\nA cousin of sacked rugby international Israel Folau has been removed from his teaching job at a Catholic high school in Sydney\u2019s south after calling the church\u2019s mass a \u201cpaganistic ritual rooted in heresy, evil and devil worship\u201d.
\nJosiah Folau, 20, was dismissed from his position as a tutor and boarding house supervisor at St Gregory\u2019s College at Campbelltown, south of Sydney, more than a week ago.
\nThe Australian understands that the school removed Mr Folau after he had posted Instagram comments and a video that were highly critical of the Catholic Church and reported by some mainstream media outlets.
\nMr Folau is a former school captain at St Gregory\u2019s and well liked by many in the local community.
\nSchool headmaster Lee MacMaster said confirmed Josiah\u2019s departure: \u201cWe have met with Josiah recently and in our discussions, Josiah has made the decision to discontinue his casual employment at St Gregory\u2019s College. We respect Josiah\u2019s privacy in this matter.\u201d

\nJosiah Folau, also known by the surname Moehau, was school captain in 2016, finished equal eighth in the state in HSC religious studies, and achieved an ATAR of 93.75.

\nThe sacking of Israel Folau\u2019s cousin from a Catholic school was legally valid because public comments he made attacking the church as a \u201csynagogue of Satan\u201d and \u201cmasked devil worship\u201d were incompatible with the purpose of his job, say church leaders.

\nThey said the Catholic Church was \u201cwithin its rights\u201d to remove teaching staff in direct contact with students if they attacked \u00adreligious beliefs at the heart of \u00adestablishing its schools.
\nIsrael Folau\u2019s dismissal was different because the termination of his contract by Rugby Australia for voicing his religious opinions had nothing to do with his job. He had been hired as a top tryscorer, not for views that had nothing to do with the football code.

\nKristina Keneally said the government should revoke Mr Kassam’s visa
