Shownotes

"This podcast is a note to myself and a love letter to anyone else who has had on their to-do list 'make a bloody podcast'." Buckers

Welcome along to our first ever episode! If you’ve been willing yourself to JUST MAKE THE BLOODY PODCAST for longer than you care to admit, you’ve found the right podcast to help you *actually* do it.

Hi from me, Buckers (producer of podcasts for everyone other than myself - until now!) and my long-time school pal and avid podcast listener Katie - we're new round here and we've got a lot to say (and learn!) so prepare yourself for the ultimate* podcasting podcast.

*bold of us.

This episode is Part 1 of what we’re referring to as ‘The Pilot’ (because that makes it sound like an edgy new comedy which makes us feel cool and relevant). The first thing to say about this episode is that what should have been a tidy, concise introduction to the podcast and it's hosts inevitably turned into a hefty 2 hour recording sesh (Katie genuinely lost her voice by the end).

Luckily for us though, the entire premise of Just Make The Bloody Podcast hangs its hat on starting scrappy and figuring it out later, so we decided to split it into 2 episodes, and here we are with part 1. Bish bash bosh.

In this episode

As well as getting acquainted with us (how do you do, lovely weather we're having etc) you’ll be finding out all of this too:

  • What this podcast is actually going to be about (probably)
  • Why it can be tough to get a podcast off the ground (even when you REALLY want to)
  • The barriers and challenges around visibility *shudder* in general
  • Why we believe there is no single ‘right way’ to make a successful podcast
  • The unexpected opportunities, friendships and communities that can come from podcasting
  • How we're making this podcast the ultimate guinea pig - a big ol' visible (and, well, audible) experiment in learning out loud (so we can pass that learning on to you!)
  • the nitty gritty of making a podcast and what we're looking forward to probing our fellow podcaster guests about.
  • Tapas* (specifically patatas bravas)

*may or may not be entirely relevant to podcasting but we can do whatever we want so you may as well get on board :)

That's it. Those are the show notes. Thankyou for being here, and enjoy!

Speaker:

>> Katie: Do you want to like, go into like, m. The kind of

Speaker:

personal, not like super personal, but like your

Speaker:

life, your background kind of stuff? Or do you

Speaker:

want to keep it more like, um, current and like,

Speaker:

what, what you're doing now? Like, good question.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Oh, it would actually help if I was actually on my

Speaker:

mic, wouldn't it? My mic's all the way over there

Speaker:

>> Katie: asking questions and if you're like m. Nah, that's

Speaker:

not the vibe. Then just say that. Ah. And that's

Speaker:

fine.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: I think my answer to that is I think we should

Speaker:

just go in. Yeah, just start talking and then see

Speaker:

what happens. Yeah, just start talking and see

Speaker:

what happens. That, um. And yeah, probably in the

Speaker:

name of visibility, there should be a little bit

Speaker:

of background, but I don't really know what my

Speaker:

background is. Maybe you can tell me what my

Speaker:

background is. Maybe, maybe I'll ask you about my

Speaker:

background.

Speaker:

>> Katie: This is your life.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Uh, and then you can hand back to me for like a

Speaker:

little cool, like little fun quip at the end and

Speaker:

then we'll. We'll press stop.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Is this correct?

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Could you make me sound interesting? Like a person

Speaker:

with depth but not too heavy. You know, like, not

Speaker:

too. Like you wouldn't be nervous to spend like a

Speaker:

considerable amount of time with me in case I get

Speaker:

too deep, but also I'm not so surface level that

Speaker:

I'm insufferable. If you could make me sound like

Speaker:

that, not like that would be grand.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Let's record a therapy session. But like, just.

Speaker:

No, let's have a convo.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Okay.

Speaker:

So do you want to start with doing like a little,

Speaker:

um, kind of trailery thing or do you want to wait

Speaker:

until the um, end.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Like maybe we should do both. Maybe we should do

Speaker:

like a like gun to your head. If you had to tell

Speaker:

everyone what your podcast was about in like a

Speaker:

minute, what are you gonna say? And then if

Speaker:

there's anything, um, else

Speaker:

>> Katie: to add at the end.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah, on the proviso that that will probably be

Speaker:

garbage. Um, not like warmed. I'm not loosey

Speaker:

goosey warm yet. Or maybe I am. Maybe this is warm

Speaker:

as I get.

