David Spoon:Yay.
David Spoon:Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't if we're sitting on our blessed assurance.
David Spoon:Humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

David Spoon:So here we go.
David Spoon:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
David Spoon:In the audience, you have people that have seen hundreds, if not thousands of prayers answered by the grace of God.
David Spoon:My question to you, brothers and sisters, what can our prayer warriors pray for you about?
David Spoon:What can we join you in?
David Spoon:What can we connect with you in?
David Spoon:How can we help you carry the burden?
David Spoon:How can we connect with you?
David Spoon:It's a pretty straightforward question.
David Spoon:Our people in the audience are ready to pray.
David Spoon:What can we do to be a blessing to you?
David Spoon:If you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question, please don't let it die of loneliness.
David Spoon:We consider that very sad.
David Spoon:Just reach out and give us a call.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Talking to Janet Jacob is like heading into the week with great faith and expectation.
David Spoon:Thank you, David.
David Spoon:Happy Monday.
David Spoon:Happy Monday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:Of course we'll get to Jake's take in the other 60 minutes.
David Spoon:I do want to say that you now official, you and Jennifer as well as me, we have two days that there will not be any human entities in the studio.
David Spoon:Is that correct?
David Spoon:Yes, that is correct.
David Spoon:Tuesday or tomorrow and Wednesday, we will be off.
David Spoon:The station will be closed.
David Spoon:The station will be closed, but on the air there will still be radio as we will be airing two of our top ten shows of all time.
David Spoon:Wow, that's pretty exciting right there.
David Spoon:And no, we don't expect you to be.
David Spoon:We're not telling.
David Spoon:Oh, you gotta.
David Spoon:You gotta listen.
David Spoon:If you want to listen, you're welcome to it.
David Spoon:I will say answering the trivia questions probably won't get you very far.
David Spoon:Just a little thought there for you to be aware of.
David Spoon:But beware of the schedule.
David Spoon:The studio will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
David Spoon:And as it is in the last 30 minutes or so, some of my family has a rivid from Tennesseeth and they are in the houseth as far as I knoweth.
David Spoon:I'm pretty sure.
David Spoon:I'm confident of that.
David Spoon:So, yeah, gonna be an interesting couple of days at our house, and I hope it's gonna be an interesting couple days for everybody.
David Spoon:Never forget the most important thing about everything that we do, we're doing, we will do.
David Spoon:And that is Jesus.
David Spoon:He is the key to all of it.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So like I said, we'll get to Jake's take.
David Spoon:We do want you to be aware we are gonna be praying, by the way, for to the churches as they do their best to minister to people over this week and then the weekend as well.
David Spoon:As we're gonna be praying for various families.
David Spoon:And we're gonna be special prayer out for those that are struggling a little bit more in the holidays because they're feeling a little lonely.
David Spoon:We'll get to that as well.
David Spoon:But I want you to be aware of reaching out to us, what that can accomplish for you.
David Spoon:First and foremost, we are telling you right now, if you've got a prayer request, just bring it and we will pray about it.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:You can text.
David Spoon:Did you hear what I said?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:That is the ministry line.
David Spoon:But during the show, it's only for text Additionally, you can send an email.
David Spoon:An email?
David Spoon:Yeah, an email.
David Spoon:Davidemustincrease.org that'll come right to my computer.
David Spoon:Davidemustincrease.org so it can be for a prayer request.
David Spoon:Let me say this.
David Spoon:It can be for a praise report or a testimony.
David Spoon:Has the Lord done something phenomenal?
David Spoon:Has the Lord done something that you know was the hand of God?
David Spoon:You're not even sure how you can explain it.
David Spoon:Just know it was the hand of God.
David Spoon:Call and share that, text that in, Send it in by email.
David Spoon:People love it because it just gives us an awareness that God is active all around us.
David Spoon:He didn't go to Pluto and he's not taking a nap.
David Spoon:He is active in your life.
David Spoon:He loves you and he cares about you.
David Spoon:You and how you are doing matters to the Lord.
David Spoon:Never forget that.
David Spoon:So it can be for a praise report, it can be for a prayer request.
David Spoon:It can be for any of those kind of things.
David Spoon:Maybe just a scripture.
David Spoon:You want to share something that's been happening, I just want to let you know.
David Spoon:Personally, I'm very, very thankful to the Lord that my family has arrived safely and we will be having time together.
David Spoon:I haven't had a chance to see my family in quite some time, so I'm looking forward to that.
David Spoon:I do wanna open up with prayer for the churches.
