On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, Lady Fancy Pants should have called it biohazard magic, not hybrid magic.
Speaker B:And we've got magical battles and kicking ass.
Speaker B:Let's do this.
Speaker A:Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.
Speaker A:I'm Diana.
Speaker B:And I'm Liz.
Speaker A:And we're going to talk season 12, episode 22, who We Are.
Speaker B:That's who we are.
Speaker B:And that is a descendant song.
Speaker B:And so that is.
Speaker B:That is stuck in my head.
Speaker B:But I also feel like it's like a bunch of other punk rock songs, but it's just other punk rock songs that sound like they should say who we are.
Speaker B:Yeah, they just say something that's like maybe slightly different, like, who are you?
Speaker B:Who am I?
Speaker B:You know, like, there's so many versions of that and like every.
Speaker B:Every punk rock band has a song that's something like that.
Speaker A:That we are something.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:We all stand.
Speaker B:You know, something, you know.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So what have you been up to?
Speaker A:So what happened?
Speaker A:Oh, I've been to a couple.
Speaker A:I went to two shows.
Speaker A:Oh my gosh.
Speaker A:I went and saw Jenny Dton the Spurs and Kate Clover.
Speaker A:And Kate Clover is just awesome.
Speaker A:She.
Speaker A:I sent you a picture of her outfit.
Speaker A:Anyways, she's just super fun chick rock and roll out of California and I really enjoy her.
Speaker A:I've seen her once before, so if.
Speaker B:She's come to your town, check her out.
Speaker A:But also went and saw.
Speaker A:We had a big.
Speaker A:There's a big show at a new venue and it was Vandeliers local H, Black Angels and the Toadies.
Speaker A:Because the Toadies have any album out if you remember them.
Speaker A:But anyway, so, yeah, it was super fun outdoors.
Speaker A:It was.
Speaker A:The weather was lovely after a week of rain and hung out and went to breakfast in Deep Ella Allgood Cafe.
Speaker A:Like, who.
Speaker A:I don't know who I am, but that's what I did this weekend.
Speaker B:That's exciting.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So, yeah.
Speaker A:What about you?
Speaker B:Oh, really haven't been up too much of anything.
Speaker B:But the episode of Boys with.
Speaker B:With Padalecki and with Misha Collins came out and it was.
Speaker B:I'm not gonna spoil it, but it was all, you know, it was disgusting.
Speaker B:I knew it was going to be and it was, you know, and then just.
Speaker B:We couldn't think, like it couldn't get more disgusting than it did.
Speaker B:And I will say, like the one thing that encrypt.
Speaker B:You said it in a lot of interviews was the goal was to kill as many celebrities as possible.
Speaker B:So the whole episode is about how many cameos they could crowd in.
Speaker B:And so basically, how many celebrities could they have in this one episode and violently murder them?
Speaker B:Oh, okay.
Speaker B:So disgusting.
Speaker B:Fun.
Speaker A:Well, yeah, so there's been some interesting.
Speaker A:There's been some interesting coverage about it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So, yeah, I'm glad that's out.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:Yeah, so that's.
Speaker A:Glad you saw it.
Speaker B:I'm glad I saw it.
Speaker B:And I'm sad that it's over because I, you know, I can't.
Speaker B:I. I don't know.
Speaker B:Like, they probably won't.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:They said they may be possible things in flashbacks with Vault Rising, that there's a possibility of.
Speaker B:Of bringing it back.
Speaker B:Because Vault Rising is before.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Interesting.
Speaker A:Yeah, there's been some of the commentary, I guess, some of the interviews.
Speaker A:They've commented that, like, how interesting it was for the.
Speaker A:The three of them to interact as totally different characters than they had before.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Because it hasn't been all three of them doing that, I guess.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Since Supernatural.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But I mean, they're all obviously male.
Speaker B:Chemical is a certain disgusting level of.
Speaker B:Of.
Speaker B:Of character.
Speaker B:And that's Misha Collins's character.
Speaker B:And so, yeah, they all have their various quirks.
Speaker B:And I will just say overall, and I'm spoiling this.
Speaker B:The drug use overall, in the boys is just.
Speaker B:Sometimes it's just.
Speaker B:It's just shocking to watch.
Speaker B:And I'm just like, am I approved?
Speaker B:Like, am I really just surprised by this?
Speaker B:But sometimes it's like, oh, my God, you're so.
Speaker B:And so is doing drugs.
Speaker B:And it's just like, I know.
Speaker B:Grow up.
Speaker B:Like, but.
Speaker A:And you're like, how do they know how to do that?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Do they know what that.
Speaker A:What that would be like in the real world now?
Speaker B:That I would.
Speaker B:I have never.
Speaker B:Like, I wouldn't know what any of that stuff is.
Speaker B:Like, so how dare they put this on television?
Speaker A:Yeah, that's why you're upset.
Speaker B:That's why it's.
Speaker B:It is just, you know, it's Sometimes.
Speaker B:Sometimes it's just funny.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:That's my life.
Speaker B:My life is tv.
Speaker B:And I know I beat a Super Mario Brothers game, and I swear I'm an adult.
Speaker B:Well, I mean, sounds sometimes relaxing.
Speaker B:Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker B:And once.
Speaker B:And I'm a completist, so, like, kind of once I start something, I have to finish it.
Speaker B:So I started playing the game, and so then I had to play it until it was done, and then.
Speaker B:And then I can move on with my life.
Speaker A:There you go.
Speaker B:So anyways, let's talk about this episode.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker B:There is no reason for who we are.
Speaker B:Besides there they weren't referencing the Descended song.
Speaker B:It was not written when this episode came out.
Speaker B:That that song is I think.
Speaker B:I think it was written like two years ago.
Speaker B: ,: Speaker B:And it was directed by John F. Showalter, who for this season did episode four, American Nightmare, and also the British Invasion, and it was written by Robbie Behrens.
Speaker B:And this season he did episode three, the Foundry.
Speaker B:He did Rock Never Dies.
Speaker B:Remember that one?
Speaker B:That was great.
Speaker B:And episode 14, the Raid.
Speaker B:Okay, so, and then we get our recap, which is flashback to that time Roy and Walt shot Sam and Dean.
Speaker B:That was going way back.
Speaker B:And we got Jody, then we got.
Speaker B:Mary's been tortured and brainwashed.
Speaker B:Everyone got locked out of the bunker.
Speaker B:Catch gave a literal villains monologue about how he's going to kill them.
Speaker B:Like it was.
Speaker B:He might as well have had a cat.
Speaker B:And in that monologue and then stroking its head as it would have.
Speaker B:It would have completed it.
Speaker B:He really did need like a cat.
Speaker A:He did.
Speaker B:Catch needed a cat.
Speaker B:All right, so he's too much of.
Speaker A:A sociopath for an animal though.
Speaker B:True.
Speaker B:But maybe like a hellcat.
Speaker B:Like he should have bonded with the hell dog.
Speaker A:Hellhound.
Speaker B:Hellhound.
Speaker B:How does golden hell dog anyhow?
Speaker B:All right, so that's our recap.
Speaker B:And we start off with there is a body and a bloody Mary.
Speaker B:Yeah, and not the good drink, not the drink kind.
Speaker A:Yeah, no, unfortunately.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:There's a bloody body on top of this like old truck.
Speaker A:1940S pickup truck.
Speaker A:And then this, they zoom out and there's a bunch of old cars because Mary just killed some dude at an auto repair shop.
Speaker A:And she.
