appear as though Lot said, you know what, let's ask God, let's find out.
David Spoon:Let's make the best decision we can before the Lord.
David Spoon:Let's honor one another, let's do it right.
David Spoon:Let's approach this right.
David Spoon:He was just like looking out for number one.
David Spoon:And because it looked so appealing, he went for it.
David Spoon:He picked it because it was best for him.
David Spoon:He didn't take into consideration other people in the decision making.
David Spoon:He didn't take into consideration the impact it would have.
David Spoon:He didn't even think past that because all he could see was the outward beauty.
David Spoon:He could not see the darkness that he was choosing towards.
David Spoon:And if you think about the wisdom that it takes.
David Spoon:So here's Joanne and Corday asking for wisdom.
David Spoon:Sometimes you need that wisdom before you make those choices.
David Spoon:Because choosing just based on how it looks and choosing because you're looking out for number one and choosing not thinking about other people can lead to this.
David Spoon:And this was dark.
David Spoon:And I want you to understand how dark it was.
David Spoon:These people were so perverse that not even ten righteous people could be found.
David Spoon:Not even ten in a city.
David Spoon:But what was Lot looking at?
David Spoon:Well, it looked pretty appealing, looked pretty nice to me.
David Spoon:Got good watering, got everything.
David Spoon:Not getting direction from God, not doing this.
David Spoon:I'm not saying that this could have gone different because I don't know that what I am saying is that he looked at the well watered land and that's what the scripture says, and he chose the land for himself.
David Spoon:And sometimes when we choose things for our benefit alone or just our blessing alone, or for our best advantage alone, it doesn't turn out to be the blessed land that we think.
David Spoon:That's why our decisions should be connected to our relationship with the Lord, our directions, our guidance, all of that.
David Spoon:And not always choosing the best for you is what the Lord wants.
David Spoon:Sometimes choosing not the best for you is what the Lord wants.
David Spoon:Because Jesus gave himself up for us.
David Spoon:That was the love and the level of commitment he had.
David Spoon:That's a very powerful lesson.
David Spoon:It's not one lesson that I think you can just go, oh, I get it, I'll just always do that.
David Spoon:I think this is one that takes a lot of time in the Lord making the wisest decision you can.
David Spoon:Recognizing that it's not just about choosing what's best for me.
David Spoon:You understand that sometimes it's just choosing what the Lord would want you to do.
David Spoon:And oftentimes God doesn't tell people to choose what's best for them and not consider others.
David Spoon:If that happened, we would not have a messiah who became one of us.
David Spoon:If you think it through, it's like, yeah, gotta watch that.
David Spoon:That's dangerous.
David Spoon:You got it?
David Spoon:It is.
David Spoon:All right, folks, that'll do it.
David Spoon:For our Monday return show, you have been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:22 and a half hour break.
David Spoon:Then we'll be back with more insanity with Spoonanity.
David Spoon:I'll get to your text later today.
David Spoon:God bless you.