David Spoon:We'll get to the families and the people that are struggling a little bit later, but I wanna open up with prayer.
David Spoon:So I want you, if you're driving, don't close your eyes.
David Spoon:Hello?
David Spoon:But if you're listening, I want you to stretch your faith out with mine.
David Spoon:When two or more gathered together in my name, it doesn't say they have to be in the same house.
David Spoon:It says, when two or more gathered together in my name, we're gathered together in the name of the Lord.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Let's petition the Lord and ask for help for the people of God who are serving other people of God and not yet believers.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and we just want to thank you and praise you for your graciousness that you've poured upon every one of us more than any of us could ever deserve.
David Spoon:We are not worthy of the gifts that you pour out upon us.
David Spoon:Your love, your kindness, your patience, your protection.
David Spoon:And Lord, we have your servants, the people of God, who are going to give of themselves to serve other people, people who aren't saved and people who are saved.
David Spoon:And we are simply asking that these churches, Lord, that are honoring your name and trying to serve others, that you would bless them with encouragement, with energy.
David Spoon:They would not get discouraged.
David Spoon:They would have plenty of strength to do the things that are set before them.
David Spoon:They would serve the people of God and the people who are on their way to becoming a part of your family.
David Spoon:We lift up the churches and everybody involved, the leadership, all the way at the top to all the way at the bottom to the person that does things that nobody knows.
David Spoon:And we ask that you would bless your servants and Lord, they would serve with joy and that you would pour your jo into them as a reward for being servants.
David Spoon:Bless the churches.
David Spoon:We're here in Texas, Lord.
David Spoon:Bless these churches in Texas that honor your name, that come before you, that seek to serve and to honor you and to glorify you.
David Spoon:And let people be touched and let hearts be stirred and let people who know you draw closer to you, people who know you and have gone away come back to you.
David Spoon:And people that have really never known you come to find a saving faith.
David Spoon:Lift up all of the churches, all of the servants, all of the people of God in all the ministries, not just church ministries, in all the ministries.
David Spoon:Bless your people.
David Spoon:Pour out your spirit, Jesus, be glorified.
David Spoon:We lift all this up, Father unto you.
David Spoon:And we pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
David Spoon:Amen and amen.
David Spoon:Okey dokey.
David Spoon:That is how we start our Sunday show again.
David Spoon:Don't forget that Tuesday and Wednesday will be two of the top 10 shows of all time in replay.
David Spoon:In the meantime, we are in Titus and we are in chapter two, picking it up at verse one.
David Spoon:And last Monday we talked about this.
David Spoon:It's very important to understand that we are supposed to proclaim things that are consistent with sound teaching.
David Spoon:Sound teaching and correct teaching is found in the word of God.
David Spoon:It doesn't mean that it's okay to add your own stuff or my own stuff.
David Spoon:Our own little twists.
David Spoon:It's cool that people see things differently.
David Spoon:That's not the issue.
David Spoon:There's never been an issue with that.
David Spoon:What the Lord wants to make sure is that you and I are using sound teaching the gospel, true words of God in what we're communicating.
David Spoon: to Revelation: David Spoon:Love God.
David Spoon:That is the message of the Lord.
David Spoon:So now as Titus is learning and he's hearing from Paul, and remember, Titus is in Crete.
David Spoon:He's on an island.
David Spoon:It's a little bit more difficult than Timothy's situation, who had a much More of a metropolitan place to be at.
David Spoon:Titus is in a little bit tighter spot.
David Spoon:And we go through some of these elements and you find out that even the recommendations or the requirements, I should say, for being in leadership are a few less than Timothy because he's not in the same kind of place.
David Spoon:And thereby all the churches that try and use Titus and Timothy together are mixing two separate situations together.
David Spoon:Probably shouldn't do that.
David Spoon:But now Paul wants to talk to Titus because he knows this is a small group, it's an intimate group, and he wants to give them some social insight.
David Spoon:And the social insight is simply this.
David Spoon:He says you're to proclaim things consistent with sound teaching.
David Spoon:The first thing he mentions is older men are to be self controlled, worthy of respect, sensible and sound in faith, love and endurance.
David Spoon:The first thing that Paul brings up to Titus is, look, older men, they need to be self controlled.
David Spoon:So he's encouraging Titus on how to deal with older men.
David Spoon:Older, older men should be self controlled.
David Spoon:And what that means is older men should have enough of a sense of decency and know how to restrain themselves when restraint is called for.
David Spoon:When you watch television or look at something on the Internet and you listen to some of our current politicians and you listen and watch media from Hollywood or if you watch some of the news people, you know, some of these people are not doing a very good job of operating in self control.
