Shownotes

When we become aware of a tender spot in another being, we need to keep in mind that if something is a tender spot, the appropriate response is to be tender.

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about tenderness and how growing up I sometimes found it hard to extend a lot of compassion, softness and mercy towards others, because I didn’t know how to offer it or allow it first within myself.

The thing is, as a child I had the double whammy - I not only hated my tender spots (because they made me feel unsafe around other people), but I was also rewarded for my toughness.

It was one of the ways I thought I received love, so why would I abandon that?

It wasn’t until later on in my adult years that I realized this strategy wasn’t actually working. I wasn’t being helpful to anyone, least of all myself.

Over time with a lot of personal & spiritual work, plus some self love - I’ve learned what it means to extend tenderness to myself, and also in turn use that same process to help others to heal themselves.

We all need someone to be tender with us, because we all have tender spots that need a little extra care and gentleness.

Are you ready to face and heal your Tender Spots?
