  • Abjaterskop - Where the story takes place
  • Groot Marico - A hamlet in the North-West Province of South Africa 
  • Boer - Farmer
  • "Yes, jong" - "Jong" means "Young" in Afrikaans, but is also used in colloquial language to mean "Yes, buddy/friend"
  • Veldskoen - South African walking shoes
  • Kerels - Chap; Dude; Fellows
  • Voorhuis - Literally means "front house" and refers to the front-room or living room of a home.
