It's another episode of the Wands and Wishes podcast.
Speaker A:I'm Tony Desiri, along with all the magic travels.
Speaker A:Lauren Mallard.
Speaker A:Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
Speaker A:We are going to be talking about Disney's newest cruise ship, the Disney Treasure, which made its sort of media debut a couple of weeks ago and now is sailing out of Florida on seven day trips.
Speaker A: e rest of this season, but in: Speaker A:How are you, Lauren?
Speaker A:How was your Thanksgiving?
Speaker B:It was good.
Speaker B:How about you?
Speaker A:Good times, good time, good week of fun.
Speaker A:Had daughter home from college and good times, good times.
Speaker A:So I am really excited about this because I like talking to you about cruise ships because you've been on seven Disney cruises and I've been on zero.
Speaker A:And I said in the last podcast when we talked about cruising, I wasn't a big cruiser for years.
Speaker A:And then finally my like parents did this like family reunion, celebrate dad's birthday on a cruise.
Speaker A:And now I'm hooked.
Speaker A: ime from my honeymoon to like: Speaker A:Not really big on the cruising thing.
Speaker A:And now I've done it's if you could be beyond 180, I'm 1, I'm beyond 180, I'm cruising.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's, it's really one of those things that I tell people all the time and especially when it comes to Disney cruising, if you have somebody in your family that it gets overwhelmed with the parks or just really doesn't want to do the whole walking around all day.
Speaker B:The cruise is such a good option for families because it gives something for everybody to do.
Speaker B:The kids can have fun, the adults can have fun, the families can come together at night and have dinner.
Speaker B:All your food is included.
Speaker B:It's just such an easy way to vacation.
Speaker A:And I tell people this a lot.
Speaker A:I said, listen, even though I haven't been on one, I can tell you that I know that sometimes people will see pictures of the parks and they see the huge crowds and there's a little bit of anxiety that comes.
Speaker A:Like, I really want to do this for my family.
Speaker A:I think there's some Disney magic my kids want to have.
Speaker A:But my gosh, I don't want to stand in these lines and I don't want to go when it's crowded.
Speaker A:And my vacation is when everybody else is on vacation.
Speaker A:And these cruise ships have such a big touch of Disney magic that without the 60 minute wait to ride Haunted Mansion that's right.
Speaker A:You can still get that feeling.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:So Disney Treasure, they have this big media event now.
Speaker A:Everyone gets to see what's inside the boat.
Speaker A:It's a Triton class ship.
Speaker A:So it's gigantic.
Speaker A:4,000 people can be on this boat from somebody who's been on Disney cruises.
Speaker A:How did you see this ship?
Speaker A:How does it compare to the Wish?
Speaker A:How does it compare to other boats that the Disney Cruise Line has?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So the Treasure is going to be the same class ship that the Wish is.
Speaker B:And so they call them sister ships.
Speaker B:You've got the Dream and the Fantasy that are considered your Dream class ships.
Speaker B:And you've got the Magic and the Wonder that are considered the classic ships.
Speaker B:The Magic class, I think, is what they call those.
Speaker B:So they're going to be the smallest, smaller ones.
Speaker B:And then you have.
Speaker B:Now what's your mid size is the Dream and the Fantasy.
Speaker B:And so the Treasure, while it should be very similar to the Wish in layout, the design is going to be so different.
Speaker B:So what I've seen from it and what I have been told by people that have been on board the Treasure already is just people that aren't normally wowed by the design of a cruise ship have said, this is just gorgeous.
Speaker B:And I just, I think that they've really, they, they've put out something different than anything that they've put out before.
Speaker A:Now the one thing I saw was that it's kind of this, this theme around Aladdin.
Speaker A:There's a little bit other, there's some other influences from the movies.
Speaker A:Now is that Con, is that a thing that every ship has a different sort of motif or design in the foyer?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And it really was upped more with the Wish, I think, because when they came out with the Wish, she really had more of a royal theming, whereas the other ships, they all have a different look to them.
Speaker B:But I wouldn't necessarily say they have a particular theming.
Speaker B:Each one of them has a different statue in the main atrium and a different character on back of the ship, things like that.
Speaker B:But then they've really taken this whole theming to another level now with the princess design of the Wish making it feel very royal.
Speaker B:And now with the Treasure with Aladdin and Jasmine and making it feel very.