David Spoon:They just blurt out whatever, and it's just like, wow, that is the height of immaturity.
David Spoon:You'll know if you're being immature, if you just can't control anything.
David Spoon:That is immaturity.
David Spoon:No, I just can't control it.
David Spoon:Yes, you can.
David Spoon:In fact, it talks about prophecy in First Corinthians 12, 13, 14, and it says that the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet, which means no prophet has to go bouncing up and down on a pogo stick in order to share their prophecy.
David Spoon:There is a control factor that any person prophetically has.
David Spoon:The same is true for people who are older.
David Spoon:There should be a sense of control.
David Spoon:It shouldn't be that you're so dignified that you're not willing to be undignified for the Lord.
David Spoon:What it means is you just can't go.
David Spoon:You're supposed to be a little mature.
David Spoon:And that's what Titus is being reminded of by the Apostle Paul.
David Spoon:He says, look, older men, they're supposed to be self controlled.
David Spoon:There's supposed to be a maturity there.
David Spoon:So for you guys who are running the breakdown, I always love giving this breakdown.
David Spoon:People get irritated by it.
David Spoon:But I think it's funny.
David Spoon:0 to 20 is a child.
David Spoon:20 to 40 is a young person.
David Spoon:40 to 60 is a person.
David Spoon:60 and older is an elder.
David Spoon:That's the breakdown in the custom in Jewish society.
David Spoon:He's like, look, these older people, man, they need to have some self control.
David Spoon:They need to exhibit it and they need to be there for it.
David Spoon:And the next thing he says is worthy of respect.
David Spoon:Now this is really funny and I'll tell you why it's funny.
David Spoon:Because older men are supposed to be worthy of respect and be sensible, right?
David Spoon:That seems like common traits that happen in people as they age.
David Spoon:But sometimes, let's be honest, sometimes the little kid in each one of us gets the best of us.
David Spoon:And so we need to be encouraged to live a life worthy of respect before the Lord.
David Spoon:Before you get all legalistic on me, I don't want you to do that.
David Spoon:Don't get legalistic on me.
David Spoon:I'm not saying you can't have fun.
David Spoon:That's all in the show.
David Spoon:Half the show is fun.
David Spoon:What I am saying is that we should live a life worthy of honor unto the Lord.
David Spoon:It has nothing to do with whether you're saved or not.
David Spoon:In the context of living that life, worthy does not save you.
David Spoon:The blood of Jesus Christ saves you.
David Spoon:But if you're saved, this is a good line.
David Spoon:I've heard this, a preacher, say it multiple times.
David Spoon:But if you're saved, it wouldn't kill you to act like it.
David Spoon:It's like, ooh, that's a good line.
David Spoon:Like, ooh, good point.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Because the Lord has impacted your life.
David Spoon:He loves you, he's with you, he's for you.
David Spoon:Okay, well, show a little respect and appreciation.
David Spoon:Okay, that seems absolutely the right thing.
David Spoon:I mean, it just seems like it's absolutely critical.
David Spoon:And so Paul's just saying, look, he said older men should be self controlled, worthy of respect, sensible.
David Spoon:There should be a sensibility about it.
David Spoon:And if you're younger and moving your way to becoming older, recognize that's going to be part of your future.
David Spoon:Because that's what the Lord wants.
David Spoon:But he says something else that's massively fascinating in the text.
David Spoon:He says that older men should be sound in the faith, sound in love and sound in endurance.
David Spoon:So after we do the trivia question, I want to talk about that sound of faith.
David Spoon:Because that is a challenge to every one of us to operate in faith.
David Spoon:When we're looking at things and they don't present themselves as favorable, how do we respond?
David Spoon:Are we Sound in faith.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Okay, here comes your first trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's see if you guys can get this one.
David Spoon:It should not be difficult.
David Spoon:Jesus said this in Revelation 1:8.
David Spoon:I am the blank and the blank, the beginning and the end.
David Spoon:I am the blank and the blank, the beginning and the end.
David Spoon:What are those blank and blanks?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:You can also text a Rooney.
David Spoon:Text Aruni.
David Spoon:Yeah, it's like texting, only it's Aruni.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email davidemustincrease.org from Revelation, chapter one, verse eight.
David Spoon:Jesus said I am the and the and then he says the beginning and the ending.
David Spoon:What are those blanks?
David Spoon:What is it that fills in there that we need to be aware of?
David Spoon:If you think, you know, reach out to us.