Speaker:

>> Katie: This is the loosing and the goosing. Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Basically my. My attempts to record trailer so far

Speaker:

have all started with the intention of I'm just

Speaker:

gonna be off the cuff.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Mhm.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And I'm not gonna have a script and I'm going to

Speaker:

be myself. And it all starts off fine until I

Speaker:

start questioning who is myself. What does being

Speaker:

myself look and sound like? Who am I?

Speaker:

>> Katie: Just really getting into the like, existential...

Speaker:

>> Buckers: then the trailer really gets. Yeah, it really

Speaker:

takes on a different tone. It stops being a

Speaker:

trailer and starts being like a verbal journal.

Speaker:

>> Katie: You just.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And then I keep saying like, oh, I'm just. It's

Speaker:

just gonna be, you know, it's. It doesn't have to

Speaker:

be really defined from the outset. Like, we're

Speaker:

just gonna learn together. We're just gonna like,

Speaker:

see where it goes.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: But then I think, does that make it sound super

Speaker:

vague and like it has no direction? Because it is

Speaker:

not that, like, it. I know what direction I'm

Speaker:

going in. I just, I want the tone to be, you know,

Speaker:

come along for the ride. And it's, um, not gonna

Speaker:

be like three things, like the three top things or

Speaker:

the 10 top things that you're gonna learn about

Speaker:

podcasting in. In like one episode or whatever.

Speaker:

>> Katie: It's not that.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: It's not like, it's not gonna be like a. Listening

Speaker:

to a blog post about how to do a podcast.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Mhm.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: So that's where I've like got a

Speaker:

>> Katie: bit like, it's just putting all of those things

Speaker:

into snip snaps. Snappy.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Snip snaps.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Snip snaps.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Exactly that. Exactly, exactly. It's the snip

Speaker:

snaps.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah. Okay. Well, I think once, um, I guess

Speaker:

through the whole thing, you'll kind of muddle

Speaker:

together, cobble together enough information that

Speaker:

is cobbled together.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: The best I could hope for is that cobbling

Speaker:

together.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Who doesn't love cobbling together?

Speaker:

>> Katie: We're just gonna cobble together the snip snaps.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Welcome to the podcast. Here's some cobbled

Speaker:

together snip snaps. All jokes aside, I like snip

Speaker:

snaps.

Speaker:

>> Katie: We like snip snaps.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Can we bring that into something? A feature, if

Speaker:

you will.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Snip snaps.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah, maybe that's what the trailer needs to be

Speaker:

the snip snaps of what? Just make the bloody,

Speaker:

bloody, bloody, bloody podcast blobby. Do I need

Speaker:

to be able to say the title of my podcast to be

Speaker:

able to. It's hard to say quick, isn't it? If I'm

Speaker:

saying that to guests.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Hello.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Welcome to just. Welcome to Just make the real

Speaker:

life podcast.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: It's gonna be blah, blah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: What would be the shortened

Speaker:

>> Buckers: gmtbp?

Speaker:

>> Katie: Nope.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Welcome to the bloody podcast. That is like,

Speaker:

that's the epitome of my, uh, like, frustration

Speaker:

around how long it's taken me to do this. It's

Speaker:

literally the title of this podcast is literally

Speaker:

what I have on my to do list. Just make the bloody

Speaker:

podcast.

Speaker:

>> Katie: There you go.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Just make it for, uh, goodness sake.

Speaker:

>> Katie: For goodness sake yourself.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Me. For goodness sake self. What are you playing

Speaker:

at?

Speaker:

>> Katie: Uh, okay.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Uh, yeah, because basically it's taken me. I'm in

Speaker:

my sixth year of being a podcast producer. Uh,

Speaker:

that is what I do. That is what I do for a living,

Speaker:

and I'm only just doing my own.

Speaker:

>> Katie: But when you're making everybody else's podcast,

Speaker:

you get consumed with their podcasts.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yes. I told myself that lie for a good three years

Speaker:

and it was okay for probably one of them. Um, and

Speaker:

now it's time to slap myself in the face with

Speaker:

reality. The reality of visibility, the necessity

Speaker:

of visibility. Yeah, well, why don't you just say

Speaker:

why? Why don't you just ask me what's the podcast

Speaker:

about and see if I come up with a trailer.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah. Also before we do that. Yes. Are we going

Speaker:

with Annabelle? Are we going with Buckers? Are we

Speaker:

going with producer Buckers? Are we going with a

Speaker:

mixture of all of the above when I'm referring to

Speaker:

you?