Speaker A:Yeah, and she is cleaning like this weird claw blade thing under the sink.
Speaker A:Poorly.
Speaker A:It's like, why even bother that you're like, cleaning it?
Speaker A:But not.
Speaker B:It's a barely.
Speaker B:Like, she just is so covered in blood.
Speaker B:Covered in blood and just what?
Speaker B:Yeah, why are you bothering with us?
Speaker B:You might as well just get a wet wipe and go across your face.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And she sends a text to Catch saying, lester's down.
Speaker A:Who's next?
Speaker A:And as she's getting in her car, she gets responses.
Speaker A:And it's Fred McCray, Idaho.
Speaker A:Kirby Sheffield, Wyoming.
Speaker A:And Jody Mills, South Dakota.
Speaker B:No, not Jody.
Speaker B:So we cut from that to the bunker and everyone is in there discussing their situation and how there really isn't a way out of the bunker.
Speaker B:And Dean proposes killing Lady Fancy Pants in order to save some oxygen.
Speaker A:And she insists that she's a shallow breather.
Speaker A:I was like, okay.
Speaker A:But she's also like, hey, I'm also the only one that can deprogram your mom, so you need me.
Speaker A:And they're like.
Speaker A:And they're like, well, she could be lying or she might be telling the truth.
Speaker A:50, 50 Chance.
Speaker A:We better keep her alive.
Speaker A:Okay, so they're like, fine, well then if you're so smart, since she was shooting down all of their ideas, how.
Speaker A:What do you say we do?
Speaker A:How do we get out of here?
Speaker A:How do we undo this?
Speaker A:And she's like, oh, there's just a manual override.
Speaker B:They're like, what the fuck?
Speaker A:Why didn't you tell us?
Speaker B:She's like, oh, because it's outside.
Speaker B:Oh, not helpful.
Speaker B:But still, it's something they know.
Speaker B:And then Sam's like, hey, we are in a vault filled with magical books.
Speaker B:Surely there is something in this bunker that can reverse this lockdown.
Speaker B:So let's start going through the books.
Speaker B:So we get a flash on the screen.
Speaker B:That is going to be day one, right?
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And Sam finds a Romani spell, the abrogation ritual, which is used for.
Speaker B:As an act of rebellion against the persecutors.
Speaker B:And it turns back mechanical processes.
Speaker B:Processes and resets machinery, except that it needs virgin blood.
Speaker B:And everyone kind of like looks around.
Speaker A:And like, yeah, they're out of luck.
Speaker B:But Sam then just is like, oh, we can, we can fake it, right?
Speaker B:We can take a purification spell and re.
Speaker B:Virginize that blood and use it.
Speaker B:And then Lady Fancy Pants is all like two step hybrid magic.
Speaker B:I'm like, is that really unusual?
Speaker B:Like you're just putting two things together?
Speaker B:It's not.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:I thought that was a weird thing.
Speaker A:Like, okay, like, yes, you're doing a thing to do the next thing.
Speaker A:Yes, that's how a lot of things work.
Speaker B:Oh yeah.
Speaker B:And then they do some very unsanitary magic where they just use a, a, a, a pocket knife.
Speaker B:Not even just one that you know, somebody went.
Speaker A:And you know, they have like a kitchen there.
Speaker A:So like they could use like a clean knife and I'm sure somewhere in the bunker a knife that is made for this.
Speaker B:But also, why are you kind of your hand.
Speaker B:But why the palm of their hand?
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker B:That's where you get the blood.
Speaker B:That's, that's.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So they put that all into a bowl.
Speaker B:And so then they all say some words over it.
Speaker B:We hear the Locks were.
Speaker B:And the lights flicker.
Speaker B:And everyone's kind of excited because we're like, it's working.
Speaker B:And then it doesn't work because catch put a damper on the bunker.
Speaker B:So you can't do magic.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And of course, Lady Bubble's like, oh, I should have known.
Speaker A:Of course he did.
Speaker A:So no magic will work.
Speaker A:And it's like, you could have said that earlier, but.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:She seems like, you know, say things a little afterwards.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So then we get day two,.
Speaker A:And Dean's like, all right, we tried brain.
Speaker A:Now we're gonna try brawn.
Speaker A:So he's like, here is the spot that is the least reinforced in the entire bunker.
Speaker A:It is just some.
Speaker A:A little bit of concrete, and then it goes to the sewer line, and we can climb up.
Speaker A:And we are going to quote straight Shawshank this bitch.
Speaker A:And so Sam and Dean go start pickaxing the wall.
Speaker A:This concrete wall with goggles.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Well, after they first did it without and then realized they needed them, so at least they put them on and.
Speaker A:They earn a break after quite some time and exertion, after making, like, no progress.
Speaker A:It is.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:But they.
Speaker B:They get really dirty and sweaty, and that's okay.
Speaker B:So they're.
Speaker B:Well, they're, like, sweating it out.
Speaker B:Sam wants to know how all of this happened.
Speaker B:And Dean remembers, you know, that.
Speaker B:You know, that time they thought they had it made with mom and cast back?
Speaker B:Like, when was that?
Speaker B:Like, when did you guys think you had it made?
Speaker B:Like, things have been pretty bad for 12 seasons, but now, like, those things are all gone, and they're just.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, yeah, that's.
Speaker A:He's like.
Speaker A:Sam's really upset and beating himself up because he fell for the British Men of Letters.
Speaker A:He thought, like, there was just so much good they can do.
Speaker A:And then what?
Speaker A:But he got sold on that.
Speaker A:And then once he was in, he really found it easier to be a follower than a leader.
Speaker A:So he started down that path with them.
Speaker B:Are you a leader or are you a follower, Sam?
Speaker B:So Sam is now pulling himself up, and he thinks he's gonna be a leader.
Speaker B:But Sam wants to know if this is how Dean pictured it ending.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:And Dean's like, no, I always thought we'd be going out blaze of glory style.
Speaker B:Which gives Dean an idea.
Speaker A:Oh, goodness.
Speaker A:We've cut to Lady Bevel calling them lunatics because Dean finally.
Speaker A:Finally gets to use his grenade launcher.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:Hey, Yupika.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Even though fancy pants thinks it's a terrible idea.
Speaker B:And he fires It.
Speaker B:And there's a giant hole in the wall.
Speaker B:But no.
Speaker A:Yes, but no.
Speaker A:Dean.
Speaker A:Dean's gone.
Speaker A:And Sam sees a.
Speaker A:Through the hole, he can see a ladder going up.
Speaker A:And as he's looking at the ladder, a ton of rubble falls down, which is not a good sign.
Speaker A:So that's not great.
Speaker A:And so Sam is.
Speaker A:Now.
Speaker A:This is.
Speaker A:This is like things have accelerated as far as the oxygen loss because of explosion.
Speaker A:It seems because of it.
Speaker A:But around the timing of it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And Sam is struggling to get to the main room to calling for Dean.
Speaker A:He can barely breathe.
Speaker A:He is pulling himself along.
Speaker A:And suddenly what happens?
Speaker A:The power comes back on.
Speaker A:Air starts flowing.
Speaker A:Holy.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:It's like when air conditioning works after.
Speaker B:Like, it's being broken for three days and in Texas heat.
Speaker B:And then a bloody Dean comes in and says, so he's the one.
Speaker B:He got the man.
Speaker B:He got outside.
Speaker B:He got the manual override going and got in.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:And you get a hey, lunatic line.
Speaker B:Cute.
Speaker A:They're very.
Speaker B:It's very sweet between the two of them this whole episode.