Speaker B:Just with all of those jewel tones and everything that's on, on board there, just giving it that, that whole vibe.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And here's the interesting.
Speaker A:I think I said this on the last podcast we talked about Cruising is if you go back into the history of the company, right.
Speaker A:So you've got Walt with his daughter and he goes to this, like, amusement park.
Speaker A:Like this sort of carnival.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:On a.
Speaker A:On a seaside something.
Speaker A:And he goes, this isn't really family friendly.
Speaker A:And I'm trying to think of a way to make a place that I can take families to.
Speaker A:And he sort of creates not something unique in a theme park or an amusement park that had already existed, but a theme park.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:So he, he comes up with this design and he goes, this is how we're going to run it.
Speaker A:And in the end, an animation company that's making cartoons and movies becomes a leader in the theme park industry.
Speaker A:When they get into the cruise business, you're looking at Carnival and Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruises and they've got a big chunk of the industry and they know how to do it.
Speaker A:They've gone through all of the things you can do and you can't do things that work, things that don't work.
Speaker A:And they're getting into a brand new business and they go out and they hire people that know the business and they create these incredible ships that.
Speaker A:And so it didn't take as long of a learning curve.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Do you know what I mean?
Speaker A:Like, you didn't get into it blindly.
Speaker A:They go, let's go poach some people that know how to do this job.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and build these ships out.
Speaker A:So that's one of the things, when I see these ships, I go, goodness.
Speaker A:Like they're, they're in a position to advance the ship.
Speaker A:Like, like you see with Royal Caribbean, they've got Icon of the Seas now, this gigantic ship.
Speaker A:But Disney's version of that is something like you see in the Treasure.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:It's something, it's different.
Speaker B:So you're not going to get a ship as grand as what you're going to get on Royal Caribbean or some of the offerings that you find on there, which there are a few things that I wish they would take from some of these cruise lines because there are some things that I think Disney could use.
Speaker B:But if you look at it from an apples to orange perspective and say the Disney Cruise Line experience is a totally different product than Royal Caribbean or Carnival or Norwegian, because you are getting such an elevated experience as a whole as a family on board.
Speaker B:Disney Cruise Line.
Speaker A:Yeah, because I've been on a number of different cruises.
Speaker A:I've been on three major cruise lines and I have never done rotational dining like they have on Disney cruises.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's a really cool seat in every night for dinner, you know, in the same room.
Speaker B:And the idea that you get to go with your serving team every night, you don't just have a random server that's taking care of you.
Speaker B:You get these people that get to know you, that find out what you've done for the day.
Speaker B:They tell you ideas of what you can do the next day and what their favorite things to do on this particular port that we're going to be added.
Speaker B:And so it really helps you to build that relationship with the different crew members that are on board.
Speaker B:And, you know, I have people that'll say, you know, oh, well, I want look for so and so on the Disney Dream next time because I got to know them on the last crew and these crew members, they, they stay on these ships for years at a time sometimes.
Speaker B:And so that's, that's something really special in the whole experience.
Speaker A:It is amazing too, because in an age of Tik Tok and Instagram and whatnot, like cast members at the parks, cast members are becoming like mini celebrities.
Speaker B:They really are.
Speaker A:If you go, if you go to this ride, make sure you see Joe or you go, go see Sally at the candy store.
Speaker A:She's been there for 25 years.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Making all sorts of goodies for all this time, that kind of thing.
Speaker A:And they become like instant celebrities.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:As a matter of fact, on that note, I'll be sailing the Treasure next fall with my family.
Speaker B:And I already reached out, which I was reaching out for another reason to one of our favorite servers who was on the Dream.
Speaker B:And he actually said, oh, well, I'm opening the Treasure and I plan to be on there next fall.
Speaker B:Oh, great.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:I've already put in a request for our favorite server for next fall who served us a couple years ago.
Speaker A:That's fantastic.
Speaker A:So, all right, so let's get to some of the things on the Treasure that kind of opened my eyes.
Speaker A:First of all, I again, theming has always been great.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Whenever they do something and it, and they build it around an attraction or they build it around a show, it can be really eye popping.
Speaker A:So the first thing I want to get to is the three restaurants that are on the ship.
Speaker A: One,: Speaker A:The other one is this sort of Marvel Universe sort of restaurant and then this cocoa themed restaurant which I want to get to first because that looks.