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah. Buckers is who I am in the business.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: But I reckon the odd Annabelle from you will

Speaker:

probably slip out from time to time.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: How embarrassing for you. Keep your Annabelle

Speaker:

contained, woman. So, like, I will probably. We,

Speaker:

we can probably get into that in an intro, can't

Speaker:

we?

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: We're. We're like long time. Do we call ourselves

Speaker:

long time friends? Long term friends. Yeah, old

Speaker:

friends.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Old friends.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Um, but yeah, I will. In all of the podcast, like

Speaker:

branding and like admitts. Uh, why does it do

Speaker:

that? Why does it do that at the most literal,

Speaker:

boring moment? And how do I get it to go back? Go

Speaker:

back, go back, go back.

Speaker:

>> Katie: This is going to be my favourite.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Oh, I'm going to say something, uh, really

Speaker:

important. Nothing.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Oh, this is going to be my favourite feature of

Speaker:

the podcast

Speaker:

>> Buckers: administration. No, uh,

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Oh, God, no subscriptions.

Speaker:

>> Katie: I'd love it if it just kept going, like, zoomier

Speaker:

and zoomier.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Okay, go back. This is the thing. It's. It's

Speaker:

distracting but funny. Uh, just gonna have to warn

Speaker:

people that that happens.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah. Last time you were doing this.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: No, it was having me on

Speaker:

>> Buckers: go back. Oh, okay.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah.

Speaker:

So in all of the podcast admin, it will be

Speaker:

Buckers.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Okay, we'll. We'll start off with Buckers then.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: But there are. I do. I have some clients that. I'd

Speaker:

say half of my clients call me Buckers and half

Speaker:

call me Annabelle.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Right.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: So there probably will be people that. Or, uh,

Speaker:

people just call me whatever they want.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: As long as it's vaguely Somewhere along the line.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Okay. Yeah, well, we can get, we can, we can jump

Speaker:

in then, can't we? With. Yeah, with bookers. Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And it sounds nice when you say it.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Ah, fuckers.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Bookers.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Bookers.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Like northern twang.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Bookers.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Get your, get your northern twang out.

Speaker:

M on my podcast

Speaker:

>> Katie: and we explain to everybody that I'm not from the

Speaker:

north.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Uh, you are now, though, honest.

Speaker:

>> Katie: I've been up here for. It'll be 17 years this

Speaker:

year. Yeah. And I lived down south for 18 years.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: So you've done half and half.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Wow. Mad. Anyway, we'll get started.

Speaker:

So Buckers, what is the podcast about?

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Well, Katie and dear listener, thank you for

Speaker:

joining us. This podcast is a. It's a note to

Speaker:

myself and a love letter to anyone else who has

Speaker:

had on their to do list make a bloody podcast. So

Speaker:

I have been, I've been producing podcasts for

Speaker:

other people for almost six years and willing

Speaker:

myself to do my own for probably five of those

Speaker:

years and hiding behind the fact that I'm far too

Speaker:

busy making them for anybody else for me to have

Speaker:

time to make my own. But really it's because I

Speaker:

scared

Speaker:

>> Katie: a

Speaker:

>> Buckers: little bit scared of doing it. Um, which is, it's

Speaker:

ridiculous because that is, that is what I get

Speaker:

from every single. Well, not every single person,

Speaker:

but that's what I get from a lot of people that we

Speaker:

work with is the reason they've put it off is a

Speaker:

lack of confidence, a lack of knowledge, not

Speaker:

knowing where to start, it all feeling a bit kind

Speaker:

of like nerve wracking, especially to begin with,

Speaker:

like fairly soon after Covid and during COVID

Speaker:

times anyway, I've realised that if I'm going to

Speaker:

dish out advice and guidance to other people and

Speaker:

will people to be visible and that they have

Speaker:

something special to share, then I have to take

Speaker:

that on myself, which is dreadful. Uh, so, uh,

Speaker:

what should, what can we do? What can we say? What

Speaker:

do people want to know from these things? They

Speaker:

want to know what to expect from the podcast,

Speaker:

don't they? So this is going to be a bit loosey

Speaker:

goosey to begin with, but that does not mean it's

Speaker:

directionless, just means that we're just, we're

Speaker:

going on the journey in the open to define exactly

Speaker:

what this is going to be, but loosely what I can

Speaker:

tell you is it's going to involve conversations

Speaker:

with, with various people who have got something

Speaker:

we can learn from about podcasting, something we

Speaker:

can learn about podcasting from. Um, so I will be

Speaker:

chatting to podcasters at all Stages of their

Speaker:

journey, people who've just launched, people who

Speaker:

have been doing it for years. I'll be chatting to

Speaker:

some of our clients about how we've, um, work

Speaker:

together on their podcast and what they've gained

Speaker:

from it. And my kind of overall aim with this is

Speaker:

to show, is to really demonstrate, like, the

Speaker:

breadth of opportunity podcasting brings and just

Speaker:

the variety of ways in which a podcast can be done

Speaker:

well. And that doesn't need to look like recording

Speaker:

in a swanky studio with branding and, you know,

Speaker:

branded mugs and branded mic muffs. Although I do

Speaker:

have a branded mic muff and I love it, of course.

Speaker:

Um, but it doesn't need to look the same as

Speaker:

everybody else, and it doesn't have to be perfect

Speaker:

and polished and amazing right from the off. And I

Speaker:

want to kind of show people that. That kind of

Speaker:

everybody that, like, if you're running a business

Speaker:

or you are doing anything on social media, you

Speaker:

already have the basis of a podcast, and it's just

Speaker:

about finding a way to do it that feels like.

Speaker:

Feels. I, uh, hate. I hate the overuse of the word

Speaker:

authentic, but it is the only word to use in this

Speaker:

case that feels authentic to you. And, um, that

Speaker:

can be recording a podcast while you're out

Speaker:

walking, it can be recording a podcast in the car,

Speaker:

it could be at your desk, it could be with a

Speaker:

friend at their kitchen table. And there's ways

Speaker:

of. Oh, God, I'm rambling now. But I want to show

Speaker:

the variety of ways in which a podcast can be

Speaker:

done, done well and enjoyed and be the process, be

Speaker:

enjoyable and also kind of show people that it's

Speaker:

not all about, um. Oh, let me start out a bit

Speaker:

again. See, when I'm, like, typing it all out and

Speaker:

I can, like, stop and think.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah, you've got a minute to, like.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: It sounds. It. It sounds really good. And then

Speaker:

when I. Saying it out loud, it's like, does this

Speaker:

sound good? Um.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Oh, it does.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: I want to talk to people and find out what we can

Speaker:

learn from other people who are already doing it,

Speaker:

as well as what I can share, because I hate this

Speaker:

whole kind of culture of

Speaker:

>> Katie: your.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: If you want your podcast to succeed, or if you

Speaker:

want your business to succeed or if you want to

Speaker:

achieve XYZ. Here's the top 10 things that you

Speaker:

need to make sure that you have. Otherwise you'll

Speaker:

fail or it won't be as good as other people's.

Speaker:

Yeah, I want to, like, obliterate, uh, that. And I

Speaker:

don't want that anywhere near. Yeah, the ear. The

Speaker:

ears of anybody who's going to listen to this

Speaker:

podcast. I want this to be. This is going to be a

Speaker:

welcoming, inclusive, fun space where if you are

Speaker:

completely new to podcasting and have not a Scooby

Speaker:

Doo, what is required or involved or how it might

Speaker:

look for you if you were to start a podcast. I

Speaker:

want this to be a place that you can come hang

Speaker:

out, and I also want it to be a place that you can

Speaker:

come hang out if you have been doing a podcast for

Speaker:

three years or more and you are a, uh, brilliant

Speaker:

interviewer or a brilliant host. And there's. Your

Speaker:

podcast is amazing, but you really want to listen

Speaker:

to how other people are doing it and see what,

Speaker:

like, nuggets of wisdom you can take from other

Speaker:

people. So it's basically kind of a living, um.