Speaker B:So really, we go to.
Speaker B:We go to Sioux Falls where there's Mary knocking on Jody's door.
Speaker B:And Mary still looks all up from before.
Speaker B:And Jody's like, this is gross.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker B:Why do you want to come in my house?
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And Jod.
Speaker B:And Mary's just like, can I come in?
Speaker B:And for some reason, Jody is like, all right, I guess you can.
Speaker A:I mean, I'm sure.
Speaker A:Of course, she would let her in, but.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So we cut to Sam and Dean out.
Speaker A:They're outdoors now, but they're by baby.
Speaker A:And they're checking all the cell phones for battery.
Speaker A:I was like, oh, we just talked about this.
Speaker B:Brings us back to the who charges their phone questions.
Speaker B:And clearly no one has been charging.
Speaker A:This box of phones, except for there's one that has some juice, so.
Speaker A:So Dean calls Garth, and he's like, hey, Garth, I already warned you about these, like, British dudes.
Speaker A:However, they now have a hit out on all hunters.
Speaker A:And I bet it's an extra hit for a werewolf hunter.
Speaker A:So y' all need to get somewhere safe.
Speaker B:So, yeah, they're gonna.
Speaker B:He tells them to go hide, and then Sam just says the word.
Speaker B:Joanie.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so they haul.
Speaker A:They hop in the car.
Speaker A:Lady Bevel's handcuffed in the back, and they just start hauling ass to Jody's.
Speaker A:And they get there, and we see that Mary's car is still there, which gives you a little bit of a panic attack for a second before you.
Speaker A:Before they get in.
Speaker A:So Jody is sitting in a chair with an ice pack on her face and Alex standing next to her.
Speaker A:Mary is tied to a dining room chair,.
Speaker B:And Alex is now working on Dean's leg as a nurse while Jody tells him what happens.
Speaker B:And Mary becomes really shitty about Jody playing mom to Dean.
Speaker B:And Jody is just basically trying to be like, you know, it's not your mom.
Speaker B:And Mary keeps taunting them about how different she isn't from the Mary that he knows.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:You know, like, I'm actually just like your mom.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:And Sam's brought in Lady Fancy Pants, who now we find out, of course she lied about fixing Mary.
Speaker B:And then she says her programming is permanent, that the good Mary is hiding behind impenetrable psychic walls and they can't.
Speaker A:Be torn down with grenades.
Speaker A:Oh, cute.
Speaker A:Now's the time to be cute.
Speaker A:You.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So bad.
Speaker B:And Dean's just gonna kill her, which seems a little off.
Speaker B:Like, there's a lot of people killing this episode that we'll talk about, but it's, you know, it's like, ah, really should you.
Speaker B:And Sam, though, points out that catch keeps calling Mary's phone.
Speaker B:And Mary's just like, I'll get it.
Speaker A:But they send it to voicemail.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker A:So Lady Bevel's like, look, they're not gonna stop, so I think y' all should run.
Speaker A:And Ian's like, we're not gonna run.
Speaker A:And she's like, then you die.
Speaker A:And so Sam's like, or we fight,.
Speaker B:So they're gonna fight.
Speaker B:And we see more hunters are gathering at Jody's, including Walton Roy, which is so awkward.
Speaker B:And Sam stumbles through it at first, but he finds his words right.
Speaker B:He's giving this rousing speech about how he believed the BMOL at first and.
Speaker B:But what they want is just control and that they will kill innocent people who get mad the way.
Speaker B:And they know hunting is about doing what's right.
Speaker B:I'm like, I don't know.
Speaker B:Walton Roy shot you.
Speaker B:Like, I'm not sure we're all on the same page about what's right.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:But he says that the British want them dead because they can't control them, and he wants to go on the offensive and take them out and then tells them that some of them might die.
Speaker B:And they're like, okay, but we'll take down the bad guys, because that's what we do.
Speaker B:They're scared of us.
Speaker B:They should be.
Speaker B:And then, like, lots of head nods and just testosterone popping off everywhere.
Speaker A:And Dean looks so proud of Sam.
Speaker B:He does.
Speaker B:But shockingly, Dean's not going.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:He said, my legs busted, so I'm no good.
Speaker A:And Sam's like, I'll take a jacked up Dean Winchester over a 10.
Speaker A:Any 10 hunters.
Speaker A:But have you seen Walt?
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But Dean's like, no, you're ready.
Speaker A:You can go show these.
Speaker B:You know, these sons of who's both.
Speaker A:Dean's personal project is to save mom.
Speaker A:He's decided if she's in there, he's gonna bring her back.
Speaker A:So Jody said we see as a side just a little cute because it mentioned someone else we know is Jody's sending Alex to Donna for a safe.
Speaker A:Donna to be kept safe.
Speaker B:A. Yeah.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:And Alex tells Jody to kick it in the ass.
Speaker A:She does.
Speaker B:It's cute.
Speaker A:So we've got Dean and Sam hugging it out and it's really sweet.
Speaker A:And they call each other and jerk.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Oh, single man tear.
Speaker B:And Dean wants Tony to get him into Mary's head.
Speaker B:And she's like, well, I need my rig to do that.
Speaker B:Which.
Speaker B:She's your rig?
Speaker B:And why does that make it worse?
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:It's just weird too, like, why are you calling this your break?
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:So she says that's at her base, but that she can cobble something together with the right materials.
Speaker B:And we cut from her to the British Men of letters and Dr. Hess that.
Speaker A:And she's giving directions.
Speaker A:And we see pictures on the wall while the.
Speaker A:The screens on the wall highlighting Claire and Garth as targets to hit.
Speaker A:It shows that Sam and Dean have been eliminated.
Speaker A:But she's like, these are your targets.
Speaker A:There are no restrictions.
Speaker A:That includes family and bystanders.
Speaker A:So just whatever you do, no witnesses.
Speaker B:It's just batshit.
Speaker B:Yeah, you're just saying, like, we're just killing.
Speaker A:Executing people.
Speaker B:And not to mention how many.
Speaker B:Like, what happened to all the tactical people who died at the bunker?
Speaker B:Did the did catch and then take their corpses with them?
Speaker B:Or are they still at the bunker?
Speaker B:Like, are there just dead people, like, lying in the bar?
Speaker A:I mean, that's what they were.
Speaker A:That's what they did with Mick.
Speaker A:They just kept his body in a freaking pelican case in the armory.
Speaker B:So we go from this craziness to a care a picture like a shot of a caravan of cars going down the road, including a Sioux Falls sheriff.
Speaker A:Jody supposed to do that.
Speaker B:Don't take your work truck.
Speaker B:What is wrong with you?
Speaker B:Don't just take your personal vehicle.
Speaker B:Do not take the cap.
Speaker B:What is wrong with you?
Speaker B:So many Things are wrong with the situation.
Speaker B:So we get that caravan and we go then to catch.
Speaker A:Because he's panicking because he hasn't been able to get a hold of Mary.
Speaker B:Because, yeah, they're letting the phone go to voicemail, and nobody answered it.
Speaker B:So now he's tracking down her, which maybe that was a mistake.
Speaker B:So they had.
Speaker B:She's tracked her down, I guess.
Speaker B:Like, however, there she is tracking Mary.
Speaker A:I'm sure they put a tracker in her, inside her.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:This is what this is implying, because I don't think it's by phone.
Speaker A:I doubt it.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:So she is in Lebanon, Kansas, and we caught from there to Dean, coffee Mary in the bunker and catch running off, obviously, to go find her.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So we got Dean, Lady Bevel, and Mary in the bunker.
