Forget everything you thought you knew about mental health. We’re flipping the script on that whole 'more is better' nonsense and diving into a fresh perspective inspired by Michelangelo. Instead of piling on more supplements, retreats, and life hacks, we’re stripping away the noise to reveal the real you—kind of like chipping away at a block of marble to find the angel inside. This isn’t about adding more stress to your life; it's about carving out the shame, anxiety, and guilt that hold you back. So grab your metaphorical chisel, and let’s embark on this journey of self-discovery together. Welcome to The Marble Mindset!

The Marble Mindset kicks off with a bold question: what if our approach to mental health is completely off base? In a world obsessed with 'more,' from supplements to self-help books and everything in between, our host—who, by the way, is a mental health nurse practitioner—dares to suggest that perhaps the answer isn't about piling on more strategies but rather about shedding the weight of unnecessary pressures and distractions. Drawing inspiration from Michelangelo, who famously saw the angel within the marble and simply carved away at the stone, this episode sets a reflective tone, encouraging listeners to rethink their mental health journey.

It's all about stripping away the clutter—shame, anxiety, guilt—anything that doesn't serve us. The podcast invites us to realize that we’re not broken and we don’t need fixing; instead, we need to uncover our true selves. Each episode will act like a chisel, helping us shed the layers society has placed upon us. So grab a seat, get comfy, and let's start carving away that noise together, because clarity and peace come from embracing less, not more.

Takeaways:

  • Rethinking our approach to mental health might just be the key to clarity.
  • Instead of always adding more, how about we try embracing less for a change?
  • Michelangelo believed in finding the beauty hidden in the rough edges of marble.
  • Our journey is about carving away the noise and distractions to find our true selves.

Speaker A:

What if our entire approach to mental health is just plain wrong? Not just a little off, but fundamentally backwards? Now we live in an age of more.

Take more supplements, go on more retreats, shine red lights in your face, jump in a cold bath, more therapists, more journals, more yoga mats, more dieting, more podcasts, more life hacks and biohacks. We've turned healing into a hustle. But what if the answer isn't more?

What if the real path to clarity, freedom and peace is not about adding anything at all? What if the answer is lest? Let me tell you about Michelangelo. I'm not talking about the Ninja Turtle. Yeah, Michelangelo.

One of the greatest art artists of all time.

The man designed the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, the dome of St. Peter's Basilica, and the statue of David, one of the most iconic sculptures in the history of man. But what made Michelangelo legendary wasn't what he created it was how he created it.

He would find these huge, unwanted slabs of marble stones that had been rejected by other artists. They were too heavy, too rough, cracked, flawed. Where others saw junk, Michelangelo saw something buried in something side.

He believed the statue, the truth, the magical creation, the essence, was already tucked in the marble. His job wasn't to build, was to carve through it. He famously said, I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.

Now that, my friends, is what this podcast is about. Welcome to the marble mindset. I'm a mental health nurse practitioner. This is not therapy. This is not life coaching.

This is not another 10 step plan to optimize your mind. This is a chisel. Every episode is a chisel. A place where week by week, idea by idea, we chip away at everything you've been taught to carry.

Shame, anxiety, resentment, guilt, worry. Old beliefs that no longer serve you. Impatience. The pressure to be and perform. The lie that you have to do more to be enough.

The endless distractions and doom scrolls that pull you further from yourself. Our job together, my friends, is to carve that away, to get to the angel beneath.

If you're the kind of person who keeps adding cleaner food, more workouts, more therapy, more effort, but inside, you still feel stuck. If you're the kind of person who still flicks off people in traffic, who feels restless, who's craving something real, you're in the right place.

You are not broken, you are not behind. You are not missing anything. You're buried under noise, under fear, and under someone else's version of success. Do not let the world sculpt you.

Your job is to sculpt yourself. And I'm on this journey with you. I'm going to sculpt myself as you sculpt you. No fluff, no fakery. Just real tools. Real honesty.

And a return to something solid. Something unshakable. Because you are not something to fix. You are something to free. So, again, welcome. This is the Marble Mindset.

And together, episode by episode, chisel by chisel, we will carve until the angels set you free. Thank you. Please share and subscribe.
