A Firm Foundation – Wisdom Unplugged

Unplugged1-1024x609

Thank you for joining us for our five days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is Day 910 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. Thank you for joining me on this trek called life. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.

Today’s quote is from David Brinkley, and it is, “A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her.”

A Firm Foundation

Success is never easy. If it were not hard enough to succeed based on obstacles that you will face, some obstructions come from other people. Some of these may be family and friends. You will run into people that try to trip you up or discourage you from your trek to success. You will even have some people that will figuratively throw bricks at you.

The truly successful person is one who through consistent persistence continues to press forward, regardless of the situations or people that obstruct their way. We need to take our failures and lessons learned to construct a firm foundation that will be able to withstand the buffeting winds of life.

Success is personal, and should rarely be equated with monetary success. Success at its very core will be made up of peace of mind and contentment. Success is a place of quiet rest after going through the raging storms that will battle against us at the most inopportune time.

Proverbs 21:5 reminds us that, “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”

We need to realize that success is not made up of only working hard, but enjoying the results of that labor as we are reminded in Psalm 127:2, “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.”

True success is built on a firm foundation and also includes a place of quiet rest.