Speaker A:This just seems dangerous, but that's okay.
Speaker A:So Lady Rebel's like, I'm gonna get supplies.
Speaker A:And he's like, you're not going anywhere by yourself.
Speaker A:And she's like, for the record, my people left me to die, so I'm not really on anyone's side except my own.
Speaker A:Now I'm gonna try to do what will keep me alive.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And she also plays the sun card, right?
Speaker B:So she's like, I just want to see my son again.
Speaker B:Just.
Speaker B:I think she.
Speaker B:I think that is a manipulative Lloyd, to try to humanize her to Dean a little bit.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:So, I mean, she's probably also telling the truth, but it's also wrong.
Speaker B:She does seem to genuinely care for her son.
Speaker B:I mean, even psychopaths can love a child.
Speaker A:Maybe.
Speaker B:I guess it wouldn't be a psychopath, but.
Speaker B:So she.
Speaker B:You know, she has.
Speaker B:I think she genuinely cares for her son, but she's also a cold.
Speaker A:Cold.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:So she's.
Speaker A:Yeah, she's like, I'm not asking for a pass, but just a head start when it's.
Speaker A:When it's done.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:So he unlocks her, cops.
Speaker A:He gives her a shot.
Speaker A:So, yeah.
Speaker A:And then we cut back to the bunker, and everybody is.
Speaker A:All the new British Men of Letter operative guys are getting, like, gunned up.
Speaker B:Like, yeah, they're racking guns, and there's just people running around.
Speaker B:And then we go back to the bunker where Mary and Dean both have electrodes on their heads and.
Speaker B:But poison.
Speaker B:Poor Mary has hers in her hair.
Speaker B:And, like, Dean just has him just, like, on his forehead and, like, what the hell?
Speaker B:Like apples.
Speaker B:Were you just like, no, I'm not gonna put me in my hair.
Speaker B:Like, you mess it up, probably.
Speaker B:Yeah, it Just reminded me of like, if I.
Speaker B:If you ever do like a sleep study, they put.
Speaker B:They put the electrodes in your hair and so you.
Speaker B:It feels like you've got like gum stuck in your hair that you have to.
Speaker B:And that's why I was just like, oh, why is it.
Speaker A:You know, Poor Mary sounds terrible.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So Lady Bubble's like, oh, we're just gonna have to bank on this hypnotic agent with a sedative in it that can take out an elephant instead of my.
Speaker A:Sounds very dangerous.
Speaker A:But okay.
Speaker A:And where did she get this from?
Speaker A:And where did she get this giant needle from that she is now shoving into Mary's neck?
Speaker B:Does she use the same needle in Mary that she uses?
Speaker B:Indeed.
Speaker A:Yes, I think so.
Speaker A:And that was my next line too.
Speaker A:I'm like, what the fuck?
Speaker A:Because he's like.
Speaker A:Because he's like.
Speaker A:Because.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Because as.
Speaker A:And he.
Speaker A:And he cuffs Lady Bubble to the chair as soon as he can, but.
Speaker A:And then she shoves the giant needle in his neck.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Why can't you.
Speaker B:Oh man.
Speaker B:Just.
Speaker B:Just don't share needles.
Speaker B:I just.
Speaker B:It just.
Speaker B:Just don't.
Speaker B:Like, this is so bad.
Speaker B:And so if you found one in.
Speaker A:The bunker, you can find a second one.
Speaker A:I'm just saying.
Speaker B:And why didn't you use this to get your blood out earlier?
Speaker B:So just to be safe, though, Dean does handcuff her to a table.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And so they.
Speaker A:Dean closes his eyes and when he opens them, he's sitting in a chair in what we know is the living room of the old Winchester house.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And his leg is healed.
Speaker A:It's like that's all up from the fall.
Speaker A:So he walks in the kitchen and there then as he turns around, there's a crib appears with a baby in it in the middle of the living room.
Speaker A:And Sam, Baby Sam, Infant Sam is crying in it.
Speaker B:This is a damn cute baby Sam.
Speaker B:Like they got a real chubby baby for this one.
Speaker B:Like, I was like, okay, y' all did good on this.
Speaker B:I'm like picking an infant for this one.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And Mary's there and with.
Speaker A:Before she chopped her hair off.
Speaker A:And she is take caring for baby Sam and going to make lunch for kid Dean, so.
Speaker B:And trying real hard making him a PB&J sandwich.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And in grown up Dean that's there in her head, I guess she's ignoring.
Speaker A:She's not responding.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:And he's trying to convince her to leave and get through.
Speaker B:And it's not to going.
Speaker B:Going.
Speaker A:At the.
Speaker A:What do we call the Compound.
Speaker A:The Britishman Letters compound.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Our hunters have arrived.
Speaker A:And the lead vehicle is the sheriff's truck, Jody.
Speaker A:Gosh.
Speaker A:And she just barrels through that gate, though.
Speaker A:She gives no shits.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:Obviously this is an organization that will be probably trying to cover things up, but can just see the surveillance video of just like the sheriff's truck just driving through, like this vigilante group of hunters.
Speaker B:And then they just start shooting people.
Speaker A:It's straight to a firefight.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And they're people.
Speaker B:And I know they've done this throughout, like, with British Men of Letters and.
Speaker B:But it just.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:There's no flinching.
Speaker A:No, there's not.
Speaker A:And I.
Speaker A:And I would make like I.
Speaker A:It's a TV show.
Speaker A:So I don't know if I'd make the same argument in real life, but for plot purposes and for consistency purposes is that they are viewing this as a.
Speaker A:These people are going to kill us.
Speaker A:So we are protecting ourselves.
Speaker A:And that's a stretch, but I think that's where they're going with it.
Speaker A:I think they're.
Speaker A:This.
Speaker A:Is this the last straw.
Speaker A:This is all we.
Speaker A:This is our last option on the table.
Speaker B:It just.
Speaker B:For me, it just.
Speaker B:It feels like.
Speaker B:And not even talking about my moral code.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:I'm talking about just for the morality code set for this show.
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker B:To kill a.
Speaker B:Not monster.
Speaker B:To kill a human always was like a bigger deal to them than like any time they've had to kill someone who.
Speaker B:Who was human.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like, there's been conversation about it and this.
Speaker B:Until, you know, and even when Dean was demon.
Speaker B:Dean.
Speaker B:And then like.
Speaker B:And then it would.
Speaker B:And then we were still talking about it.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So that was like the line.
Speaker B:And it doesn't feel like that line is there with this at all.
Speaker A:Agree.
Speaker B:And that's just really strange.
Speaker A:No, it stood out to me too.
Speaker A:For sure.
Speaker A:In this episode that, like, it's just like straight to.
Speaker A:We're going to shoot.
Speaker A:We.
Speaker A:We.
Speaker A:This group of people is going to shoot up that group of people.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:We're just gonna kill them.
Speaker B:That's just it.
Speaker B:And then just leaves there.
Speaker A:There's no plan.
Speaker A:Then we're going to go kill them before they kill us.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's the entire plan.
Speaker A:And that's just not very.
Speaker A:It's not in strategic or in line with the moral code they've established.
Speaker B:You're correct.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So we are going to talk about another battle.
Speaker B:Because since we're in a battle and this is lore.
Speaker B:And this is still our British men of Letters season.
Speaker B:And we're to talk about our final installment of the Golden Dawn.
