In this episode of Talkin' Comics, AJ Reimann sits down with writer Adam Tierney to talk about his new graphic novel 13 Demons Dead, his journey from video games into comics, and the incredible projects he's worked on along the way.
Adam has spent more than two decades working in video games, including projects involving X-Men, Batman, Justice League, River City Girls and Yars Rising. Now he's bringing that experience to comics with 13 Demons Dead, a horror graphic novel about 14-year-old Everly “Ev” Espada, who discovers that she has become the latest demon hunter in a 2,000-year-old battle.
We talk about what inspired 13 Demons Dead, the challenges of creating a 250+ page graphic novel over several years, working with artist Saspy, and why Adam wanted to combine genuine horror with humor, heart, school drama and manga-inspired storytelling.
Adam also takes us behind the scenes of his work on Godzilla's Monsterpiece Theatre: Romeo & Juliet and Godzilla, his experiences writing Batman and X-Men video games, working with legendary creators, and how networking at conventions can open unexpected doors.
