Episode 16 is in Laura’s kitchen as she mixes up four beer cocktail treats for us – Grand MargarIPA, Evening Sunset, Stouty Mary, and Tonkoko White Russian.
\nWe also try the beers on their own as well – what will we prefer, the beer… or the cocktail version? And which will be overall winner?
\nWe also talk about the takeover of Magic Rock Brewery and the extended beer range in Tesco.
\n**To make the beer cocktails yourself, here are Laura’s amazing recipes**
\nGrand MargarIPA
\n25ml tequila
\n15ml Grand Marnier
\nHalf can of IPA – we used Cannonball but Punk also works well, basically any straightforward (non-adjuncted) IPA
\nWedge of lime
\n– Stir down the spirits with ice and squeeze of lime juice. Strain into a glass and top up with the beer.
\n“Evening Sunset”
\n25ml gin
\n75ml pink grapefruit juice
\nDash of grapefruit bitters
\n100ml beer – we used Abbeydale Unbeliever Guava Gose. You could use any light/fruity sour, or an IPA also works well, I’ve made it with NM New World IPA before
\n– Add all the liquids to a glass over ice. Garnish with a wedge of ruby grapefruit.
\n
\nStouty Mary
\n50ml vodka
\n100ml tomato juice
\n50ml strong stout – we used Kernel Imperial Brown. A chilli stout would work well too.
\nHenderson’s Relish
\nTabasco
\nOptional: other chilli! Depending on the stout you could also add a dash of something acid, lemon juice/pickle juice, but we didn’t do this as it could have clashed with the strong stout we selected.
\n– Stir all ingredients apart from the stout over ice. Carefully float the stout on top using the back of a spoon. Garnish with freshly ground black pepper. Drink with caution!
\n
\nTonkoko White Russian\u00a0– idea and most of the recipe from Brew York (their version is a bit fancier and massively recommended)
\n25ml vodka
\n25ml Kahlua/Tia Maria
\nDash of cocoa bitters
\n50ml Brew York Tonkoko (Brew York use the imperial version. Any sweet stout would work!)
\n100ml milk
\n– Simply stir all the ingredients over ice and enjoy as an indulgent treat!
","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300,"thumbnail_url":"https://artwork.captivate.fm/21dab804-ad88-431d-9e47-be36f8dbdcdc/itunes-rgb-logo_mini.jpg"}