Speaker B:And this is about the Battle of Blythe Road, which is an infamous, to some of the note, magical battle between Alistair Crowley and William Butler Yates, which happened at the golden dawn headquarters in London at the turn of the 20th century.
Speaker B:And there are many versions, but this is my favorite from a Richard Elman article in Variety.
Speaker B:Upset over his denial of acceptance into the Second Order, Aleister Crowley went to Paris, where MacGregor Mathers initiated him into the Second Order.
Speaker B:Crowley then went back to London where he showed up as at the Isis Uranian temple in a Highlander's tartan, a black crusader's cross on his chest, a dirk, a Scottish dagger, a jaunty bonnet and a skeen dhu, which is like another Scottish dagger tucked into his socks.
Speaker B:Crowley made the sign of the pentacle inverted and climbed the stairs while shouting menaces.
Speaker B:At the top of the stairs, William Butler Yates and two others were waiting.
Speaker B:And when Crowley got in reach, Yates kicked him down the stairs.
Speaker B:As amazing as that is, it's not entirely accurate.
Speaker B:It is missing a little bit of context.
Speaker B:So let's back it up a little bit.
Speaker B:So the golden dawn was already having internal struggles when a 25 year old Aleister Crowley first graced them with his beastly presence.
Speaker B:Westcott had left because he was afraid of getting outed and fired from his day job as a coroner.
Speaker B:Florence Farr, who was running the London Temple, had created a secret society within the Order called the Sphere, causing some members to fear excluded there was.
Speaker B:So basically this is a secret society and somebody decided they needed a secret society within the secret society so they could exclude certain people from it.
Speaker A:That's what I was cracking up.
Speaker A:I was like, what?
Speaker B:This is very much, you can't sit with us.
Speaker B:And so McGregor, Mathers and his wife Moyna had already moved to Paris.
Speaker B: ley joined the Golden dawn in: Speaker B:I'm not saying that right, but it translates to he who will endure.
Speaker B:And he quickly went through all the First Order material because he's a big old magical nerd and he was gung ho to enter the Second Order.
Speaker B:When the group said no, Yates said he was too unstable and too much of a delinquent.
Speaker B:Crowley had already been blacklisted from the Trades Protection association for debt, so it's possible that is one of the reasons.
Speaker B:Or it could have been his promiscuity or his drug use or his homosexuality, although those were not Foreign behaviors to many of the Golden Dog members.
Speaker B:It could also have meant to be an affront to Mathers, who was friends with Crowley.
Speaker B:Or maybe they just didn't like him.
Speaker B:So base.
Speaker B:Again, another.
Speaker B:You can't sit with us.
Speaker B:Like, he's like, I'm here.
Speaker B:I'm ready to join your magical Order.
Speaker B:And they're like, no, we don't want you so soon after this.
Speaker B:And Mathers is in Paris, right?
Speaker B:And he's reading in the.
Speaker B:The meeting minutes from the London Temple meetings.
Speaker B:So he basically.
Speaker B:They're having meetings.
Speaker B:He's like, oh, what are they saying about me?
Speaker B:And he reads that they think that they should close the temple down.
Speaker B:And he gets really upset about this.
Speaker B:And Crowley goes to find Mathers in Paris because, you know, he's, you know, pissed about being.
Speaker B:Not being initiated to the Second Order.
Speaker B:So Mathers goes ahead and initiates him in Paris.
Speaker B:And so he also just did this probably to piss the folks off back in London, right, because they wanted to shut the place down.
Speaker B:So he was like, you, I'm initiating this guy.
Speaker B:So this is also the time when Mathers drops that whole bombshell that Westcott had faked the founding documents from Anna Springle.
Speaker B:And the time he was getting conned by Anna Distab.
Speaker B:She was there.
Speaker B:Madame Poro.
Speaker B:So that's happening right now, too.
Speaker B:Florence Farr writes to Westcott, who denied the charges of the forgery but couldn't produce any living witnesses to his story.
Speaker B:Farr told Mathers that she would resign after he accused her of plotting with Westcott because she was just talking to him.
Speaker B:So he was like, oh, you must be plotting together, right?
Speaker B:And then Mathers is like, you're fired.
Speaker B:And then the London group was like, no, you're expelled from the Order.
Speaker B:And sort of the.
Speaker B:Sort of the.
Speaker B:The Order.
Speaker B:The.
Speaker B:The order of things.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:So Crowley goes to meet up with Mathers in Paris with plans to bring the London Order to heal.
Speaker B:Together, they come up with the following.
Speaker B:So Crowley.
Speaker B:Crowley, sorry, kids, name people say either.
Speaker B:And this is a show with a Crowley in it.
Speaker B:I'm sorry.
Speaker B:Sometimes that happens.
Speaker B:So Crowley went to meet up with Mather, so he's in Paris, and they're going to bring the London Order to heal.
Speaker B:And they decide they're going to do this.
Speaker B:So Crowley is going to return to London with the list of new chiefs for the Isis Temple.
Speaker B:And that would be the five people who were still loyal to Mathers, who didn't want to.
Speaker B:You didn't want to kick him out.
Speaker B:Crowley Crowley had instructions to seize the premises of the Order and the vault of the Adepts.
Speaker B:Each adept would then be interviewed and determined whether or not they would be readmitted to the temple.
Speaker B:He also had magical instructions on how to conduct the interviews so that they were successful.
Speaker B:He had magical signs and symbols to create and write over so he could get the right answers out of people.
Speaker B:And he also had to be very careful to be to avoid Anna Distabar and her lover, who were in London at the time with stolen documents from the Cult of Dawn.
Speaker B:So Crowley gets back to London.
Speaker B:At first he just demands the documents that are now owed to him as a member of a Second Order since he was initiated.
Speaker B:But he was denied.
Speaker B:And they said, we do not recognize your Paris initiation.
Speaker B:And according to Crowley's diary, the London crew also put a curse on him.
Speaker B:His rubber Macintosh, his raincoat burst into flames and he kept losing his temper for no reason.
Speaker B:He also said at least five times horses bolted at the sight of him.
Speaker B:Yeah, clearly curse.
Speaker B:Other bad luck included a handsome cab caught on fire, a fireplace that wouldn't lie, and a nightmare that the Horoses were coming after him.
Speaker B: ,: Speaker B:And he talked the landlord into letting him in, signed his name to the scroll for the Second Order members.
Speaker B:Like all the people who were initiated into this had a like the special scroll they would put their name and their motto on.
Speaker B:So he just went and added his name and his motto to it.
Speaker B:It's like, haha, I was here.
Speaker B:And his mottos was Christios Luc Lucife, There be light or brightness.
Speaker B:But it kind of looks like Lucifer, which is probably why he chose it.
Speaker B:He also had the balls that have the locks changed.
Speaker B:Oh yeah.
Speaker B:So one of the members, Mod Cracknell, shows up.
Speaker B:She sends a telegram to Edmund Hunter, another member, who arrives, followed by Florence Farr, who called, basically they called the police who just requested that Crowley leave and he did.
Speaker B:So then Crowley returns two days later on April 19, and this time he was dressed in that Highlander where he really was dressed like a Highlander.
Speaker B:So he's got this black mask over his face.
Speaker B:He was gonna have this pub bouncer accompany him, but the guy got lost on the way there.
Speaker A:So he was gonna have like private security with him.
Speaker B:Yeah, he was gonna have an extra person.
Speaker B:He was a chucker outer.
Speaker B:But the guy couldn't find, couldn't find his way to Blythe Road.
