Wednesday, because God is in charge of this crazy bus called the Christian Journey.

First, I want to share a message that was placed on my heart about 20 years ago.

And I've included this material in one of the books and I've recently taught on it.

And so you're sitting there thinking, dave, if you recently taught on it, why are you teaching it again?

And I'm going to tell you why.

I'm going to share a story with you in this introduction that will help you.

It's the story of the preacher and the evangelist.

The preacher asked the evangelist to come and do five nights of services at his church.

The evangelist gets there and he starts off on Monday, and He preaches John 3:16.

Wow.

What a great service.

He gets there on Tuesday.

He preaches John 3:16.

Wow.

Another great service.

He preaches on Wednesday.

John 3:16.

Wow.

The pastor's starting to wonder.

I wonder if he has anything else in there.

So he calls him and says, hey, what are you going to preach on on Thursday?

He said, I'm going to Preach on John 3:16.

He goes, well, you know, brother, you've preached on John 3:16 three straight times, and I'm just wondering why you're going to preach on it again.

And the evangelist said, I'm going to preach on it again until your people get it right.

Ta da.

Get that.

Okay.

So that's why you hear things repetitively.

Come on.

That was funny.

That was a good one.

Here it is, the bottom line.

We have a phenomenal relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through Jesus.

We have it all through Jesus.

But there's something else we need to recognize in our connection to God.

Through Jesus, we have the answer to everything in life.

And I make no reservation telling people what the answer to life is.

The reason is simple.

God has given us the answer to life.

And only a fool thinks the answer is blowing in the wind.

So that's one of the reasons you would call in, right?

You would call in so you could share answer trivia.

He wants to hear what's blowing in the wind.

I'm going to tell him.

I'm going to tell everybody what it is.

The answer is just not just blowing in the wind, but it is part of it.

You're going to find out.

And what's important about all this stuff is simply this.

We do a lot of back and forth.

We do a lot of praying for people.

We do the trivia questions, we do prayer requests.

We do all the things that we can do.

But all of this comes to something.

The goal of us, of what we're doing is a straightforward, very, very specific goal.

That encouragement is in simplest terms, it is in fellowship with one another, and it is in fellowship with the Lord.

So I want to lay down something that just is inescapable, that is the answer to every issue you will ever have.

And I want to lay it down in sections, in different groupings, or let's say like we used on Monday, in stages.

And so here is stage one.

And I don't want you to miss this.

We're just going to go right into it.

We're not going to do anything else.

I'm going to go into this for a little bit.

And this is probably the Lord just going redirect, do what I say.

And we're like, yes, sir, yes, sir, here we go.

Philippians 4:13.

Everybody is highly aware of this passage.

This passage is on sports jerseys and people's cars and things of that nature.

What is Philippians 4:13?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

So I want to talk about that, because here is the key.

You're listening to the key.

You might not even know it.

In Philippians 4, 11, 12, Paul has just stated that I have learned to be content in verse 11 in all situations.

So I want you to hear this.

Listen to this teaching.

It will change your life.

I'm not even kidding.

Paul is taking the time to say to the people at Philippi, he wants them to know he appreciates them giving.

Okay, that's where he leads up to.

That's what, 6 to 4, 16, 17, 18.

Then to get to 4, 19.

My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in Christ.

So you know, that's where it ends up.

But before he gets there, he says this fascinating thing.

He says, I've learned to be content in each and every situation.

Now, I want you to think about that.

I don't do that.

I want to do that.

I just don't do that.

I really, really, really would like to be content in everything.

I'm not lying to you.

I really would like to have that satisfaction.

In fact, when I pray for Julianne and Jared and their family, for Attebug, Isaiah, Anthony, Easton, Scott and Anna, because they're so restricted in their social interaction, because of Easton, I pray that their household would be filled with contentment, with satisfaction, because they have a strong limit.

But what Paul says in verse 11 of Philippians is, I speak in regards, not that I speak in regard to need.

He says, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

That's what he says in verse 11.

Now watch this verse 12.

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound.

I know everywhere and in all things.

I have learned to be full and to be hungry.

Did you hear that?

I have learned to be full and to be hungry.

Whatever the situation calls for.

He's learned to be full.

He's learned to be.

If the situation calls to be hungry, he's learned to be hungry.

If it calls to be full, he's learned to be full.

He says, I both to abound and to suffer need.

He knows how to function completely satisfied and also to be in a position where need needs to be brought in.