Speaker:

Oh, no. What am I trying to say? It's basically

Speaker:

going to be like, I'm imagining it like an audio

Speaker:

scrapbook, and everybody that we speak to will

Speaker:

take little nuggets of wisdom from. And then. And

Speaker:

then you can kind of take what you think aligns,

Speaker:

uh, with you and would work for you and leave the

Speaker:

rest. Leave and just dip in and out as much as you

Speaker:

want, but just, you know, come along, Come along

Speaker:

for the ride as we learn about. Not just not. Not

Speaker:

what it takes to make a good podcast, but what it

Speaker:

can take to make a good podcast. And it'll be.

Speaker:

What might work for one person would be. Would

Speaker:

sound really weird and unnatural, um, for another

Speaker:

person. But, uh, I guess it's kind of just. I just

Speaker:

want to make this information and make these

Speaker:

experiences available and accessible for other

Speaker:

podcasters, regardless of what stage we're at on

Speaker:

our journey. Come and learn together. Share

Speaker:

experiences, share advice. Like, what would you

Speaker:

have done differently? What would you have done,

Speaker:

you know, based on what you know now, what would

Speaker:

you advise somebody to do now? Um, and talk about

Speaker:

the kind of. I want it to be a place to talk about

Speaker:

the really unexpected joys of podcasting as well.

Speaker:

Not just, oh, I did a couple of series. It was

Speaker:

really good. And now I have a sponsor, and my

Speaker:

podcast makes me, you know, X amount of money. I

Speaker:

want it to be a place to talk about.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Oh.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: After I published this episode, a listener who I'd

Speaker:

never come into contact with before contacted me

Speaker:

to tell me how much this episode changed their

Speaker:

perspective or how, like, they'd never heard of

Speaker:

this thing before, and now it's completely changed

Speaker:

their life. And now we're best friends and we meet

Speaker:

up every Saturday. You Know, I want to, uh, like,

Speaker:

I want it to be a space to celebrate the

Speaker:

unexpected joys, both in our businesses and

Speaker:

personally, that have come from podcasting and

Speaker:

kind of show, I guess, really, I guess it be a

Speaker:

place to champion the medium of podcasting, uh,

Speaker:

and show how really, like, at its core, it is for

Speaker:

everybody. And it is a community builder as well

Speaker:

as just a, you know, it's not just a tick box

Speaker:

marketing exercise for your business. It's a space

Speaker:

to really create. Yeah. Connections and

Speaker:

communities and a, uh, legacy for not just your

Speaker:

brand and your business, but you as an individual

Speaker:

as well. Because we grow and we develop and we,

Speaker:

our podcasts can be like a real, kind of like

Speaker:

living time capsule of who, um, we are and what we

Speaker:

do.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Is that all right?

Speaker:

>> Katie: I feel like in what I'm getting from what you're

Speaker:

saying, like, the kind of summary of that is there

Speaker:

isn't one big secret that successful podcasters or

Speaker:

successful podcast producers have got. That's

Speaker:

like, if you only knew this. Yeah. Then you would

Speaker:

have a great podcast.

Speaker:

And here's my top three tips, my top five tips,

Speaker:

whatever. There isn't a big secret. There's. This

Speaker:

podcast will be about finding the kind of magic

Speaker:

source that works for each individual person. So

Speaker:

instead of finding out the big secret, it's just

Speaker:

about discovering what, what is going to align

Speaker:

with a particular person. And, um, it's like a

Speaker:

choose your own adventure. Like, there's so many

Speaker:

different types of podcasts.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Oh, I love that. I love that. I was just thinking

Speaker:

it's like a recipe book. And, um, you know, you

Speaker:

might read through a recipe book and think, well,

Speaker:

I like the sound of that. But, you know, like

Speaker:

apricot tagine. Oh, no, I don't like that. So I

Speaker:

won't be a very good cook if I don't. If I can't

Speaker:

make that or if I don't like that, I wouldn't be a

Speaker:

very good cook. You can like, it's. You don't have

Speaker:

to make everything from a recipe book to become a

Speaker:

better chef. Yeah, but your analogy is way better.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Choose your. I'm like, it's either choose your own

Speaker:

adventure or it's going out for tapas. And yes.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Podcast tapas.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Podcast tapas. Just picking your small plates. So

Speaker:

it's, you know, it's, uh, not. Yes.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Because if you only like patatas bravas, then get

Speaker:

three plates of this. Then get three of it. And

Speaker:

don't be judged by anyone at the table.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Exactly. Three different sauces and, um, yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And that's three different dishes.

