In this episode, Rebecca sits down with Mia, who first traveled with Orphan Relief and Rescue on a Vision Trip to West Africa and has now returned three times.
For Mia, traveling to Africa carries a deeply personal significance. Born in Ethiopia, Mia and her younger sister were adopted after losing their mother at a young age. Years later, returning to Africa became an unexpected part of Mia’s own faith journey.
Mia shares how the joy and childlike faith she witnessed in the children at ORR’s Safe Home reminded her of the faith she had as a little girl and drew her into a deeper relationship with God. With each trip, she has also felt a growing desire to serve children in Africa and explore what God may be calling her to do with her life.
Now studying entrepreneurship and international business, Mia hopes to one day start a nonprofit of her own. She doesn’t yet know exactly what that will look like—but she is continuing to follow where God leads.
Mia’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes when we step out to serve others, God uses the experience to transform our own hearts as well.