But he knows how to do it and state content.

Because of verse 13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

See, actually, technically, theologically, that verse doesn't have to do with salvation.

That has to do with your contentment in life.

It has to do with your satisfaction.

It has to do with, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Now, why is that?

Because everything you go through, whether it's physical, financial, relationship, in the natural body, in the spiritual body, everything you go through with children, with parents, with siblings, everything you go through with work, with church, with your groups, with your different associations, with your friends, with strangers, everything you go through, the answer is Jesus.

Oh, I know people.

Whoa.

No, no, no.

The answer is Jesus.

Why is that so important to understand?

You will never get where you are trying to get on this side, but the most that you can get there is by connecting to Jesus.

And everybody's trying to fill the gap, trying to do that.

We'll do this, we'll do this, we'll do this, we'll do this.

All those things that you and I do, they all fall short.

Simply understanding that we can do it all, function the best at the top we can.

Through him, through Jesus Christ, I can do all things.

Through Christ, who strengthens me, I can get through everything.

I can endure everything.

I can put up with everything.

I can survive, everything, I can be content.

I can learn how to function in this position, in that position.

Maybe it's a big house, maybe it's a small house.

Maybe it's a great relationship.

Maybe it's a hard relationship.

Maybe their kids are great.

Maybe your kids are lousy.

And I mean it.

Maybe it's any and every one of those things.

Hey, you know what?

The answer is Jesus.

Every single time.

No.

No.

If you don't think that you're going to hate heaven, how about that?

Ouch.

Dave, be nice about it.

I am.

I'm actually being nice about this.

The encouragement is simply this.

If you want to have the best possible life here and now, which will never compare to what we're going to, your answer is Jesus.

And, you know, here's the thing that'll annoy you because it annoys me a lot.

I can have as much of Jesus as I want.

But let me rephrase that.

I can have as much of Jesus as I seem to allow.

Ouch.

People are like going, stop talking, Dave.

That's enough.

And we're going to go through that again and again.

So I came across something that was from my past teaching, and it had to do with the media.

And I do think media, just so you can know, this is my take on it.

Media stands for two things.

Making everything.

Making everything darker in America or making everyone dumber in America, either one of those two.

And I do think that the media, that it tends to be that the media are false prophets.

And I do think that they're actually talked about.

And there's a great, great theological treaty on the media and the mass communication being false prophets, offering propaganda and so on and so forth.

In the book of Revelation, it's what we get to.

You're going to go, I never thought of it that way.

It's very fascinating.

But my point is simply this.

You can't be ashamed of the word of God, even if you're just growing and learning and stepping into it and so on and so forth.

You're going to encounter people that think of it differently, that think you're a wackadoodle, all that stuff.

Who cares?

God loves you.

He wrote this love letter.

Love God.

Who cares if the world likes it?

Who.

Big deal.

They're not doing anything for you anyhow except for making you feel bad about yourself.

This is like, no, you Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words ever.

And you will grow.

And the Lord will teach you and strengthen you through his word.

You know the word of God.

The law of the Lord is perfect, able to restore the soul.

You want access to that, not to the world.

How can I quit doing that?

You know that I'm going to answer that through the, the rest of the teaching I'm going to do.

I can't just answer you in one step because if I do, it kind of undercuts the teach.

But let me say this.

But the first thing that, the first and most important point, and you've brought it to light, so let's at least use it in this.

And that is simply this.

You have to want it.

In other words, that's where it starts.

You have to say, you know what?

That's what I want in my Christian walk.

I've been doing this a long time.

And you guys know I've been doing this for a long time and, and I have yet to get to a place where I go, gee, I've arrived.

I mean, that's just not how that goes.

It's like, I want more.

Psalm 42, verse 1 says, as the deer pants for the water, brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God.

My soul thirsts for God, the living God.

That's where it starts.

That's the starting point.

Wanting.

And what's important about it is people are like, well, that seems like it's so bizarre.

It's like, let me explain something to you.

You will never understand.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want until you want more of the Lord.

That's it right there.

And we're going to dive into the two key components to get there, right?

How about that?

You know, I, I'm, I make attempts and I, I'm going to continue to attempt to do it every time.

And if I pick it back up, I, I give it back again.

But you know, sometimes, and if you pick up too many of them, then you're break.

I call it breaking this camel's back.

You know, the load gets too hard and you break the camel's back, so you end up, hey, wait a minute, I took up too much again.

