Solomon. Proverbs 3:9, 10 Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 5 of 30 Days of Wisdom. When we employ the resources that pass through our hands to serve those around us—relieving need and suffering, resolving crisis, uplifting, encouraging—we behave just like our Creator. What’s the kick-back? Plenty. Now, my hunch is, this isn’t a get-rich-by-being-good scheme. Sure, there’s something about treating others well that comes back to bless us, but the riches aren’t always material, or even primarily material. A rich life is not being flush with stuff, but being flush with goodness. When we give our stuff to live out the goodness of God, we are blessed. Stuffed to overflowing. As we behave like our Creator, the more like his beautiful person we become—and that is plenty beyond our wildest dreams. We are preparing, too, for citizenship in the capital of the universe with our Good King—a city Scripture dubs, New Jerusalem. I imagine that it will be a truly lavish place—in every conceivable dimension of the word.
