We think that our problem can be solved somewhere \u201cback there\u201d, when really healing actually happens best, right here in the present moment.\n\nToday on The Karen Kenney Show, we\u2019re talking about heading back to the scene of the crime and how it can sometimes leave us incapacitated or keep us from moving forward. \n\n As they say in some 12-Step and recovery programs, \u201cYou can\u2019t build a better past\u201d - meaning we can\u2019t go back and change what we did or what happened to us. \n\n We want it to have been different but, as the brilliant somatic and trauma therapist Linda Thai says, we often resist the fact that \u201cthat ship has sailed\u201d.\n\n Instead, hopefully we can find ways to navigate our past, assign new meaning to it, and gather tools to help us integrate the experience, find safety in our relationships now and move ahead in our lives. \n\n The salve, the balm, and our healing medicine is found in the loving here and now.","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300,"thumbnail_url":"https://artwork.captivate.fm/22c50850-e75c-4734-b25e-87faf90de9ff/2026-Podcast-Artwork-512KB.jpg"}