And it's, it's, it's something that.

I will say this.

It is never ending in the pursuit.

I will say that for sure.

It is never until we're on the other side of glory.

This is, this is what, this is how we got to go about it.

And when we're on the other side of glory, it'll be.

It's different altogether because we'll see him as he is.

But until then.

And then, then I want to blame everything else.

Oh, well, wait a minute.

It's my, it's my kids or my wife or it's my friend, or it's the job or it's.

I spilled my drink, you know?

Yeah.

I spilled it on.

I spilled it on the carpet.

It's everybody else's fault.

Does that sound a lot like Adam when he goes, what, because of her?

It was because of her.

You know, it's kind of like there's consequences that we don't want to face sometimes.

That's right.

I want to face my consequences and realize that God loves me in spite of myself, that he loves me in spite of myself.

I got to keep reminding myself of that.

He loves me in spite of myself, you know, I got to remind myself he loves me in spite of myself.

That is correct.

I have to repeat that a lot.

Every day.

The point number one in this message is simply the answer is Jesus.

The answer is more of Jesus.

The answer is wanting more of Jesus is the step into that.

In other words, if your solution in life is Jesus, then your step towards that solution should be first and foremost wanting.

And just like we said, David saying, as the deer pants for the water, Brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God.

My soul thirsts for God.

For the living God, there is a hunger that needs to be inside every one of us.

And if you don't have it, don't freak out.

Ask God to build the hunger, and he will.

And your soul will long for more and more of Jesus.

But the irony is you can have as much as you want, or you can have as little of Jesus as you want, depending on how much of the heart we open up.

But here's the thing I want to talk about, and this is like the most important part of this whole thing.

So I'm going to kind of go over a couple of passages, maybe a little faster than normal, so that you can know what's going on.

In Acts 17, verse 26.

Okay, well, let's just use 25 and just bear with me as we go through it.

It says this.

He is not served by human hands as if he needed anything.

God does not need you.

He wants you.

There's a difference.

Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

Every breath from God.

Verse 26.

For from one man he made all the nations that he should inhabit the whole world.

And he marked out their appointed times in history and their boundaries for their lands.

Verse 27.

God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

The Lord coordinated mankind so mankind would reach out for God.

He didn't want sin to be a part of it.

But mankind has this rebellious streak.

But the coordination from the Lord for the creation of humanity.

God wants to be pursued.

I know people don't like that.

Oh, that's too bad.

God wants you to come in consistent prayer.

You know, God could answer every one of your prayers as Johnny on the spot, every single moment without you uttering a word, without you even ever thinking about it or saying about it.

Since the scripture does tell us before we call, he will answer.

But the Lord loves the engagement.

And we forget we're so wrapped up in the circumstance.

But God is wrapped up in the fellowship, and that's what we're missing, that that's what he wants.

And in First Corinthians 3, 9, it says, for we are co workers in God's service.

God wants the partnership.

And so when you talk about what is it that gets us more of Jesus?

Point number one is absolutely this wanting more.

But point number two is recognizing that this is something that God wants.

In Mark 16, 19, 20, it says, when the Lord Jesus had finished talking with him, he was taken up to heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God's right hand.

And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

This is a partnership on a permanent basis.

And this is what the Lord wants from you and I.

And we don't seem to understand, or at least I don't seem to remember, or let's just use what Roger again said.

I seem to do it and then I seem to let go of it and drop right back into the other thing.

It's because we tend to forget that what God is wanting out of this, we're wanting an answer.

We're wanting solution.

We're writing a resolution to the issue.

God is wanting the fellowship, and we're missing that.

We're trying to get something from it.

He's trying to get us.

Tommy Barnett once said this.

He said all these things that people think that God is trying to do.

All God is trying to do is capture your heart.

Isn't that beautiful?

All God is trying is capture your heart.

So the first step, or the first stage is recognizing Jesus.

He's the answer.

You got a question?

Jesus is the answer.

The second thing is desiring, building that, growing in that, learning that to have a passion to be with the Lord.

That's what he wants.

That's why he wants to spend eternity with us.

And in understanding that, that passion we should have, we should recognize Stage one, Jesus is the answer.

Stage two, wanting more of Jesus is what you need to do.

First stage Two or stage three, is recognizing.

That's what God wants.

He wants a partnership with you.

He wants you.

He doesn't want your money.

He doesn't want my.

