Big important thing
===
Hey everyone, welcome to this week's episode. Trying not to make my hey everyone so high pitched. So hopefully that was better. Welcome to this week's episode. Today we're going to be talking about framing your life, building your life around that one big important thing. Whether that's a big work thing or a big life thing, whatever that is, we're going to talk about how you actually build your life around it so that it doesn't keep getting lost in the shuffle.
And what I mean by that big important thing is that big dream that you have, that big goal that you have. And it may not be a forever goal, it may not be the only goal that you have, but it's the most important one for you right now, right in this moment. So we're gonna help you figure out how you actually design your life around it so that you can accomplish that big important thing.
First off, get it off your brain. And second off, actually enjoy the fruits of your labor. So let's dig into how we build our lives around getting that one big important goal thing off our plates.
So my client was really feeling excited. So my client came to me feeling really stuck. She knew that she wanted to make a bigger impact, she wanted to help more people, but she was really stuck in the day to day of her business. She was really bogged down by all of the admin work, she felt like her days were not very productive, she would get to the end of the day and feel like she accomplished nothing, and she knew that she had a one big thing to get off of her plate.
And she knew that she had this big important thing that could make a huge difference in her business, but also for her clients. She wanted to start a membership. She wanted to start a, um, she wanted to start a membership specifically for people who couldn't join her one on one services or couldn't afford them.
And she knew that she could make a huge impact with people, she knew that she could really help people with this membership, but she was just struggling to dedicate the time and the energy to it that it needed to get off the ground.
Instead, she was constantly reacting to what her clients needed, she was being lost in her email black hole. She was really struggling to make any time for anything in her business beyond just treading water. And so we sat down together and we figured out, what's the most important thing for you right now?
And the most important thing for Hugh,
and the most important thing for her, was launching this membership. And so we looked at her schedule and we said, okay, what can we sacrifice? What's not as important to you right now as launching this membership. And we figured out a way to fit in all the time she needed to actually get the membership, her one big thing, off the ground.
And so the first step for you in getting that one big thing off your plate, or building your life around, And so the first step for you around building your life around that one big thing is defining what that is. You may already know what your one big thing is, but if you don't, then how do you figure out what that big important thing is for you in your life?
Well, you can start by reflecting on what matters to you, professionally and personally. What are those really important things for you that would make a huge impact for you, a huge impact for your family or your business? What's that big thing? What's that one thing that if you achieved it would make the biggest impact?
And now I keep calling it a big important thing, but it doesn't have to be grandiose. Like it doesn't have to be. A big thing, literally, like it doesn't have to be a membership. It could be something much smaller, something much, uh, more compact, but very meaningful for you. It could be something like launching a new one on one offer, or carving out more time for your family, or prioritizing your health more, or something along those lines that's not launching a membership, which is a pretty big thing, but it still needs to make a big impact for you in your life or in your business.
So once you've figured out what that big important thing is for you, then you need to figure out how you're actually going to make time for this big important thing. And unfortunately, the first step to making time is to understanding where your time is going. You have to sit down and audit what you're spending your time on.
Where is all of that time that you're spending in your business or in your life actually being spent?
By understanding where your time is going, then you can better understand where your priorities might be misaligned. For instance, if you really want to spend more time with family, but at work you're spending a lot of time scrolling Instagram, then you're not really,
then that is not really showing you, then that is not really aligned with your actual priority.
So, in my CEO focus and flow of thought. So in my CEO focus and flow power session, we actually sit down and figure this out together. Where is your time actually going versus where you want it to be going? And then we create, and then we create a plan to actually make that happen for you so that you can be spending the time where you want to be spending it as opposed to where you're actually already spending it.
So once you understand where your time is going, then you can redesign your schedule around your big important thing. So it's important that you're making sure that your focus every day within, so it's important for. So it's important to make sure that your daily and weekly time is focused around that big important thing.
In addition to everything else you still have to do during the day and the week. But, if you don't start dedicating time to that big important thing, it's never going to get done. You have to be blocking out time, at least on a weekly basis, for moving the needle forward. Whatever that one thing is that you can do to start making progress towards that big important thing, You should be dedicating an hour or two, three hours a week to getting that thing done.
More, if you can, but at least that much to start making progress towards it. Whatever those little tiny first steps are that you can start taking towards it will then start building the momentum that you can use to then get towards that bigger thing in your business. and in your life.
For example, if your big important thing is launching a new offer, then make sure you're scheduling creative time in your week to think through what your audience really needs, what you want to provide, you know, start thinking creatively around it. Because if you don't schedule time for it, you probably won't make it happen.
If your big important thing is having more time with your family, then start creating hard boundaries around your evenings and weekends. I actually just did a whole episode on creating and setting and keeping your boundaries in your business. So go back and to listen to that if you haven't already. But the importance around setting boundaries means that you are much more likely to reach that big important thing in your life because you are Prioritizing it because you are committing time to it and you are making it important to you.
My client creating the membership looked at her schedule, we looked at it together, and we figured out what she could take off of her schedule entirely, what could potentially move to other people in her business, and what she could potentially just stop doing all together that she didn't really need to be doing in her business in order to make time for building her membership.
And just like we talked about in the boundaries episode, make sure that you're communicating these boundaries to your business partners. Make sure you're communicating these boundaries to your clients, to your team members, and even to yourself. Make sure that you're really sticking to those boundaries once you set them.
And you can be flexible around this, not the boundaries themselves, but flexible in how you implement your big important thing. But the priority should always be the big important thing. And being flexible shouldn't compromise that.
By understanding what that big important thing is for you, then that makes your life actually a lot easier. Because now you understand what your priorities are, where your time and energy should be, and it makes it a lot easier to say no to things that don't align with that. If something comes up that doesn't lead you closer to your big important thing, and it's actually just going to take you further away from it, then that makes it a lot easier for you to understand that, no, I actually have to say no to this because it does not align with where I want to go.
And saying no can be really hard in your business, especially as a woman and especially as a solopreneur or a business owner, a small business owner. And by having this big important thing really defined, really well understood, and really prioritized in your business, then it's a lot easier, it makes it a lot easier to actually be able to say no to things that just don't get you there.
And when you do finally accomplish that big important thing, imagine how exciting that will be. Imagine how that would feel to finally get that thing up off the ground. And I don't want to say off your shoulders because It may be a good thing, like, spending more time with your family, but, something like a membership, getting that off your shoulders, getting that launched, imagine the relief and the excitement and the freedom that you'll finally feel around being able to accomplish that one big thing for yourself.
This is going to be a really short episode. If you're struggling to understand And if you're struggling to get to that one big thing or even understand what that is or make time for it, then that's exactly what we can work on together in my CEO focus and flow power session. We'll sit down together, map out your priorities together, and then figure out how you can actually accomplish them. Where can you find more time? Where can you deprioritize some things that you have been spending time on? Where can you maybe delegate to other people in your business or hiring things out, or maybe just stop doing things altogether, certain things, not everything, certain things altogether to.
