Speaker A:We're at the Charlotte Business Owners networking event here in uptown Charlotte to hop in.
Speaker A:They got a wide assortment of beer here.
Speaker A:I've been partaking.
Speaker A:You've been drinking beer?
Speaker B:No, not at all.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:This interview, by the way, is brought to you by podcast Titans, where they specialize in helping you turn conversations into content and content into cash.
Speaker A:Going beyond social media and taking your brand to YouTube.
Speaker A:Visit podcasts.com I'm joined right now by the lovely Ivy.
Speaker B:Yes, Ivy.
Speaker A:Ivy.
Speaker A:What are you doing here, Ivy?
Speaker B:So my husband and I, we own JV Juice.
Speaker B:It's a cold press juice company.
Speaker B:We make all natural, cold pressed juices, all fresh fruits and vegetables, no sugars, no additives, no sweeteners, none of that nasty stuff.
Speaker A:Okay, what's nasty stuff?
Speaker B:All the.
Speaker B:The fake things that they put in juices, the sugary stuff, the things that we don't want.
Speaker B:You know, we.
Speaker B:We should want nice, healthy things.
Speaker B:And that's what JV Juice is all about.
Speaker A:Jivy.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Where that name come from?
Speaker B:Well, I'm.
Speaker B:He's Jay and I'm Ivy, and together we're JB Juice.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:You guys have a brick and mortar.
Speaker B:We do not.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Working on that though, right?
Speaker B:No, not really.
Speaker A:That's not a goal.
Speaker B:No, we don't want a brick and mortar.
Speaker B:We would love a, like, food truck type of thing.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:So how are you guys selling your product?
Speaker B:So now we do many events throughout Charlotte.
Speaker B:We also do events in Florida, but the events we do here, we do Charlotte Vegfest, we do events at the mall, at Crunch Fitness, we do mobile deliveries.
Speaker B:I mean, you name it, we do it.
Speaker A:Okay, how did this business come to fruition?
Speaker A:Like, where did it come from?
Speaker B:Yeah, so my husband and I have been together for seven years, but he's been a vegetarian and juicing for over 14 years.
Speaker B:Wait, that big guy right there, what kind of vegetables?
Speaker B:He eats all the veggies.
Speaker A:He eat all of them too.
Speaker B:All the veggies?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So that big guy right there.
Speaker B:So he's been a vegetarian and he's been juicing for, like I said, over 14 years.
Speaker B:And together we started juicing about seven years.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:Yeah, one day not too long ago last year, as a matter of fact, I said, babe, you know, let's.
Speaker B:Let's do something.
Speaker B:Let's give the people what they want and what they need.
Speaker B:And we did it.
Speaker B:I came home one day from work and I said, oh, I have an order.
Speaker B:He Said, what do you mean?
Speaker B:I said, yeah, we have, like, about 30, 40 bottles we need to make.
Speaker B:And so I pushed them.
Speaker B:And here we are.
Speaker A:Y' all producing this in your home?
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:How are you?
Speaker A:How are people finding you guys?
Speaker B:Social.
Speaker B:So we have Instagram and TikTok and Facebook.
Speaker B:JV Juice website.
Speaker B:Like, so our website should be coming up.
Speaker B:It should be up and running by May 1st.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:What challenges are you guys dealing with in your business right now?
Speaker A:Because every business deals with challenges.
Speaker B:Oh, absolutely.
Speaker B:Sometimes our orders are too big.
Speaker B:So we are juicing throughout two or three days at a time, especially when we have these big events.
Speaker B:Like I said earlier, the Charlotte Veg Fest was one of the biggest events we had recently.
Speaker B:Well, that was the Junior.
Speaker B:The bigger one was in October.
Speaker B:But when it's big events like that, we juice a whole lot.
Speaker B:Like, three days of juicing because we want our juices to be all natural, so.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:So is it just you guys?
Speaker A:You guys have any other employees?
Speaker B:No, he's my employee.
Speaker A:Oh, he's your.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Yeah, I know how that works.
