Shownotes

I have such an inspiring human to introduce you to today. Samantha Gash has such an amazing story and we had one of those deep conversations that felt like it could have just gone on for hours and hours. She felt like a true soul sista and I can’t wait for you to dive into this episode with me.An accomplished lawyer working for the largest international law firm in the world, Samantha traded in her heels for running shoes and went out to change the world through highly collaborative social impact campaigns. With true grit, unrelenting focus and the willingness to create the next best plan in the face of chaos and change, she has created lasting impact. She has raised $1.5 million dollars for charities such as World Vision, Save the Children and the Australian Red Cross.A trailblazer in the endurance world, Samantha was the first woman and the youngest person at the time, to complete the Four Deserts Grand Slam - one of the world’s toughest endurance competitions that spans 1000kms across the hottest, coldest, driest and windiest deserts on earth. With over 25,000kms under her feet and years of pushing her mental and physical boundaries - she now uses running as a vehicle for social change through advocacy; peer to peer fundraising and integrated digital campaigns (see social impact campaigns below). In March 2020, she launched the Sam Gash Podcast - a peak performing podcast that hosts adventurers, innovators, entrepreneurs, athletes & artists.TOPICS WE COVER:7:00 - The different versions of ourselves that we need at any given time9:30 - The impact of being bullied as a child had on Samantha13:45 - The period in Samantha’s life where she just started to say “yes”15:00 - How this shift to “yes” changed once Samantha became a mother16:26 - How Samantha lives the 5 C’s of creating confidence17:15 - Working with her fear to her advantage20:00 - What it was like doing a TED talk23:00 - The shifts that we go through in life and how to work through those24:20 - What really living in your passion looks like27:00 - Why Samantha believes we should have many goals and how ego plays a role30:00 - The importance of having an agile mind32:00 - Think about why you’re doing the things that you’re doing - is it for yourself or for others?35:20 - What it was like coming home after running across India 37:00 - Embracing and fully “living in” your experiences39:00 - How becoming a mother has changed Samantha’s shift and priorities42:10 - How the mum guilt plays into Samantha’s life and choices45:20 - Finding your teams to support you46:50 - How life has changed during COVID and what are the lessons and opportunities within49:00 - Why Samantha decided to start a podcast50:00 - Giving yourself permission to evolve and change your mind52:00 - Why showing your vulnerability is so important53:40 - Taking off the mask of perfection57:50 - How Samantha came to her solid state of mind through sportConnect with Samantha:Samantha’s website: http://www.samanthagash.comPodcast: https://www.samanthagash.com/podcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/samanthagash/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samanthagash/Twitter: https://twitter.com/samanthagashTEDx talkConnect with Erika:Instagram: @thequeenofconfidenceFacebook: @TheconfidencequeenYouTube: The Confidence Chronicles and The Queen Of ConfidenceLinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/in/erika-cramer-ab695571Sistahood Program: https://thequeenofconfidenc