Speaker:

>> Katie: 100 per cent.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah. Yeah, it's this.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: I hope this is. I hope this podcast is like

Speaker:

podcast tapas where we serve up a variety of small

Speaker:

plates of delicious wisdom that we take from our

Speaker:

own experiences as producers, from the clients

Speaker:

that we've worked with, and from podcasters that,

Speaker:

uh, that produce their own podcast and have got

Speaker:

really valuable guidance and, um, experiences to

Speaker:

share. And we can pick and choose.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And, um, I just love the idea of somebody

Speaker:

listening to this who is exactly like me, has been

Speaker:

wanting to do it for ages. It's been on their to

Speaker:

do list. It's always on their, like, New Year's

Speaker:

resolutions. It's been on the vision board, and

Speaker:

people have been saying to them for ages, you

Speaker:

should really do a podcast. It'd be really good.

Speaker:

And you're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I definitely do

Speaker:

that. And then you don't. Um, for whatever reason,

Speaker:

I would love for somebody who is in that position

Speaker:

to listen to this, to kind of pick up a few bits

Speaker:

and pieces from each, um, episode and for that to,

Speaker:

um. And for them to hear something on this podcast

Speaker:

that makes them go, oh, my God, do you know what?

Speaker:

That's the thing that's going to unlock doing this

Speaker:

for me. I never considered that I could do it that

Speaker:

way or. Or that person whose experience that I'm

Speaker:

listening to sounds exactly like me. And if they

Speaker:

can do it, then so can I. And I kind of want to

Speaker:

give permission to people that it is okay to take

Speaker:

inspiration. We're definitely not saying copy

Speaker:

anyone, but, like, what's that saying about.

Speaker:

There's, like, very few. There's no such thing as

Speaker:

an original idea anymore. Yeah, it's absolutely.

Speaker:

It's absolutely fine to take inspiration and use

Speaker:

that to then find your version of what that looks

Speaker:

like for you. Um, and that's what I want this to

Speaker:

be. And I suppose this podcast is like one giant

Speaker:

living metaphor for you can do something and be

Speaker:

scared about it and be worried about being judged

Speaker:

and be worried about not being consistent enough

Speaker:

and worried that it'll be a gigantic flop and

Speaker:

still do it.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And it. And it probably turned out not to be. It

Speaker:

probably turned out to be really very fun and

Speaker:

good.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Exactly.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: So, I mean, that's. What was that? Maybe. Maybe 20

Speaker:

minutes? I reckon I can. like, extract a few bits

Speaker:

from that? Nuggets. Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Nuggets.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah, I think so.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Um, yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: And I want to have fun features.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: I'm just saying this now. I want fun features.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

One week we're having hummus on our tapas table,

Speaker:

and then the next week we're having some spicy

Speaker:

chicken on our, uh, tapas table. And sometimes

Speaker:

we're putting the hummus on the spicy chicken. I

Speaker:

don't know. What are Spanish dishes?

Speaker:

>> Buckers: I mean, being completely honest, I don't think

Speaker:

there's any time I'm not having hummus. I think

Speaker:

hummus is gonna be, like, the standard.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Oh, absolutely. The hummus is just, like,

Speaker:

constant.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: The base.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: It's like we start off with a base layer of

Speaker:

hummus.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Uh, with every single meal, there's just a nice

Speaker:

spread of hummus. Farewell. I am getting a bit

Speaker:

hungry now.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: I fear this is going too far.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Yeah. This podcast might change its name to

Speaker:

welcome to Tapas.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Can I take your order, please? Four platters of

Speaker:

patatas bravas coming up. Madame,

Speaker:

>> Katie: you can have.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Oh, it wouldn't be Madame, would it? It'd be

Speaker:

Senorita.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Senorita. Exactly. I. I haven't had tapas in so

Speaker:

long. I love some tapas.

Speaker:

>> Buckers: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Katie: Anyway, moving. Moving on. Um, I have some

Speaker:

questions to. To ask of you.