David Spoon:In the meantime, I am going to send you up to the website.
David Spoon:Today is the 23rd day of December.
David Spoon:Our radio rent is due December 27th and we are short of rent.
David Spoon:But we believe very strongly that by the grace of God, people will give and we will have that rent ready and ready to go.
David Spoon:And I look forward to the following Monday sharing that we paid it.
David Spoon:So I'm just reminding people, Radio Rent put it on your prayer list.
David Spoon:If you're going to do something, we could use that help.
David Spoon:Thank you very much.
David Spoon:In the meantime on the website, still lots of cool stuff.
David Spoon:And if you go across the website and find anything you want and you can't get it like a book or anything like that, tell us and we'll get it to you for free, no cost, no matter what.
David Spoon:Okay, here's your scripture for today.
David Spoon:2 Corinthians 9:6:7.
David Spoon:The point is this.
David Spoon:Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly.
David Spoon:Whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
David Spoon:One must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly, not under compulsion.
David Spoon:For God loves a cheerful giver.
David Spoon:Make sure when you give, whether to us or anybody else, you got the right heart and the right spirit for it.
David Spoon:Otherwise, keep it.
David Spoon:And the reason I'm saying that is because you're not giving it in faith.
David Spoon:You probably should just hang on to it.
David Spoon:That would be my advice.
David Spoon:I am going to encourage you to check out the website and all that's on there.
David Spoon:Please check out hemustincrease.org prayer request.
David Spoon:Hemosincrease.org praise report.
David Spoon:Hemostincrease.org looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:He mustincrease.org confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org what are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut?
David Spoon:No, we're exterminators.
David Spoon:Somebody saw a cockroach up on 12.
David Spoon:That's gotta be some cockroach.
David Spoon:Bite your head off, man.
David Spoon:That'll bite your head off.
David Spoon:That is some cockroach.
David Spoon:We do have somebody ready to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
JD:Good afternoon, David.
JD:This is jd.
David Spoon:Hello.
David Spoon:Hello, jd, My B.
David Spoon:How are you?
David Spoon:Brother in Christ?
David Spoon:How are ya?
JD:I'm doing fantastic, thank you.
JD:No problem with the allergies, but getting through that, not a problem.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Get through that.
David Spoon:That's something you gotta get through.
David Spoon:All right, my brother.
David Spoon:Let me set it up for you and you can take care of it.
David Spoon:Jesus said this in Revelation, chapter 1, verse 8.
David Spoon:He said, I am the blank and the blank, the beginning and the ending.
David Spoon:What is the blank and the blank?
JD:The first letter of the Greek Alphabet and the last letter of the Greek Alphabet.
David Spoon:That is correct.
JD:Which are alpha and omega.
David Spoon:He is the alpha and the Omega.
David Spoon:In our understanding, we would call him the A to the Z.
David Spoon:And some people are like, why does he say that?
David Spoon:Because Jesus is everything you need between A and Z, period.
JD:Yes, he is that.
David Spoon:He is.
David Spoon:He is an awesome.
David Spoon:I love this saying.
David Spoon:He's a better savior than we are sinners.
David Spoon:So good.
David Spoon:Thank God.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:I mean, I am very thankful for that personally.
David Spoon:Awesome, brother.
David Spoon:Awesome.
David Spoon:Anything else we can do for you?
JD:Merry, merry Christmas.
David Spoon:Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas to you, my brother.
JD:Thank you.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:God bless you, bro.
David Spoon:Bye bye, bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:And for those that don't know, and so I say this, so it's MERRY Christmas.
David Spoon:The 25th.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:25th is Christmas.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:And also though, the 25th is the first day of Hanukkah.
David Spoon:So instead of just saying happy Holidays, which means nothing to anybody, just say Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.
David Spoon:And if you're lucky, Hanukkahi will visit you with pencils and socks.
David Spoon:Don't laugh.
David Spoon:I could use some pencils anyway.
David Spoon:All right, Great job by J.D.
David Spoon:he's our Bic.
David Spoon:Bic.
David Spoon:Brother in Christ.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:All right, let's get back to this text.
David Spoon:I Want to talk about this faith thing?
David Spoon:We don't have a lot of time and I want to get to it.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:Here is what Titus hears from Paul.
David Spoon:He says, look, he said older people have got to be self controlled, worthy of respect, sensible, sound in faith, love and endurance.
David Spoon:Let me explain to you sound in faith.
David Spoon:I don't do it very well as often as I should and I'm in the elder stage.
David Spoon:Here's what it is.
David Spoon:We gotta have faith that's real.