Speaker A:That looked the most unique dining room setting I've seen on a cruise ship in all the cruise ships.
Speaker B:Yeah, it really is.
Speaker B:And it's something that Disney's never done before.
Speaker B:So this is and you know, the cocoa theming hasn't really started up yet really with a lot of the Disney parks and with the cruise ships.
Speaker B:Right, Obviously with the cruise ships.
Speaker B:But this restaurant and another thing that Disney hasn't really done yet is Mexican food.
Speaker B:Like they haven't really stepped into that space on the cruise ships yet.
Speaker B:And they're going to have a full Mexican menu and this in this restaurant.
Speaker B:And I think that it's so exciting.
Speaker B:And it's going to have a stage show.
Speaker B:It's going to be very similar to what I understand the Arendelle show is like on the Wish.
Speaker A:That's what they were saying it was.
Speaker A:It's, it's, it mirrors it in a way.
Speaker A:But there it's like the same experience, different characters, different music.
Speaker A:But if you've experienced that, you're going to get that similar feeling.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:In this show.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And you know, I think it's.
Speaker B:It's something that's going to be really neat.
Speaker B:A.
Speaker B:My kids have never watched Coco.
Speaker B:That I'm.
Speaker B:That I understand.
Speaker B:I know I have never watched it.
Speaker B:And so that's something we're going to have to really get into before we get on the ship because I'm excited about this restaurant.
Speaker A:Oh, it looked, it looked fantastic.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A: Now: Speaker A:Is that on other ships?
Speaker B:It is.
Speaker A:Cuz I, I heard they said they replicated it.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B: So both: Speaker B:So you're going to have the.
Speaker B:The same three restaurants in a sense, since they're the same class.
Speaker B:So that's where we're finding.
Speaker B:Plaza de Coco is going to mirror Arendelle and then you have the other two that are going to be same.
Speaker B:I don't know whether the menus are going to be the same.
Speaker B:I assume that they are, but we haven't seen the menu pictures yet.
Speaker A: Now: Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:And sort of taking you back a little bit in time.
Speaker A:A lot of artifacts, a lot of.
Speaker A:A lot of animation palettes, if you will.
Speaker A:Sort of those sort of feeling like you're walking through the history of what the company was when it first got started.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:So all right.
Speaker A:Now the Marvel.
Speaker A:Is there an interactive element to that dining room?
Speaker B:So that is something I'm not really sure.
Speaker B:I think that there some interaction, but not to the extent that Arendelle or that Plaza de Coco on the Treasure will be.
Speaker B:But I have heard that Worlds of Marvel is actually kind of loud, so I don't know if it's one of those types of restaurants, like what Animators Palette is on, the Dream and the Fantasy, where you have somewhat of an interactive screen type situation.
Speaker B:But I haven't been on the Wish, so I'm really not sure exactly what that experience is like.
Speaker A:All right, so now let's get to the one thing that really makes me want to book a cruise on the Treasure, and that's the Haunted Man.
Speaker B:I knew you were going to go there.
Speaker A:This is something.
Speaker A:I think I've been kind of yelling this out for 15 years.
Speaker A:Do something with the haunted mansions within the park.
Speaker A:It is begging for a restaurant.
Speaker A:It is begging for a different experience.
Speaker A:And I've said, I don't care if you put it in California, if you want to put in Orlando, great.
Speaker A:But it's such an incredible theme for something other than the ride.
Speaker A:And I know the gift shop is fine, but that I expect.
Speaker A:But now they've kind of done it with this, like seeing the videos of people who walk in there and seeing the ghost suit in the mirror and all the different cocktails and just the.
Speaker A:It's exactly what I wanted out of a, out of a place in the parks.
Speaker A:I want that in the parks.
Speaker B:The pictures look so fantastic, and I don't know, and you may already know the answer to this, but are the cast members in there going to act like the cast members at the Haunted Mansion?
Speaker A:I think so, yeah.
Speaker A:Because at least they did in some of the media things that I saw.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:You know, I.
Speaker A:So I don't know if they were hamming it up for the media event and that's the way it's going to be.
Speaker A:But I, I would assume that they would be saying, like, come in here and, and, and be part of this.
Speaker A:This is what this is about.
Speaker B:Oh, I can't wait.