I gave up all the money.

That's not what he wanted from me.

He wanted me.

That's the love.

Remember when you first heard the love of God?

That God loved you so much that Jesus died for you.

And for a moment there, you were thinking, man, somebody loves me.

And you were like, yep, I'm in.

See, the love of God hasn't diminished since then.

Maybe our love towards him is diminished or our understanding of his love is diminished.

In fact, the Lord's love is perfect.

It doesn't waver like we do.

And he wants us.

I don't know how to say this in a better way, because I can't communicate it in a better way because I'm a person.

God, he's not looking for what you can give him or get him or do for him.

He's looking for you.

That's what he's looking for.

Number one, Jesus is the answer.

Number two, wanting Jesus is the beginning.

Number three.

That's what God wants.

You got to be thinking, okay, I know there's a fourth step.

Yes, there is.

Let me read this.

I love this.

I'm sorry.

This is better than me every day.

Every day.

Any day.

Every day.

Better than any teacher anywhere, anywhere on the planet.

What I'm about to read you.

Exodus 30:3.

Moses said to the Lord, you've been telling me, lead these people, but you've not let me know whom you will send with me.

You said, I know you by name and have found favor with you.

If you're pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you.

Remember that this nation is your people.

So here's Moses, after he's spending all this time with God.

He's like, you know what?

If you're really happy with me, you gotta teach me your ways.

I really wanna know you.

Verse 14.

The Lord replied, my presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.

And then Moses said to him, if your presence doesn't go with, don't send us up from here.

We're not going nowhere.

Verse 16.

How will anyone know that you're pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us?

What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?

And the Lord said to Moses, I will do that very thing you've asked because I am pleased with you, and I know you by name.

Verse 18.

Then Moses said, show me your glory.

Look at Moses.

It's not enough for Moses.

He's already spent the time up on the mountain.

His face is radiating.

All that stuff's going on.

He's like, nope, I need more.

No, no, no, I need more.

I need more.

Verse 19.

The Lord said, I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name in your presence.

And I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

But he said, you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.

Then the Lord said, this is a place near me that you may stand on a rock when my glory passes by.

I'll put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.

Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back, but my face must not be seen.

Moses wanted more.

Number one.

Jesus is the answer.

Number two, wanting Jesus is the key at the beginning of the journey.

Number three, understanding that this is what God wants from you.

Number four.

Never satisfied.

In this context, you just want more.

You just want more.

Ironically, it all goes back to Jesus is the way that we become satisfied.

Why?

Because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me was about being satisfied because of Jesus.

You see how it all circles back to the top?

It's amazing.

I can't even teach this good enough.

Jesus is the answer.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, which has to do with being fully content in Jesus passionately pursuing him as number two.

Number three, recognizing that's exactly what God wants.

Number four.

More, Lord, more.

Because the answer to every issue and every situation for every person on the earth is more of God.

Every nation, every city, every town, every state, every family, every person.

The answer is more of God.

All that other stuff is rubbish.

Who cares what the media says?

Who cares what the politicians say?

Who cares what the academics say?

And if you say you care at all about Hollywood, you need to get therapy.

The bottom line is the answer is more, more, more.

I want more of you, Lord.

I need you to be with me more.

I need to know your presence more.

I need to know your mind more.

I need you to teach me your ways.

You know, I pray that actually that prayer every morning.

I pray that.

I say, lord, let your perspective overwhelm my perspective so I can have the right perspective.

I pray that every morning.

That is your answer.

That Is your key four things.

Now, I'm gonna answer the trivia because I'm not gonna let anybody break in at this point.

So I'm just going to answer that.

You know that trivia, because I just want you to.

Did we do any.

We just still have a trivia out there.

I can't even remember.

I'm just flying around here.

Yeah, we do, don't we?

And number four, fully understanding that the answer then becomes more show me your glory.

Take me deeper in.

You think you're deep now?

How would you like to be so deep in the Lord that you stand before the Lord and your knees buckle like John?

That's what we should want.

I would rather be that way and plop down on the floor and have him go, don't be afraid and pick me up.

I'd rather have that than not have that.

That's the key.

And what do you think is going to be heaven?

That.

Well, maybe we should bring a little bit of heaven into Earth.

After all, we can access the Presence of God 24, 7.

Especially if we've read Hebrews 10, 19, 22.

Jesus is the answer.

Wanting more, knowing that's what God wants.

Show me your glory.