Speaker B:So he goes, Curly goes through the shop, because you have to go through a shop to get upstairs to where the headquarters are.
Speaker B:And so he just burst his way through.
Speaker B:And that's where Yates and Edmund Hunter come to meet him and just told him he was not welcome.
Speaker B:He was not kicked down the stairs.
Speaker B:Unfortunately, the landlord sent for a constable who again told Crowley to leave, which he did, saying, I'm gonna get a lawyer.
Speaker B:The bouncer showed up a couple of hours later with a letter, and he was just bewildered about what the hell was going on and why it was so hard to find this place.
Speaker B:And he just had no idea.
Speaker B:And they're like, we're sorry you're here, but bye.
Speaker B:So meanwhile in Paris, Mathers, who's still, like, upset about everything that's happening in London, took a large packet of dried peas and he baptized each of them in the name of his London opponents.
Speaker B:Then, while shaking the peas in a sieve, he evoked Beelzebub and Typhon set, ordering them to wreak havoc and cause drama.
Speaker B:I don't know if that really happened, but I really hope it did.
Speaker B:I just love this idea of a man dressed in some weird outfit shaking a thing.
Speaker B:Dry peas, dry peas.
Speaker B:And being like, oh, come on, come on, Beelzebub.
Speaker B:Oh, what people do.
Speaker B:So on April 21, Mathers was expelled from the golden dawn by the London Temple.
Speaker B:Officially, this is considered by many to be the end of the original Golden Dawn.
Speaker B:On April 26, there was an actual court case in which Crowley accused far of unlawfully and without just cause, was detaining certain papers and other articles.
Speaker B:Florence won and Crowley had to pay $5 in court costs.
Speaker B:Then the order found out that Crowley had extorted money from one of his mistresses, likely the previously mentioned Elaine Simpson, and they decided to magically solve the problem.
Speaker B:They met her on the Astral Plane and convinced her to go to Scotland Yard to present evidence of Crowley's crimes against nature.
Speaker B:Not sure what came of that one because Crowley had already gone back to Paris and then he went on to New York for adventures there.
Speaker B: e Horrors trial did happen in: Speaker B:We did lure a little bit out of order, but that's fine.
Speaker B: So the trial happened in: Speaker B:Florence Farr would resign.
Speaker B: In: Speaker B:It was really catchy.
Speaker B:Eventually, Mathers would rename the branch of the golden dawn, who still was on his side to the Rosicretian Order of Alpha Mega.
Speaker B:And he and Crowley would stop being friends.
Speaker B:And there were some accusations of slander and theft.
Speaker B: dawn stuff in the equinox in: Speaker B:Which Mathers would sue Crowley over the publication of that.
Speaker B:And he would win that case, but just not a lot of money.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And that's how went on principle, but not funds.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And you can.
Speaker B:The golden dawn still exists today.
Speaker B:There was revival and things were brought back up.
Speaker B:But the.
Speaker B:The original order.
Speaker B:This is.
Speaker B:This is the original order.
Speaker B:So that.
Speaker B:Thank you for going on the golden.
Speaker B:You know, the golden dawn journey this season.
Speaker A:Interesting.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So we're gonna go back from that.
Speaker B:That magical battle, which I still think is hilarious, from that one to a less hilarious battle where we unfortunately have Dr. Hess.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And she knows that they are being attacked by hunters and sends her team out.
Speaker A:And there is a whole lot more shooting going on.
Speaker A:This is just basically a bunch of firefights throughout the British Minute Letters compound.
Speaker B:Yes, for sure.
Speaker B:And then we go into Mary's head.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And she is still not hearing Dean.
Speaker A:And he grabs her arm and she pulls away.
Speaker A:So now Dean knows that it's not that she can't hear him.
Speaker A:She is intentionally ignoring him.
Speaker A:And that's when he realizes she is choosing this.
Speaker A:As he listens to her put pie or watches her put pie on the table for kid Dean.
Speaker A:And tell little kid Dean, I only want good things for you.
Speaker A:I'll never let anything bad happen to you.
Speaker A:And grown up Dean says, I hate you.
Speaker B:Ow.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker B:So much emotion.
Speaker A:Oh, my Lord.
Speaker B:And then we go from there to the British Men of Letters Con play sucks.
Speaker B:Where they have blown their way inside.
Speaker B:And there's another firefight.
Speaker B:Two tactical guys are down.
Speaker B:One of the hunters is down too.
Speaker B:And Jody then just shoots a guy.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Just.
Speaker A:Just shooting guys.
Speaker A:Just shooting peoples.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:And then we cut from there back to Mary's head.
Speaker B:And this is like where Dean goes into a whole.
Speaker B:He goes into a whole thing.
Speaker B:And it's a lot.
Speaker B:You know, he goes through talking about that.
Speaker A:This is the monologue.
Speaker A:Well, and it's kind of the monologue that Dean needed to talk Be open up to her about before, but he's really going in hard now.
Speaker A:This is like.
Speaker B:This is the thing that you talk about when you're the therapist, not necessarily with your mom.
Speaker B:Or I guess maybe you talk about with your mom after she's dead.
Speaker B:So this.
Speaker B:Maybe this does make sense.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Because this is Just a lot of things that he's laying on.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:And so.
Speaker B:Because he.
Speaker B:He tells her that she made the deal with Yellow Eyes and that's why he would.
Speaker B:Comes waltzing into Sam's room.
Speaker B:You left us alone with a shell of a dad and his perfect wife and his perfect family was gone.
Speaker B:Then he tells her that he had to be more than just a brother and he had to be a father and a mother just to keep Sammy safe.
Speaker B:And that wasn't fair.
Speaker B:And then he couldn't do it.
Speaker B:And then he goes through, like.
Speaker B:And just starts blaming all these things on her, right?
Speaker B:That he killed the girl he loved.
Speaker B:He got possessed.
Speaker B:Sam got possessed by Lucifer.
Speaker B:They tortured him.
Speaker B:In.
Speaker B:In.
Speaker B:He lost his soul.
Speaker B:And it's all your fault, Mary.
Speaker B:It's like the worst therapy ever.
Speaker A:Yeah, I kind of took it.
Speaker A:Not that that's all her fault, but what she.
Speaker A:Her choices.
Speaker A:This was the domino effect.
Speaker A:And that's why it blames her.
Speaker A:He blames her.
Speaker A:But yes, that's.
Speaker A:It was a lot.
Speaker A:And she's still avoiding.
Speaker A:But you can tell she's hearing this.
Speaker A:She can tell she's listening, but she is pretending like she can't hear.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And we can tell that in real time, Tony is watching them.
Speaker B:And then Dean tells her that he hates her again.
Speaker A:But now he's fully crying tears.
Speaker A:Not single man tear.
Speaker A:We have full waterworks from Dean Winchester.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And he says he loves her, which is the first time a Winchester has used those words in the entire run of Supernatural.
Speaker B:No, Winchester has said I love you do to each other.
Speaker B:Isn't that crazy?
Speaker B:This is, you know, someone brought up.
Speaker A:Being all about family.
Speaker B:That dysfunctional family earlier today.
Speaker B:And I'm like, oh, yeah, it's been a while since we had that one.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But he.
Speaker B:Then he's.
Speaker B:He starts reversing, you know, the.
Speaker B:This is your fault too.
Speaker B:I love you.
Speaker B:And he can't help it because she's his mom and they've both made deals and he forgives her.
Speaker B:And he's like, you know, we can start over on the other side.
Speaker B:I just need you to fight and to look at me and to see him and to see me.
