\nA News Corp employee has slammed the organisation for\u00a0spreading \u201cclimate change denial and lies\u201d through\u00a0\u201cirresponsible\u201d and \u201cdangerous reporting\u201d on Australia\u2019s catastrophic bushfires.
\n\u201cI have been severely impacted by the coverage of News Corp publications in relation to the fires, in particular the misinformation campaign that has tried to divert attention away from the real issue which is climate change to focus on arson (including misrepresenting facts),\u201d Ms Townsend wrote.

\nQueensland 2011 floods class action payout held up as water authorities move to appeal decision

\nSunwater and Seqwater \u2014 which operate Wivenhoe and Somerset dams \u2014 and their owners, the Queensland Government,\u00a0were found responsible for exacerbating flooding across South-East Queensland in a landmark decision\u00a0by the New South Wales Supreme Court in November.
\nThe court ruled in favour of the negligence claim by thousands of property owners, finding the dam operators failed to follow their own manual and did not make enough room for heavy rainfall until it was too late, heightening flood levels and damaging more properties.
\nThe Queensland Government had already opted not to appeal the decision.
\nIn a statement, shareholding ministers Treasurer Jackie Trad and Natural Resources Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said the water authorities had independent boards and each had its own insurance policy to consider.
\n“The relevant insurance companies now have a legal right to determine their next steps,” they said.