Speaker A:I'm not even gonna ask.
Speaker A:So you guys have different roles within the business?
Speaker A:Like, he.
Speaker A:Does he do something better than you, or you do something better than him.
Speaker B:Or something, you know, so we both juice, and sometimes I feel like bottling and labeling, and sometimes I'll do that while he juices, or sometimes I'm like, no, I want to ju.
Speaker B:And we just switch.
Speaker B:But he's pretty good with the, like.
Speaker B:Let's say one of our drinks is Incredible Hulk.
Speaker B:It's our green juice.
Speaker B:It has spinach in it.
Speaker B:He's really good putting that in the juicer, and it doesn't clog up anything like that.
Speaker B:So I let him do that.
Speaker A:So you guys, like, tell me about the process.
Speaker A:You guys had to find somebody or someone getting labeling and stuff, like packaging.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:So I gotta give a big shout out to my big sister Eileen, because she does all our labels.
Speaker B:But like I said, May 1st, we'll be rebranding, so we'll have new labels and all that.
Speaker B:But before this whole rebrand, we had my sister, so she just.
Speaker B:Her canva.
Speaker B:Her doing her thing online, and she did all our labels.
Speaker B:She printed them.
Speaker B:She even labeled about 250 or more bottles at once for us.
Speaker B:That way we just juice bottle it and we don't have to worry about the labeling.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, so my sister really is the one who helped us out.
Speaker A:How long have you guys been in business?
Speaker B:Since last July.
Speaker A:Last July.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I'M sure you guys set a goal.
Speaker A:Are you guys for this year, how do you guys look trend 10 wise, are you trending towards your goal?
Speaker B:Oh, absolutely.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:That's, that's good.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So we, one of our goals was to have to be able to.
Speaker B:For our customers to be able to purchase via our website because right now is everything.
Speaker B:So calling me, texting me and things like that or via social media.
Speaker B:So listen, May 1, before our year mark, we will definitely have our website.
Speaker A:What was I about there?
Speaker A:Oh, so is this a full time thing for you guys?
Speaker A:It is for both of you guys?
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:Oh, that's amazing.
Speaker A:That's amazing.
Speaker B:We put our love and passion and everything we have into our business.
Speaker A:What about capital?
Speaker A:Do you guys have to take out a loan?
Speaker B:No, no.
Speaker B:We started without our funds and just our credit was good enough and we opened up some credit cards and boom, here we are.
Speaker A:So you guys have a YouTube channel?
Speaker B:We do not.
Speaker A:No.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A:What are y' all waiting for someone.
Speaker B:To help with that?
Speaker B:I don't know, I never really.
Speaker B:We did have a old co worker of ours who said he was going to help us with that and he hasn't helped us with that.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:So what's the next.
Speaker A:Okay, so you guys are rebranding.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:New website coming and all that.
Speaker B:New website, new labels, new juice names.
Speaker A:Okay, so you guys are changing the look.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:Anything operational changing within the company?
Speaker A:No, keeping everything.
Speaker A:If it's working, you're just gonna keep it the same.
Speaker A:If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Speaker B:That's right.
Speaker A:So what's the next milestone?
Speaker B:A juice truck?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like a food truck type of thing.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So what do you guys see as a reasonable timeline for acquiring it?
Speaker B:Probably next year.
Speaker A:Next year?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Another year hopefully.
Speaker A:So I'll probably put you guys on the calendar.
Speaker A:I'm reach out in a year and be like, hey, I need that truck.
Speaker A:Pull up, pull up.
Speaker B:But in the meantime we can pull up with some juices.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Yeah, still.
Speaker A:Still.
Speaker A:You still pull up?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Beside looking at camera, tell people how they can find you guys, how they get in touch, how to get some of that juice.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:You can follow us on Facebook at J Juice or, or and Instagram and tick tock at jb Underscore Jew.
Speaker B:So that's J I V Y underscore J U I C E.
Speaker A:Thank you so much.
Speaker B:Thank you.