David Spoon:We have to have faith that's active.
David Spoon:We have to have faith that we don't use as a crutch, but use as a way of life.
David Spoon:In fact, the scripture says, for we walk by faith, faith and not by sight.
David Spoon:What do you mean?
David Spoon:You don't walk by sight.
David Spoon:You don't walk your life by what you can see and by what you can assess.
David Spoon:Proverbs 3, 5, 6.
David Spoon:Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
David Spoon:You and I are leaning on our own understanding.
David Spoon:When we look at situation and evaluate it from us without faith.
David Spoon:And we're don't.
David Spoon:That's not being sound in faith.
David Spoon:Sound in faith is looking at your circumstance and seeing it, knowing that Jesus is in that picture.
David Spoon:Being sound in love is looking at that person, looking at that situation and loving them, knowing that Jesus is in that picture as you look at them, that you love them because Jesus loves you.
David Spoon:And the endurance part means that you don't quit on either faith or love or anything else.
David Spoon:People will do things that are wrong and they will hurt you and it will hurt.
David Spoon:Jesus didn't say if somebody offends you.
David Spoon:By the way, in the Greek, it's when somebody offends you.
David Spoon:So when you get offended, then you need to operate in this Christ like spirit, the Holy Spirit living inside you.
David Spoon:And what happens after you get hurt is you have to raise up from the ground if they hurt you and operate with them connected to Jesus, have mercy on them.
David Spoon:And if you want to, have the best reason why, because God has mercy on you.
David Spoon:And he even makes that clear in the Sermon on the Mount.
David Spoon:Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have debts against us.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:That's the situation.
David Spoon:God wants us to be.
David Spoon:Sound in faith, sound in love.
David Spoon:Enduring, putting up enduring and passing.
David Spoon:Getting through it all this holiday, you're gonna have family and maybe not every brilliant word is gonna be said.
David Spoon:Could happen.
David Spoon:You know what?
David Spoon:Be sound in faith and in love and endure.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:That's kind of a good advice for all the families getting together.
David Spoon:All right, we'll take a short break, then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Lima:What is the David Spoon Experience?
David Lima: lf on a rocket ship racing at: David Lima:Once there, you can sense the power and the presence of the majestic and the divine.
David Lima:You forget about your troubles and your fears, and you just float in peace without a worry.
David Lima:In the world, there are no struggles, no pain, no discomfort.
David Lima:It's soothing, calm, comfortable.
David Lima:But then the show starts, and you realize that none of that stuff has anything to do with the show.
David Lima:What were you thinking?
David Lima:The David Spoon Experience.
David Lima:Only for the brave of heart and the board.
David Spoon:My next guest has been on the show before with a prior book.
David Spoon:I'm very excited to talk to him about this book.
David Spoon:I've seen a couple of the interviews that he's done, and this book is a great apologetic book on Christology, and I'm hoping that people really enjoy this.
David Spoon:First and foremost, let's welcome back to our show David Lima.
David Spoon:David, how are you doing, sir?
JD:Great.
JD:How are you doing?
David Spoon:I'm doing fantastic.
David Spoon:Excellent book, by the way.
David Spoon:Big props for writing the True Jesus, Uncovering the divinity of Christ in the Gospels.
David Spoon:I know they give me a list, and I know you know, they give a list for us to ask questions.
David Spoon:But if you remember from the last time you ran the show, I rarely look at that list because I like to get from you as the author, kind of where it was going and what you were thinking.
David Spoon:So let's just talk about at the core level, for the purpose of writing this book, what was the big goal you were trying to accomplish in writing the true Jesus?
JD:Well, I started out, I wanted to write a primer survey, an introduction to the New Testament.
JD:And as I got into it, I realized that I could not cover it adequately with sufficient depth.
JD:So I asked the publisher, Ragnar, if I could narrow the focus to just the Gospels, because the Gospels are where you see the living Son of God and you encounter him and you sit at his feet and hear his teachings, and you watch him and you observe his behavior and his authoritative teaching and his empathy for human beings.
JD:And you see his declaration of divinity and why he led the Jewish authorities to want to crucify him, because he was, in fact, claiming to be God, because he is God.
JD:And so I want his divinity and his full humanity to jump off the pages of my book.
JD:The book is a.
JD:Is a compendium of the four Gospels in a consolidated account, not attempting to be a harmony, which you can't totally do in a roughly chronological form.
JD:The ultimate goal, and with a running commentary, the ultimate goal is I want people.
JD:I want to inspire people to read the Gospel and the Bible for themselves.