Speaker B:And it's so much.
Speaker B:It's so lot.
Speaker A:It's a lot.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Super heavy.
Speaker A:Super heavy.
Speaker A:And she's crying too.
Speaker A:And she turns and looks at him and she sees him and says his name.
Speaker A:And then we get a jump scare.
Speaker B:He gets yanked out.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:Oh, my God.
Speaker B:Fancy pants throat is cut.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And catch is there ripping the electrodes off.
Speaker A:And Dean's like, no.
Speaker A:And trying to fight, but he's still in the effects of the medication and his legs all up.
Speaker A:So it is not an ideal fighting scenario.
Speaker B:It's not.
Speaker B:And in British Men of Letters, you got Jody and the other hunter dude.
Speaker B:Was it Lester?
Speaker B:I don't remember his name.
Speaker B:They shoot, shoots page, and then Dr. Hess throws him over the railing.
Speaker A:Like, Dr. She.
Speaker A:She breaks his neck with her hands.
Speaker B:Damn.
Speaker A:It's like, okay.
Speaker A:What the hell?
Speaker A:So back at the bunker, Catch is mocking Dean on the floor, and he's really just kind of, like, kicking Dean's ass, but Dean's insists that he's gonna kill him.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And Dean.
Speaker A:Catch is like, oh, I was.
Speaker A:You know, what?
Speaker A:Do you want to know what your mother said about you the whole time we were together?
Speaker B:Nothing.
Speaker A:Oh, so rude.
Speaker A:Catch just blathering on, though.
Speaker B:Just blah, blah, blah.
Speaker A:Can't help it, can he?
Speaker A:So Dean is able to muster strength to fight back at one point, but you're like, this is not a good.
Speaker A:This is not good.
Speaker C:Not good.
Speaker A:Yeah, Dean.
Speaker B:So Dean throws him on a table.
Speaker B:Sam shot another dude at British middle letters.
Speaker B:Dr. Hess is using her handprint to get into, like, a room that she's trying to hide from the others.
Speaker B:And Jody almost has her, but she gets inside, but they have explosives.
Speaker A:Yay, explosives guy.
Speaker B:Like, I got this.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So, well, Catch and Dean are still fighting, and finally, like, they're just.
Speaker A:You know, they're big.
Speaker A:There's a table leg involved.
Speaker A:This is, like, a chaotic but also stressful and sad fight because Catches pissed Dean is also, like, just broken.
Speaker A:But Dean calls Catch stupid, and Catches like, no.
Speaker A:And pulls a guy.
Speaker A:A gun.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So he's had a gun this whole time.
Speaker B:And he is, like, about to straight up shoot Dean Winchester.
Speaker B:But he doesn't get to shoot him because Mary shoots him in the shoulder, which somehow drives him to his knees.
Speaker B:Like, somehow.
Speaker B:This is, like, the shot that takes him down.
Speaker B:I'm like.
Speaker B:It's, like, in his arm.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:I don't.
Speaker A:Weird choice.
Speaker A:Like, why?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker B:I don't.
Speaker B:I don't understand.
Speaker A:So they just need to give him more time to monologue dog.
Speaker A:Because that's what he was gonna do, I guess.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I mean, so he has to say his.
Speaker B:You know, I knew you were a killer.
Speaker B:You both are.
Speaker B:And then Dean says, you're right.
Speaker B:And then Mary killed him.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I feel like he kind of had to kill him if we wanted to talk, because he probably was A monster.
Speaker A:And as a human monster, I think that one.
Speaker A:I would excuse some of the other ones we can have, you know, the.
Speaker A:The moral debate about.
Speaker A:But I think it's been fully established that Catch was a monster in his own right.
Speaker A:Because we know all the people he went and killed.
Speaker A:Killed.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So that's the only one.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker B:So we go back to the British bit of letters, and Dr. Hess wants him to open a portal.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:She's on the phone with the bridge.
Speaker A:Letters like, get me out of here.
Speaker A:Open a portal.
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker A:I like the response.
Speaker A:Afraid we don't have the resources for extraction.
Speaker B:I just love that that's an option.
Speaker B:And I want to know, like, yeah, let's just open a portal.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Yes, please.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:Can I just catch a portal to guts?
Speaker B:Scientists get on the portals.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:So they don't have the resources for that.
Speaker B:And Sam.
Speaker B:His friends have now gotten inside, but doctor has called Sam.
Speaker B:Dean.
Speaker A:She does.
Speaker A:And he does correct her, which I think is hilarious.
Speaker A:And he can clearly tell that she's, you know, this is all her.
Speaker A:She's running this, and she's like, well, you know, killing me is.
Speaker A:You know, it just would be, you know, end.
Speaker A:Severing ties with the British Men of Letters could be a mistake.
Speaker A:You know.
Speaker B:Know.
Speaker A:Here's this folder I have of these really shitty, grainy, black and white photos when we have all this technology around us.
Speaker A:Here's this folder full of really shitty, black and white, grainy photos of Lucifer on Earth.
Speaker B:And then she also drops a bomb that Crowley is dead and the devil is out looking for his son, and.
Speaker A:He's tracking Castiel because Cassiel is with baby mama.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And if Lucifer gets that kid, then they're unstoppable, and he'll.
Speaker A:And then they'll need the British Men of Letters.
Speaker B:And the computer voice agrees with him and calls him boy.
Speaker A:Listen to her boy.
Speaker B:Which I think is probably like the put.
Speaker B:Like, what, you think that's gonna work?
Speaker B:You're gonna call me boy and you think things are gonna end well?
Speaker B:And Sam just sighs and says, pass.
Speaker A:The computer.
Speaker A:That'd be very satisfying, I'll give him that one.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And Dr. Hess calls him a bastard and for shooting the computer, I guess.
Speaker B:And then Jody shoots her in the head.
Speaker B:Jody.
Speaker A:Yikes.
Speaker B:And then they drive away and the compound explodes.
Speaker B:And thus ends the British Men of Letters.
Speaker A:Wild.
Speaker B:They just blew up the compound.
Speaker B:They just blew it up.
Speaker A:Which looks like actually like a shipping warehouse.
Speaker B:Well, again, it looked like a bunch of Conexes that were put together Inside the shipping.
Speaker B:Outside of warehouse, inside some fence.
Speaker B:But they also left some of the hunters cars that were there that, like, people who didn't make it back out.
Speaker B:And they just left them there, and they didn't set them on fire.
Speaker B:And there's a lot of bodies in there.
Speaker B:Again, y' all just left a bunch.
Speaker A:Of bodies and hunter bodies and hunter bodies.
Speaker A:Aren't you supposed to do the hunter's funeral?
Speaker B:I know.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I know it's on fire, but do you think no one's gonna, like, come?
Speaker B:Like, they're just gonna ignore, like, the giant warehouse?
Speaker B:That's local town isn't gonna be like, oh, my God, there's a giant warehouse.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:No one will notice.
Speaker A:It'll be fine.
Speaker A:This will just sit there forever.
Speaker B:Okay, so.
Speaker B:So I know.
Speaker B:Or TV land.
Speaker B:So we leave there and go back.
Speaker A:To the bunker, and Mary's trying to, like, hiccup or something.
Speaker A:This place is trashed.
Speaker A:And Dean is excited because he found a bottle of expired prescription painkillers because he is hurting.
Speaker B:And I don't blame him.
Speaker A:He looks very uncomfortable.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You need some cast healing.
Speaker B:And now Mary is like, oh, this is all my fault.