Speaker B:I think it's going to be so much fun.
Speaker A:There's also a Jungle Cruise edition, a sort of a lounge area as well, where you can go in there.
Speaker A:So I, I think that they've taken two very iconic, longstanding, you know, attractions that have been within the parks for a very, very long time and said, while we have the new stuff, while the kids are excited about the new stuff, you all remember these rides from when you were kids or these, these rides that continue today.
Speaker A:Here's something for you guys to enjoy as well.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:And another thing with the Triton class ships, that's, that's something else that they kind of did with the Wish, they have a Star wars lounge on the Wish and they have Nightingales that's more themed on the Wish.
Speaker B:Whereas on the Dream Class and the Magic class ships, you have fantastic lounges, but not done to the theming that this new class of ships is doing.
Speaker A:It's funny that you mentioned, I wanted to ask you because of all the, all the times you've been on Disney cruises, how much if I had a stew, how much is original Disney stuff?
Speaker A:And then the Marvel and the Star Wars.
Speaker A:If I don't care for Star wars, am I inundated with that a little too much on some of these?
Speaker A:Like, how does it work with the ip?
Speaker B:Absolutely not.
Speaker B:So that's a good thing.
Speaker B:As far as the sailings that are Marvel Day at Sea or Star Wars Day at Sea or Pixar Day at Sea, you're gonna get a little more peppered in there.
Speaker B:But if you're not, you act.
Speaker B:We actually don't get any Star wars characters for the most part on most of the ships.
Speaker B:Now, I have seen that Rey is going to be on the Treasure.
Speaker B:So that is going to be an addition, I think, to the Treasure on a normal sailing.
Speaker B:Other than that, to be honest, there's a Star wars section in the kids club, but really you're not going to feel at all like you're immersed into an ip, especially not with Marvel.
Speaker B:You're really not going to see that they have added the new Marvel section to the Disney Dream Kids Oceaneer Club.
Speaker B:But other than the Kids Kids clubs, if you're not on one of those days at sea specifically, then you're not going to feel like that.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Staying with the food, because again, we talked about the dining room, but then there's, there's the buffet, but then there are these like little kiosks.
Speaker B:Yes, the Festival of foods.
Speaker A:Yeah, Festival of foods.
Speaker A:Like this barbecue, smokestack and what is it?
Speaker A:Goofy's Pizza or whatever.
Speaker A:It may be like, different.
Speaker A:Now that's something that I don't see on other cruise ships.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker A:I see maybe a pizza stand because late night pizza is always a thing, but I don't see a place to like grab barbecue.
Speaker A:Now I've been on a cruise ship that had burgers.
Speaker A:Like, I've had.
Speaker A:I've gone to different.
Speaker A:Like one had a taco stand, but nothing like a.
Speaker A:Like a courtyard.
Speaker A:Like at a mall.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Like, where you have that feeling of like, this room is dedicated to like five different food locations.
Speaker B:Yeah, they've really upped the game on the pool deck.
Speaker B:As far as being able to have different offerings, you're gonna have your standards, your chicken tenders, your hot dogs, your burgers.
Speaker B:But like you said, if you want, if you don't want to have to go into Marceline Market, which is the buffet, which is going to be what we've talked about before, pretty chaotic, right?
Speaker B:Every day of the ship or of the sailing, then go and make a barbecue bowl or make tacos or a burrito bowl.
Speaker B:There are so many options.
Speaker B:And these are available all day long from lunch until late night.
Speaker B:So even if you've already had lunch, go out there, get a little bite and have a snack.
Speaker A:All right, so now this is just a Treasure is just going on seven day cruises for the near future, right?
Speaker B:For the foreseeable future.
Speaker B: rom what I understand, all of: Speaker B:That's correct.
Speaker B:From Port Canaveral.
Speaker A:So whether changes, I don't know.
Speaker A:But it looks like it is a large ship going on larger vacations than a quick three day jaunt.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:And you can look at the different itineraries.
Speaker B:There's a Western Caribbean seven night sailing as well as an Eastern Caribbean seven night sailing.
Speaker B:So you can look at the different ports, see what's going to interest you and your family more.
Speaker B:Depending on the dates those are going to change obviously.
Speaker B:But yeah, it's a fantastic itinerary to get on this seven night.
