Speaker:

Welcome to the Parenting

Roadmap Private Podcast.

2

:

I'm so glad you're here.

3

:

This podcast is a companion

to the PDF You downloaded.

4

:

It's designed to give you short,

helpful episodes that explain the

5

:

basics of human design, starting with

your type as a parent and your kids'

6

:

type, plus a few bonus stories and

client conversations along the way.

7

:

I am Erica Voell, a confidence

and wellbeing coach, and a

8

:

certified human design guide.

9

:

I believe your human design is

your roadmap and your permission

10

:

to do things differently and

confidently, including parenting.

11

:

Let's get a few quick

things out of the way.

12

:

If you're like me and you have

lost track of your PDF, you can

13

:

rerun your parenting roadmap.

14

:

You'll find the link in the show notes.

15

:

The reflection questions and notes

I will reference in each episode

16

:

are pulled directly from that guide.

17

:

And most importantly, take what

resonates with you and leave the rest.

18

:

'cause some parts might click

right away and others might

19

:

make more sense down the road.

20

:

A little bit about me.

21

:

I came to human design,

thanks to my therapist.

22

:

I was deep in burnout, hitting some

walls over and over again, and I

23

:

thought I just needed to do more

self care or be more disciplined.

24

:

She gently suggested that I

look up my human design chart.

25

:

I am no stranger to personality

tests, but I've never really

26

:

found anything that stuck.

27

:

I thought this would be like.

28

:

Right for your blood type kind of thing.

29

:

I was so skeptical until I

started reading about my design.

30

:

I have never felt so seen and understood

all for my birthdate, time and location.

31

:

It explained so much why I

struggled with decisions.

32

:

My entire life, why I have over committed

and then second guess myself and why I

33

:

always felt like I was doing things wrong.

34

:

I found out I have an emotional

authority, which means I'm not

35

:

meant to make quick decisions.

36

:

Something I picked up from my family

who are all fast decision makers.

37

:

And once I started learning

more, I could not stop.

38

:

I would share bits and pieces with

friends, and then someone asked me when

39

:

I was gonna share this with other people.

40

:

I told myself I needed to study for

at least a year before I shared this

41

:

professionally, and one of my first client

chart readings was for a friend and she

42

:

turned in to be my first paid client.

43

:

And the more I have worked with

clients, especially parents, the

44

:

more I see human design in action.

45

:

Human design has helped me show up

differently as a parent, and I show up

46

:

differently in my work and in my marriage.

47

:

So why human design for parenting?

48

:

My daughter is wired so much differently

than I am and now instead of trying

49

:

to make her fit into my way, I

support her way, I've learned when

50

:

she's entering a new situation, she

needs someone she trusts nearby.

51

:

That tiny insight has

changed so much for us.

52

:

Same with my husband.

53

:

He moves and he thinks

so much faster than I do.

54

:

This has helped us make decisions as a

team instead of clashing over timing.

55

:

By asking my daughter to sleep on her

decisions, we have saved so much money.

56

:

Human design hasn't just

helped me personally.

57

:

It's helped me see my family more

clearly, and it's given me language

58

:

and tools that have created more

peace and understanding in our home.

59

:

So what can you expect from this podcast?

60

:

You'll find a short introductory episode.

61

:

And then a series of type episodes.

62

:

There's a set for parents

and a set for kids.

63

:

So if you're a generator parent,

you'll wanna listen to that episode.

64

:

And if you have a projector child,

you'll listen to that episode.

65

:

I really encourage you to listen to both.

66

:

There are also bonus episodes coming

with real parents sharing how human

67

:

design has shifted things in their

families and their stories are

68

:

beautiful, honest, and totally relatable.

69

:

This isn't about doing it right, it's

about finding what works for you and

70

:

your family because your design is your

permission to do things differently

71

:

and confidently even parenting.

72

:

So next up you'll find the episode

that is all about the introduction,

73

:

and then you'll wanna find the one

that matches your type as a parent.

74

:

Start there and then jump into your kids'.

75

:

Type next.

76

:

I'm so glad you're here.

77

:

Let's make parenting feel a little

more natural with a lot less guesswork.
