Shownotes
If you are looking for some inspiration to just get out there and get cycling, this is the episode for you. This week, Kristi and guest co-host Brooke Goudy welcome Mai Merritt - athlete, coach, activist, and friend. Mai shares her experience of developing a love for sport, and how she got to where she is today. Mai talks about the difference between the way sport is framed in the U.S. compared to her home country in Africa, and how the emphasis on play in Africa helped her find joy in sport.
Focusing on Black joy as we move through Black history month, Brooke asks Mai about her experience of joy while engaging in sport. Further, Mai shares her "mantra" of just doing. If there is something she wants to do, as Mai says, she doesn't think twice. Mai gives examples of how this has played out for her, including bicycling across America and the New York City Triathlon.