Speaker B:Be able to see three to four different ports usually or always actually that's going to include a visit to one or both of the private islands.
Speaker B:Typically one of the private islands.
Speaker A:All right, now they talked about this Lion King theater, but it's different than the regular theater.
Speaker A:Is that where all the plays and shows are?
Speaker A:Is there a smaller theater on these boats?
Speaker B:So there are two theaters on, on the, on the, on the other ships.
Speaker B:But I'm not sure with the Treasure how that's going to work.
Speaker B:But on the Dream and the Fantasy, there is the Buena Vista Theater and the Walt Disney the theater and where you're going to go to the Walt Disney Theater for your shows.
Speaker B:Whereas the Buena Vista Theater is going to have things like the movies and different things that you can go watch.
Speaker B:So I haven't looked into what is going to be offered in the two different theaters other than I do know that the, the feature show on this ship is going to be Moana, which is.
Speaker B:Which I think is going to be fantastic.
Speaker B:And so look ahead and see what's going to be on the different itineraries.
Speaker B:As far as the Shows are concerned you're not going to get a feature show every night, especially on these seven night sailings.
Speaker B:You're going to get something a little smaller on some of the nights.
Speaker B:But typically like on the Wish right now there is Frozen as well as the Little Mermaid.
Speaker B:And so for a seven night sailing, I expect us to get something else that might be a Disney classic in addition to Moana.
Speaker B:And then you might have one of the other classics from the other Disney Cruise line ships, something like Disney's Believe or the Golden Mickey, which a lot of people are familiar with on other sailings.
Speaker A:So like I said before, I missed this window of time because I just wasn't a cruiser.
Speaker A:So I had the kids and we'd go to Disney, we'd go down to Florida, and cruising was just not something we even considered.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Now they're gone and in college and we're empty nesters.
Speaker A:And I keep telling my wife, we've got to do a Disney cruise just to do it.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:And she goes, I don't know.
Speaker A:I mean, it's kids, I get it.
Speaker A:And I told her, I said, look what on the other boats, okay, so Disney doesn't have on the boat, on their boats, the two things you don't do anyway on a cruise ship.
Speaker A:You don't gamble and you don't go to art shows.
Speaker A:So like, you don't do both of those things.
Speaker A:Everything else that you do when we go cruising you can do on a Disney cruise.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:There's so much for adults to enjoy whether you have kids or not.
Speaker B:And I've said it before, if you don't want to see kids, you don't have to.
Speaker A:You don't have to.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker B:And I've had just as much fun.
Speaker B:I've done two adult only sailings on Disney Cruise Line and I had just as much fun on those as I did with my kids.
Speaker A:Yeah, so I'm, I'm, I'm working on it.
Speaker A:I'm working on it.
Speaker A:We're going on a Royal Caribbean in March, but I'm working on that Disney cruise.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:I got to do it before.
Speaker B:Do it next.
Speaker A:Do it next.
Speaker A:So real quick, again with these boats.
Speaker A:I tell this story a lot.
Speaker A:When I first got into sports, sports broadcasting, I was first down in the business.
Speaker A:I covered NASCAR and the New Hampshire International Speedway where I grew up and had my first job.
Speaker A: ad their first NASCAR race in: Speaker A:And over the years that I covered that sport, I started noticing how very Efficient.
Speaker A:They were.
Speaker A:They're trying to get 80,000 people into seats in a very small town.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Really small town in New Hampshire that just didn't have the infrastructure for it.
Speaker A:And when I probed about how they did it, the first thing I said was, well, we took our executives to Disney, and they said, disney has this program, like, where they will teach you how they do it.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker A:They teach you how to move people in, how to flow people, and how to provide service that is exceptional.
Speaker A:Like, I would.
Speaker A:Every time I would go, people knew who I was.
Speaker A:They would.
Speaker A:They.
Speaker A:My name was in a picture book.
Speaker A:It was, like, kind of neat.
Speaker A:Like, this is how they did it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And we go back to the thing I was saying about the cruise industry.
Speaker A:Like, a lot of times you go on these cruise ships and you don't feel that connection, but Disney has already established themselves as a company that figures out how to just get.
Speaker A:How to make it streamline, the efficiency.
Speaker B:You're absolutely right.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and so that's one of the things that I'm kind of looking forward to seeing is a lot of times I've gone on these cruises where I've said, well, this, this, this, and this.
