Shownotes

In this episode, we dive into the question of whether someone can operate in a personality style that's not their natural style over an extended period of time. Initially, I believed that doing so would inevitably lead to burnout. However, upon further reflection, I've come to realize that it is indeed possible to temporarily adopt a different personality style if the people around you are accommodating.

When those around you allow and support you to be that type of person, it becomes much more manageable to operate outside of your natural style, even if it clashes with others. However, it's important to note that in the long run, constantly functioning in a style that is not inherent to you will drain your energy and make sustainability nearly impossible.

That being said, if those around you are willing to acquiesce and follow your lead, it becomes much more feasible to take on a different personality style for a shorter period. For example, if you're naturally supportive and giving but have to temporarily operate in a more assertive and demanding role, it can be done. However, if you consistently face conflict and opposition from individuals with strong personalities, it won't lead to long-term success.

Therefore, it is crucial to have a supportive environment that allows you to operate in the necessary style. If those around you aren't supportive, navigating the situation can be challenging. Nevertheless, with the right support, it's possible to adapt and produce good work in a different personality style than your natural one.
