About the Guest:

Diana Bedoya dreams of a day when we finally realize that our bodies deserve to be celebrated and loved for the marvels they are. As a senior lecturer and teaching fellow at Simon Fraser University, she has taught thousands of undergraduates to understand their bodies and care for them in an individualized manner -- one that certainly doesn’t compromise mental health. She is the author of two nutrition textbooks, delivers one of Canada’s only obesity courses and is the co-chair of her department’s mental wellness committee. Her mental health advocacy as well as her personal struggles with obesity, binge eating, and poor body image allow her to deliver content in a practical, compassionate and empowering manner; key components of her growing YouTube channel and her upcoming public nutrition and weight courses. By teaching people to love and appreciate their bodies, her ultimate goal is for us to reclaim the joyful life we all deserve to have!

Anna was born with a deep fascination for letters - a fascination that deepened when she discovered those letters could turn into words, those words into sentences and those sentences into stories. Not surprisingly, Anna graduated from The University of Victoria, with a Degree in both English and Gender Studies, fuelling her eventual mission to put the power of words back into the hands of women.

Despite multiple other certifications along the way, including one with world-renowned author and personal transformation pioneer, Deepak Chopra, it was ultimately her personal battle with post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety that became the catalyst for the work she does now, as she helps pave the way for others to live with vulnerability and courage whether they are online, offline or on stage.