Speaker A:You know, I love the cruise.
Speaker A:It was fun, but I had problems with my.
Speaker A:My parents just went on one, and I.
Speaker A:I said, how'd you like it?
Speaker A:Oh, we had a great time.
Speaker A:And then my father went through a list of complaints that made me go, did you have a good time?
Speaker A:I'm like.
Speaker A:I'm trying to remember, like, early when we started this conversation, you said you had a blast.
Speaker A:And now you've picked apart, like, five things.
Speaker A:And they all really had to do with customer service.
Speaker A:They all really had to do with not being able to resolve a conflict.
Speaker B:Sure.
Speaker A:And I.
Speaker A:And I would got to think that there are some conflicts that you've had in Southern cruises that have been rectified as quickly as they possibly can.
Speaker B:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker B:And that's another thing that I think sets Disney apart is I will say I was in a resort within the last six months or so that had some problems in the room that I asked to be taken care of.
Speaker B:Well, in four to five days, those were never resolved.
Speaker B:So when I was on Disney Cruise Line last month, we had an issue with one of the lights not turning on.
Speaker B:And literally within 30 minutes, they had someone there and they had fixed it, and it was.
Speaker B:It was never a problem again.
Speaker B:So it's.
Speaker B:They know they have a process for different things.
Speaker B:And I'm not saying everything's going to be perfect.
Speaker B:Because it's not.
Speaker B:But I think if you go about it the right way and if you're polite, they do, they do know how to help and they can help their guests and they want to help their guests.
Speaker A:That's exactly right.
Speaker A:And I've always said, I've told people many times, like, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but the really nice squeaky wheel will get even more grease.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Like, if you really go after.
Speaker A:Like we talked about this on my, my wife and I's trip when there was a lot of problems at Hollywood Studios and rides were breaking down and you felt like I wasted a day because the main attraction, Rise of the Resistance down.
Speaker A:Slinking the dog's dash is down.
Speaker A:Aerosmith roller coaster is down.
Speaker A:All of this is down.
Speaker A:And people were really angry.
Speaker A:The angry people kind of got, well, this best I can do is this.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:My wife and I got a free park hopper pass and a free go to Magic Kingdom and have a good time.
Speaker A:That's why we fix this stuff.
Speaker A:And come back later if you want.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker B:Lesson learned.
Speaker B:You've got to present yourself.
Speaker B:And I have to tell myself that a lot of times because I can kind of bulldog a little bit, but, you know, but you got to be able to present yourself.
Speaker B:Chris always tells me, you get it, honey is sweeter or whatever the saying is.
Speaker B:He reminds me of that all the time.
Speaker B:And so you're right.
Speaker B:Absolutely.
Speaker B:It makes a difference.
Speaker A: When we were in: Speaker A:Not.
Speaker A:Was it Lion.
Speaker A:I think it was Lion King Suite, whatever it was.
Speaker A:And we, we woke up and the air conditioning wasn't working and everybody had a miserable night sleeping.
Speaker A:I put in a work, you know, I called up work order, said, hey, we're going to the parks today, but our air conditioning is out.
Speaker A:We came back, the room was on fire.
Speaker A:Like as soon as we walked through the.
Speaker A:We walked through.
Speaker A:No one had fixed it.
Speaker B:Oh no.
Speaker A:So we called up again and they said, yeah, we've had some problem.
Speaker A:But they had like three people come to the room to help us pack.
Speaker A:And then they sent us to the Cars suite.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker A:On the other side of the thing.
Speaker A:And so it was kind of neat because I got to experience two different themed rooms, you know, on a week long trip.
Speaker A:It was kind of neat.
Speaker A:And they, they were all very helpful along the way.
Speaker A:So that's pretty great.
Speaker A:So the treasure again, you're going, what, October?
Speaker B:Yeah, next October.
Speaker A:Like about.
Speaker A:What is it?
Speaker A:Ten months.
Speaker B:That's right, Exactly.
Speaker B:It's no longer over a year.
Speaker A:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker A:I can't wait to talk about that when you come back in 10 months.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:We do want to get to some other bits of news because we touched on it two weeks ago and that is the rumors were right.
Speaker A:Aerosmith roller coaster is turning into Muppets.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You know, I'm actually excited about it.