Speaker B:And he tells.
Speaker B:Like, because Dean just told you it was.
Speaker B:And he does not correct her on that.
Speaker B:He just tells her, it's gonna be okay.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:And, you know, he's like, yeah, but you also made us who we are, and we kick ass, and we will say we save the world.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:But Mary's like, what if Sam can't forgive me?
Speaker B:But Sam's there, and you don't have to be scared of him.
Speaker B:And then they hug, and then they have this whole big group family hug, and they're all just, like, hugging each other and crying.
Speaker B:And that's how it ends.
Speaker A:It is.
Speaker A:That's it.
Speaker A:That's the episode.
Speaker A:Oh.
Speaker B:So 22 ends.
Speaker B:And so before we get to our final thoughts, what happens before our last episode of the season?
Speaker B:Are there any actors to talk about?
Speaker C:Casting couch.
Speaker C:It's the casting couch.
Speaker C:Were they on that show that time with that guy?
Speaker C:Bye.
Speaker C:La la la la la la la la la la la la.
Speaker A:So there was not very many new actors we've seen before.
Speaker A:So just as a reminder, we've seen Walt before.
Speaker A:He's played by Nels Lerson, and then Roy was played by Carrie Vandergreend.
Speaker A:But we did meet our Anthony Bolognese, who was played young.
Speaker A:I'm guessing that's how you say it.
Speaker A:I played young Dean.
Speaker A:He's been an episode Of Ghost Wars Supergirl.
Speaker A:He was Bobby in the movie Mercy, and he's done a lot of Hallmark Christmas as well.
Speaker A:Cool.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So, thoughts?
Speaker A:This was in the Fields, man.
Speaker A:So there's a lot of, like.
Speaker A:You got a lot of the feel stuff, especially between Sam and Dean, and then with Dean and Mary, and then the other side of it, it's like you're kind of trying to, like, mentally, like, jump rope.
Speaker A:Jump rope, not jump rope.
Speaker A:Jump back and forth between that emotional thing and then like this, like, action flick that you need to morally remove yourself from.
Speaker A:You know what I mean?
Speaker A:Because in action movies, you're like, oh, whatever, everybody blows up.
Speaker A:Who cares?
Speaker A:But we've got characters that we've, like, have established a moral code.
Speaker A:And the whole thing is about who we are.
Speaker A:And now, like, who we are is killing you.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker B:That's a kind of a turn.
Speaker A:Like, we're better than them because we follow our gut and do the right thing.
Speaker A:And we're gonna go kill them because.
Speaker B:They're gonna shoot you in the head.
Speaker B:Like American hunters.
Speaker B:Because that's what American hunters do, apparently.
Speaker A:It's a little bit like in.
Speaker A:In incongruent.
Speaker A:Is that what I should call this?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker B:Yeah, I mean, it is, I guess.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:Is it?
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:It's a very hard.
Speaker B:But again, like, it's not even my moral code or talking about it.
Speaker A:No, the show.
Speaker A:The establishment of the shows.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And to go from we only kill monsters to we just shot about two dozen people in the head, like, straight up, like, just double tap shot.
Speaker B:Not even double tapping.
Speaker B:But it just, you know, it's very Vi.
Speaker B:And it was just you.
Speaker B:It's the vile.
Speaker B:The violence is.
Speaker B:And, you know, I guess.
Speaker B:I guess with.
Speaker B:Not to compare too much to the boys, which is like this dialed up to 20.
Speaker B:But they're also like superheroes in that.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:So that's also making the violence a little fantastical, I guess.
Speaker B:You know, not real gratuitous.
Speaker A:Well, and then you don't feel like it's as gratuitous when it's against things that aren't human.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's.
Speaker A:And like, so when they're killing monsters, it's like, oh, they just slaughtered a.
Speaker A:You know, 20 vampires.
Speaker A:It's like, okay, well, they're vampires.
Speaker A:But then they went and just, like, had shot 20 people.
Speaker A:You're like, oh, wait a minute.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I mean, tactical dude probably had a wife and kids.
Speaker B:Like, you know, like, it's.
Speaker A:He.
Speaker B:He may Be his British scumbag and.
Speaker B:But, you know, but he probably is still a human being.
Speaker B:And I guess, you know, it's like a war and, you know, I don't know.
Speaker B:It's just.
Speaker B:It just seems.
Speaker B:Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of that choice.
Speaker B:I mean, I know, like.
Speaker B:And we did it earlier with the guys when they were.
Speaker B:That was also the season two when they were in the woods after they got arrested for assassinating the president.
Speaker B:And they had like, those guys they were going after.
Speaker B:You know, it's like that, you know, seems to be like the human being.
Speaker B:Things have kind of taken a path.
Speaker B:But, you know, like, what would you have done with the British bit of letters?
Speaker B:Would you have, like, put them in a.
Speaker B:What?
Speaker A:Yeah, I don't know if I have a better answer.
Speaker B:You can't arrest them.
Speaker A:You know, you can't arrest them.
Speaker A:They had no interest in negotiating.
Speaker A:They weren't going to give the Americans a pass.
Speaker A:Like, what do you do?
Speaker A:And so I think that.
Speaker A:I think that's what their argument would be is that they had turned into human monsters and this was their only way out.
Speaker A:Because everybody that was.
Speaker A:Was on their team was either fully ingrained in it or was brainwashed into it.
Speaker A:And you can't change that.
Speaker A:I. I still don't like it, but I don't know what the alternative storyline would have been.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And then, you know, we've.
Speaker B:And then we also.
Speaker B:So we took out Dr. Hess.
Speaker B:Thank you.
Speaker B:Thankfully.
Speaker B:But, you know, we saw a little bit of her coming out and it's like, okay.
Speaker B:She was a really interesting villain.
Speaker B:You know, the Dolores umbrage is supernatural, so by.
Speaker B:By Dolores and.
Speaker B:But, you know, we've got Lady Fancy Pants who as, you know, we said was talking.
Speaker B:We were talking about humanizing, you know, was, you know, have the son that, you know, and a whole.
Speaker B:Like her whole estate, her.
Speaker B:Where her ladyship was.
Speaker B:He's gonna take a leg.
Speaker B:So now she's gonna have a little lord son.
Speaker B:He doesn't have mommy.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:And then we also have catch, which is like you said.
Speaker B:Was there any other outcome that could have happened for him besides being killed like that?
Speaker A:But not for him?
Speaker A:I don't think he had.
Speaker A:He.
Speaker A:He seemed that he was a character that was created to not have connections.
Speaker A:So I think that.
Speaker A:That probably because of his demeanor being so gross.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:But again, again, Mary killed, you know, killed a human being.
Speaker B:She was trying to kill them.
Speaker B:But still, you know, so y' all are killers and that's.
Speaker B:It's not wrong when he said that, you know, and that we had those lines where Dean said, you know, you're not wrong.
Speaker B:And so it's interesting that that's seriously a part of their life.
Speaker A:Yeah, it is.
Speaker B:All right, so we've got one more episode before we have one more, and that's the season finale.
Speaker B:So anyway, so if you think this was the episode before, it's gonna be.
Speaker A:I feel like I can tell it's gonna be a roller coaster because this was a lot in one episode.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Buckle up.
Speaker B:And don't forget next.
Speaker B:And also, here's your your yearly or your yearly, your.
Speaker B:Your seasonally reminder to study before trivia.
Speaker B:I'm sure you will.
Speaker B:All right, on that note, cheers.
Speaker A:Cheers, bitch.