Speaker A:I'm kind of excited too.
Speaker A:I don't know, like, I don't know the business of it.
Speaker A:And I, I actually tried to look this up and it's a.
Speaker A:It's an Internet secret, which is hard to keep secrets on the Internet.
Speaker A:But I, my.
Speaker A:I googled.
Speaker A:How much was Disney paying Aerosmith for the licensing for that ride?
Speaker A:Ride?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Like, is it a one time fee?
Speaker A:Do they pay him every year royalties all the time?
Speaker A:I think it's.
Speaker A:I, I would think just knowing how some of this business works, that it's a yearly fee that they pay Aerosmith to have their name on a ride.
Speaker A:Now you don't have to pay it because you own the ip.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:But I told my wife doesn't.
Speaker A:My wife sits.
Speaker A:I've been married to my wife for 26 years and I'm.
Speaker A:I was blown away by this because she never told me this before.
Speaker A:She goes, I don't like the Muppets.
Speaker B:Oh, no.
Speaker A:I said, what do you mean you don't like the Muppets?
Speaker A:She goes, I never really liked them.
Speaker A:I said, we went to the Muppet 3D Show.
Speaker A:I never really cared for the Muppets.
Speaker A:I go, oh, that's too bad.
Speaker B:Maybe she'll change her mind.
Speaker B:When they have like rocking music.
Speaker B:I picture Animal with the drums and it's.
Speaker B:I think it's gonna be fun.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Dr.
Speaker A:Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker A:Roll with that.
Speaker A:But I'm interested to see how they, how they kind of change the theming for that.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:That was always one of my fun.
Speaker A:More fun or cues.
Speaker A:Like to see the video beforehand, see Aerosmith get in the limo, that kind of thing.
Speaker A:It was always kind of neat.
Speaker A:Now let's see how they change that up a little bit.
Speaker A:I will say the same idea or is it going to be completely different?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I don't look forward to the closure of that because it'll take a while.
Speaker B: retty much the entire year of: Speaker B:Just for refurbishment.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:And then here we go again.
Speaker B:And I'm like, this sounds like it's going to be down For a really long time.
Speaker B:So I'm hoping that we'll at least get Test Track back open maybe before they close that one because I don't know, it's going to be tough to lose, to not have a couple of big rides at a time.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:This is something you and I talked about a couple of months ago with Epic Universe opening them up and Disney wanting to respond to that.
Speaker A: a kind of a delicate year in: Speaker A:It's the time to start saying, okay, if we're going to build it, now's the time to build it.
Speaker A: on't we just admit that maybe: Speaker A:But you can't have too many things down.
Speaker A:Too many things are down and people start noticing it and they go, okay, look, when we get there, these main attractions are in refurbishment or rebuilding or they're building a new land.
Speaker A:So this is, it's.
Speaker A:It becomes very problematic.
Speaker A:But this would.
Speaker A:2025 would be the year to do it.
Speaker A:Yeah, let them just be in the sun.
Speaker A:Let them enjoy it.
Speaker A:You see it with restaurants.
Speaker A:It's kind of a weird thing.
Speaker A:Like when a new restaurant opens, other restaurants go, fine, we get it.
Speaker A:Okay, we get it, it's okay.
Speaker A:But please, when everything calms down, remember we, we still have free salads with your entree, whatever it is.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:I don't know that the word free will ever be associated.
Speaker A:No, that's a great point.
Speaker B:Ever again.
Speaker B:I wish.
Speaker B:Come on, give us something.
Speaker B:Throw us a bone.
Speaker A:Give me back.
Speaker A:Just give me back Magical Express.
Speaker B:Magical Express.
Speaker B:Give me that one thing.
Speaker A:Yeah, I don't mind other things.
Speaker A:I get it.
Speaker A:You're a business.
Speaker A:I get it.
Speaker A:You got shareholders or throw us in.
Speaker B:A magic band again.
Speaker B:I don't think I like them very much.
Speaker A:I like the magic band and that.
Speaker B:Was a good value.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:You know, but give me that one.
Speaker A:That Magical Express.
Speaker A:Yeah, that was.
Speaker A:That is just so was so fun.
Speaker A:It was, it was.
Speaker A:I was.
Speaker A:I'm usually a driver down to Florida, but the one time we went and wrote it, I said, oh, this is.
